EBOLA Ahhgg - The Bastards at the CDC Did It AGAIN!! - COCA Call

Received an e-mail of a COCA conference call (sent at 11:36 for a conference TODAY at 13:30). Dialed in as soon as I saw the e-mail (13:22) - busy signal. Redialed - I was redirected to another number "for additional lines." Dialed the new number and was asked for the passcode. Put in the pass code and was told it was not a proper passcode. Retried X 3 with the same results.

Just sent a really heated e-mail through channels on my side telling them what friggin morons they are, and to get their act together.

This time I am able to participate. Nothing new yet. Going on and on about personal care equipment. According to the speaker, you must "...practice, practice, practice,...". What a joke!

I have multiple hospitals depending on me to know what the CDC is spouting and provide the best recommendations for policies and procedures. This doesn't help at all, even if they are spouting gibberish. And what of the healthcare providers that have no clue and can even benefit from the lousy advice from the CDC. They can't even get in..... UNBELIEVABLE!

I keep thinking these hospitals would be better off if they hired the guys who are doing the ebola apartment and has mat cleanups to teach them instead of relying on the Criminally Dumbass Confused to give them any help.

I'm sue CBS News would like to know about it. They are now very quick to be critical (a good thing) of CDC incompetency.
Just an idea....

You cannot practice. There is no time, when you're giving patient care. We were given some 'drawings' on how to put PPE on and off, and a page or two from the CDC. Somehow, we were all supposed to read this, absorb it, and then we had to sign that we were "good to go" so to speak for all of this.

I signed this yesterday. So, I'm assuming that now all liability lies on my shoulders. That's ok, I'm a big boy. It's not the first time something like this has happened.

Blizzard, are you getting a BIG'OL "WTF" feeling with everything?

Well thank goodness, they have started government committee meetings. Things should be clear from here on.

You are correct. The person on the line was demonstrating how to put on the protective equipment. Did you get this, he was demonstrating on a conference call! Unbelievable!

Exactly what mine does. Watch the power point, take the test. Now sign this that says I know what I am doing. Ha ha ha.

I'm thinking that most of the hospitals now are better off implementing their own common sense plans..not bothering with CDC protocol cuz it ain't workin'......jackasses.....

I advise to get out of the mind set that the CDC knows what to do. THey have not up to this point. It really is every person for themselves right now. This is exponential. Today is worse than yesterday, can't even keep up with the individual reports, schools are closing etc. Tomorrow will be double worse, and the next and the next.

Blizzard if you advise hospitals, I suggest you take the most practical and conservative approach to handling this mess.

The level 4 hospital beds are probably full. In a week or two each hospitals with or without staff will have to come up with something for the people gathering.

Hospitals should take their supplies now and create caches. Divide supples into 3. Break into them after everything is exhausted. Somebody has already gotten all the saline IV's (saline shortage).

The CDC spent $7 BILLION dollars for 2014- 200% more than in 2000. And this was an increase from what Obama's budget requested (sorry Dems- the House gave them more not less). But...
Like every other giant bureaucracy we create - it wastes our $ on useless CRAP and not disease prevention-
Of the $3 billion from a new fund created by Obama Care, only $180 million went to researching dangerous diseases.
It spend $106 million on a new visitors center, $10 million on furniture, and almost $2 million to advise Hollywood on medical show plots. Not to mention- $700,000 on studying the impact of televisions in Vietnam, $200,000 to study the second drive of Japanese Quail, $600,000 to study poop and other object throwing by chimpanzees and my personal favorite: $500,000+ in a grant to the NIH to study text messages in "gay lingo" to meth heads.
They allocated $2.6 BILLION to grants for HIV /AIDS but self admit many of those projects "have no objectives" and are USELESS!!!!
The NIH is no better- with 2.4 million for a new condom design from an inventor now being investigated for fraud-
$260,000 for Michelle Obama's garden website- including a companion on line game-that's a national health concern?
And they complain about resources for developing vaccines? When they spent $939,000 on research to tell us make fruit flies prefer younger females?!?!?
$325,000 studying marriages are happier if wives calm down quicker in arguments- DUH!
$666,000 went to studying if people who watch sitcom reruns feel reconnected with pseudo-friends from their past.
They need to take the top 20 business executives in this nation and give them each one year with all these bloated bullshit bureaucracies and slash each and every one of them to the bone and start from scratch with money ONLY for needed infrastructure and development-
Perhaps we need a hard reset- this government and its waste is out of control.
Don't expect these people to save or help you

Well written--your friend has sound knowledge of the ridiculous carp that is studied via govt. grants. Waste beyond belief.

Reminds me of the underfunded computer lab, that has no computers...I think it was a Dilbert cartoon...."Pretend your teeth is your keyboard....", goes down hill from there.

Broccoli, your advise is sound. Good job. However, as far as me personally, I think you have things backwards. My team (I am just a lowly sub-contractor to the group) is the ones advising the deployed forces in Africa as to protocols and procedures. Up to two weeks ago, we were also advising the CDC, but the relationship was severed abruptly (as were others) when the CDC started their $hit.

I needed to know what the CDC was saying as some people in healthcare consider them the be-all, end-all in infectious diseases. I have to counter their mis-information or outright lies so money and time is not misspent, and panic can be kept to a minimum. I now have 17 hospitals I am advising. Need to get it right the first time with what meager resources we have left.

Just for fill-in information, consider http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/showthread.php?456177-Ebola-Facts-vs-Fiction - a post I started way back on 10/4/14.

The CDC leadership is co-opted to the political agenda in War-Sh!t-Town. All anyone needs to know is do what the CDC scientists do when handling things: Level 4.

packyderms_wife

Neither here nor there.
the best thing the hospitals could do is to get someone in from a large university that has biohazard stage/level 5&6 labs on campus. Those folks will know what to do because they don the gear every single time they enter the lab and have protocols they have to go through when exiting the lab. At this point this is what all major hospitals need to be doing, setting up a level 5/6 containment system. The centers for a disappointing circus know not what they are doing!

Tomorrow morning (Sunday), the Carnival Magic arrives in Galveston. The Univ of Texas Medical Branch (Hospital, Medical School, and level 4 underground bio-hazard labs) is located mere blocks from the cruise docks. Hopefully, all will be sorted out with the suspect lab worker and husband. If there is a need for containment, they should have facilities but not for 4000 passengers and crew. By Monday, we should have some information on the status.
