The story at link does cover a few things not reported in resent years, But five or so years ago many tide gages were found to be slowly sinking and later fixed and the data corrected for this. There was reports that same parts of the world oceans were gaining sea water and this is not posable as water seeks it own level and any increase in water in one part of the world affects all the ocean levels at the same time.
Example: You have a very large swimming pool and you pour 300 gallons of water into it at one corner and you don't see a rise in water in that one corner, but the water level of the entire swimming pool increases evenly at the same time, this is called displacement and it happens very fast.
