As most of you know, I am a retired PARAMEDIC. When I was working at the hospital, a Nurse had a book that I would use, but cant remember the title. It was a book on Diagnosing and treatment in the Nursing world. They would use it when a patient would get something new in the hospital.

Would y'all know the Title of that book? I have bought several over the years but they were not what I was looking for.

The textbook of med-surgical nursing that I have had and use, since college…

Brunner and Suddharth’s Textbook of Medical and Surgical Nursing.

I also use The Lippincott Manual of Med-Surgical Nursing.

Hope these help you…you can find used ones on eBay.

Was it small enough to carry in the pocket? Then I would agree with Walk...Nurses Pocket Guide or something similar to it.

My favorite aunt's youngest son is married to a nurse practitioner. According to her he has considered himself to be the family medical expert for years. She said he got all his medical knowledge by osmosis, because other than perhaps CPR training he has no formal medical training. But by golly he knows tons of medicine if you ask him.

this is because he has watched every episode of General Hospital, M.A.S.H, Dr Kildare, and Ben Casey.

In point of fact, M*A*S*H was DAMN solid on medical stuff. (Friend of mine was married to a doc in training and they CHECKED some of the wierder diagnoses again't the bride's diagnostic references.)

Now, Kildare and Casey were purely soaps. I checked House more times than I care to admit and he was pretty dead on as well.

Hey now! My oldest son swears he's a Dr. He's watched every episode of Grey's Anatomy at least 15 or 16 times lol. He can start spouting off medical terms like it's nothing.
And House was awesome! If I get some mysterious ailment I want him to be my dr!

I'm not especially interested in things medical, but "House" remains my all time favorite series. House could've been about anything; house painters, accountants, greasy spoon cooks, etc. and actor Hugh Laurie's House character's wicked sense of humor would've brought it off well.

The only worthwhile "medical" thing about those shows is hearing medical terminology which might or might not be useful when you're listening to your doctor.
