HEALTH 13 Woke Corporations Fighting Back Against Texas Mask Mandate Repeal

Major corporations in Texas and Mississippi are reassuring their customers they will continue to enforce mask mandates and other CDC guidelines in reaction to the state governors’ recent announcements.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott led the way, and Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves followed soon after, by repealing state-wide mask mandates and lifting lockdown orders on Tuesday. The new state guideliness give businesses the green light to return to 100% capacity.
The following 13 major corporations have already released statements or responded to inquiries that confirm their mask mandates and other coronavirus guidelines will continue to be in force despite states lifting their lockdown orders.

TARGET

“Target will continue requiring guests to wear masks in all of its stores, the company’s spokesman said, adding that the big-box retailer also required all store team members to wear masks at work, and provided them with reusable and disposable masks,” Fox Business reported.

STARBUCKS
STARBUCKSANGLEFULL-scaled.jpg

Starbucks will continue to enforce a storewide mask mandate, WSJ reported.

“The company is committed to playing a constructive role in supporting health and government officials as they work to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” Starbucks said in its July statement.

MACY’S
MACYS.jpg

“Department store operator Macy’s said its policy of needing customers and workers to wear masks in stores was going to remain unchanged,” Fox Business reported.
“Relaxing common-sense safety protocols like wearing masks is a mistake,” said Jason Brewer, vice president of Communications and State Affairs at the Retail Industry Leaders Association. Brewer added that undoing the policies would “unfairly put retail employees back in the role of enforcing guidelines still recommended by the CDC and other public health advocates.”

TOYOTA
TOYOTA.jpg

“Japanese carmaker Toyota, which has its U.S. headquarters and a factory in Texas, said it was looking into the move by Governor Greg Abbott to roll back the mask mandate and it doesn’t contemplate any immediate changes,” Fox Business reported.

HYATT
HYATTFULL-scaled.jpg

Hyatt, which was recently embarrassed by issuing a statement condemning a fake CPAC scandal, will also continue the hotel chainwide mask mandate, WSJ reported.

CVS
CVSFULL-scaled.jpg

“CVS, which began mandating masks at all stores nationwide in July as more scientific data emerged showing that face coverings help slow the virus’s spread, will continue to require them, a spokesman said,” WSJ reported. “He said CVS will continue to follow federal health guidelines.”

WALGREENS

Walgreens will continue to mandate masks, the company said.

AMC

“America’s largest theater chain, AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc., AMC has had all its Texas theaters open since last year. The company will continue to require consumers to wear masks,” WSJ reported.

GM
GMFULL-scaled.jpg

“GM, which employs about 13,500 people in Texas, said it would also maintain status quo in the state, with regards to its employees wearing masks,” Fox Business reported.
“We’ll keep our COVID-19 safety protocols in place to ensure we continue to protect our employees,” GM spokesman Patrick Morrissey said.

ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE
alamo-drafthouse-la.jpg

“Alamo Drafthouse’s mandatory mask policy remains in place, as well as our 6′ social distancing protocols, and all of the other safety measures we’ve had in place across the country since last year,” the company said Tuesday.
In related news, the New York Post reported that “Alamo Drafthouse revealed it is selling itself as the dine-in cinema chain filed for bankruptcy on Wednesday — and one of its new co-owners is a private-equity firm that has been engulfed in a child-abuse scandal.”

ALDI
Aldi_Rockhampton3-scaled.jpg

“ALDI will continue requiring customers to wear face masks inside its stores,” a company spokesperson said.
ALDI released a statement that said, in part:
“For the health and well-being of the communities we serve and for the protection of our employees, we will maintain our current nationwide policy requiring all employees and customers to wear a face covering when shopping in our stores. We will continue to assess any new guidelines issued by the CDC, and will keep our customers informed of any future changes.”

H-E-B/Central Market
Central_Market_north_Austin-scaled-1.jpg

“H-E-B and Central Market will continue requiring masks of employees while “urging” customers to wear them,” ABC reported.
“Although there is no longer a statewide mask order, H-E-B believes it is important that masks be worn in public spaces until more Texans and our Partners have access to the COVID-19 vaccine,” the company’s statement read. “As an essential service provider during the pandemic, H-E-B is focused on the health and safety of our Partners and customers. H-E-B will still require all our Partners and vendors to wear masks while at work, and we urge all customers to please wear a mask when in our stores.”

KROGER
Kroger_-_Tabb_Kiln_Creek_VA_37755148111-scaled.jpg

“Masks are required at Kroger grocery stores, according to Kroger Dallas Division corporate affairs manager April Martin,” ABC reported.
“To ensure the continued safety of our customers and associates, The Kroger Family of Companies will continue to require everyone in our stores across the country to wear masks until all our frontline grocery associates can receive the COVID-19 vaccine,” Martin said.
It will be interesting to see how long these business maintain their guidelines, as the coronavirus pandemic situation improves, due to natural cycles for such viruses, as well as millions taking the COVID-19 vaccine.
A number of their business competitors are eager to return to normal. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, “gym operator Life Time Fitness Inc., Albertsons Cos. and a number of local restaurants plan to stop mandating masks or return to normal capacity, or both.”
Not every Texas and Mississippi business is going to be willing to “get Woke, go broke.”

The spin is intended to make the reader think that the state is somehow 'blocking' anyone, or any business, from either using masks individually, or requiring masks to make entry into their businesses. All it says is don't call the state police if you see someone without a mask, cuz they will not do squat about it, and they will certainly not fine or arrest anyone.

Here in MS, the gov. left it up to individual stores. And that IMHO is the way it should of been from the beginning.

However our local news outlet, decided to run news articles depicting how scumbaggie, and totally dangerous our gov, was off the ledge, and non-scientific, in this decision.

Wear a mask, don't wear a mask, should be left up to you. To include stores. I also feel the same way about seat belts.

They have been wearing masks in Japan for decades due to pollution.

Well, I don't go to any of those places anyway. For the first time in months, I was able to actually go to Sam's Club, yesterday, without being afraid of pushback. We also were able to eat, in person, at our favorite Mom and Pop authentic Mexican restaurant when we were finished at Sam's. We were so glad to begin to taste a bit of freedom again.

Thanks to our Governor, Tate Reeves. He does have a few redeeming qualities.

Quarantine and other health related issues are a states rights issue.

On the other hand, a business can enforce any requirement they desire, including not baking a cake for a customer or no shoes, no shirt, no service.

We only went to one store, yesterday, where they were still requiring masks be worn, and also required everyone coming into the store use their hand sanitizer. That was Barnes and Nobel bookstore.

This is the way it should be. It’s not up to the State (or feds for that manner) to mandate squat. It’s up to the private businesses to implement what they think is best without threat of law either for/against. And then it’s up to the customers to patronize the businesses that they wish. Used to be called free enterprise or just freedom.

I went in a kroger not long ago and didn't wear a mask. Probably the luck of the draw. I live too far away from all of the stores listed except walgreens and I haven't been in there in a coon's age.

I mostly shop Krogers for groceries, and have a bandana that I wear. Miraculously, it fall from my face within 10 feet inside the sliding doors. Nobody cares.

To read that article, someone might think it’s a policy change for HEB. They decided back at the very beginning to not question people over masks.

Also, our CVS doesn’t make me wear a mask either.

HEB (at least in the City of Austin) had mandatory masks in line with our asshole mayor's edicts. I'll go see if they're still enforcing it after Wednesday. Randall's is on the list of no mask required now.

So Wisconsin has been mask-less for a couple months..... Why are they not talking about that? Maybe because they are getting less then a 1000 cases a day like Minnesota which still has mask mandates.

Missouri has not had a mask mandate or restrictions. I live in a county that tried to mandate masks after Thanksgiving. Health department said that families getting together for the holiday would cause the county hospital to be over run with Covid. Never mind we never stopped gathering with our families since the beginning of this. Anyway FEMA was on standby to put tents up in the hospital parking lot. Nothing of the sort happened, the mandate lasted approximately one day, after the sheriff said he would not enforce it. I’d say shopping at Kroger and wal Mart you see half the people wearing them, half do not. I haven’t seen any issues or had any myself. People just mind their own business.

That's great to hear you finally had a fun day!
In SE Missouri, we've been pretty free for many months.
If everyone just get out and go for it, just go and do what you want to do, this whole mandatory mask crap would fall across the country, especially in the red states.

Well shucks. When my coworkers were rushing around the other day with the great news, one thing came to mind - Six Flags Fiesta Texas! We've been meaning to go back since our last trip there - in 1992, the year they opened.

Well, their website says they don't want my money.

Shame.

The masks are what's making people sick, for the most part (breathing in your own bacteria).

TX ought to tell those corporations to hit the road jack.

I went into a store today to pay for a propane tank refill. On the door was a sign...

"We REQUIRE you to wear a face mask if you want to wear a face mask.
We REQUIRE you to NOT wear a face mask if you do not want to wear a face mask."

Someone there said that meets the state requirement that they post "mask requirements" on the door. I loved it!

Personally, I think their management just has a good sense of humor.

Well, it was only for a couple hours, I guess, because Evers immediately put out another EO after it was over ridden...something like that- to mandate them again.

I just do not see this as a right. As one on the right, I see a mask as a safety issue. i like driving 70 on the backroads and texting while driving but for safety reasons, I don't.
No one has the right to hurt others.

No correlation has been shown between mask usage and infection rate, severity of Covid-19, or associated morbidity. The distribution is pretty much random. However, wearing masks verifiably reduces oxygen count, is producing dental and skin diseases, and has been shown to enhance the chance of developing bacterial pneumonia, all of which are harmful, and for fragile people, often deadly.

You are correct, you do not have the right to cause me harm without reason. So you should stop, as you have no reason.

If vaccines worked, you would not have to wear a mask after one.

If masks worked, your safety would not be dependent on someone else wearing a mask.

The chances of the majority of people wearing a mask correct are slim to none unless they are a medical professional.

This is about control.

We ARE being played.

Believe it or not, that is jmho.

very few, including me have been vaccinated. you can have the virus for just over a week before feeling effects. So you have the virus, you're spewing virus out your nose and mouth all over the self check out, the whatever product you're looking at and now I come along and pick up the whatever product and go through the self checkout. The virus has now been transferred to me. A wind blows and I touch my eye. BANG, people don't want to wear a dam mask, I get the virus from a moron and die because he said it was a right.

Since we do not know and TPTB make crap up, why can't we err on the side of caution. I just do not get this conservative liberal, right, left. screw the left. I don't want to get sick.

This is the main problem in america. pick either right, way right, left, way left. I am pretty much on the right but I am moderate on some issues. come on now, I think we all, except for the politicians have some middle of the road views.
be honest.
I am correct. do not argue, it is futile. I am always right. Go ask my first wife.
