Central Virginia
We have a junk Aldi about the size of a 7-11... maybe....we went there once..got a few things..just ho hum..very little selection.. totally unimpressed..tried their canned veggies just so so... too tight and hard to shop..
Wegmans store brand veggies are inexpensive and much higher quality...they have many store brand items that are organic.... Wegmans also has great store brand of yellow fin tuna..only kind we use...they also have wonderful bakery with good crusty breads..and a great deli.. and cheese department..
On the other hand we have a large Lidl..down the road closer to home....we much prefer the Lidl.. tons of imported foods...great prices..Large German chocolate bar is only a buck... great imported foods.
We also have a Weis....they have expanded the number items they carry..so we get a wonderful selection of things not carried else where.
We are really lucky we also have a Giant Food, Food Lion, Martin's, Safeway, Publix, a couple of Walmarts, Costco and a BJ's and a good Mexican market..all within reasonable driving distance ....and three Mennonite stores.... But rarely shop at those because they are mostly tourist traps ...there is a real Amish store on working farm in southern Maryland but it is day trip as is our Rural King...also have 2 Dollar Generals real close ....We are in a very rural county of lots of large farms but about equal distance from Fredericksburg and Culpeper .... everything you could want is a bit farther away in the City of Charlottesville....
We make most of our soups from scratch...we only use few canned soups in cooking..we pick those up on sale.....like cream of mushroom and cream of chicken and such....
I do have purse full of store cards... lol
We are blessed to have so many choices but the biggest problem is the prices..things are going up at a crazy pace.. they are getting very scary.... we do watch the ads for the loss leaders..take advantage of all the sales
