Begin? Where have you been brother. We are deep into one and have been. It's not the future, it is now. It's only gonna get worse. Summer will only be worse, gas will be $5+ and everything else will be higher. Guaranteed
$5.00 gas. It is going to cripple everything.

I will point out the 1000 point drop equals 3% of total value whereas the October 1987 drop was 20% in one day for a 500 point drop. Obviously, it would take nearly a 7,000 point DOW drop in one day to equal October of 1987.:arg:
We got a long way to go yet.

Days like today are what the pundits of yester-year wrote about
on a regular basis.

Doug...the abyss of a stagflationary depression awaits.
Enjoy the good times while you can.

It takes more raw meat than 1000 dow drop to get doomer doug fired up.:lkick:And r
When cramer is committing hari kari on wall street that will peak my interest.

Doomer Doug for the win!

I don't think anyone is saying we are on easy street but what you are looking at now is peanuts for most investors. And remember, they want you to panic and make stupid choices.

Imho, you can not apply common sense, or logic or your financial acumen to todays markets.

The games being played behind the scenes requires you have knowledge of the desired endgame. What is it they are going for? The large companies like Blackrock and Vanguard along with the FED and printing of money can take the market where ever they want it to go.

No telling what they can do digitally.

GDP has always been measured in dollars, not in product.

As their warehouse fill with non essentials, they will need to find ways to clear out the inventory.
I expect that non essentials will decrease in price long enough to clear the excess.
Essentials will continue to climb.

Could pay to watch for clearances.

I've been watching like a Hawk for months. What goes up, must come down. When it does, I will be there. Most stores (even dollar stores) have clearance shelves. Haunt them. I got a shampoo I like for .50 cents. Two bottles for a dollar and they are usually almost $4. Cleaning products, bleach, all sorts of needful things. Buy cheap, stack deep.

On TB every waking moment
If you look at Sri Lanka, they rioted in the "rich people's" neighborhoods where the politicians lived. I think of all the immigrants that have flooded over the border and all the "people of color" who have been convinced of "white privilege" and can see where this is heading when there isn't enough food to eat or it is too expensive to acquire.

Heard some discussion on Greg Hunter about what will happen to retirees on pensions when the stock market tanks. The pensions will get severe haircuts when they can no longer be supported and inflation will eat up the rest. I imagine Blackrock will pick up a lot of generational wealth in real estate then. - Sorry for the thread drift

A couple weeks of trading like this, and the streets will get most interesting. Echoes of Argentina.
Yeah, it's the cumulative effect. Very rarely will we see a huge number in one day, but could easily see some major damage over a week or two.

Though at the height of a sell-off, we might be treated to a headline-grabbing one-day barn burner of a slide...

I used to love the Friday Night Just Measures Radio program. I do remember a few here being there.
Nowski, Jerry799, AUnut(me) and, I am sure, a few others. There were some great discussions there!
Oh, hell, I forgot Doc. Doc was a regular there.

Every time the big stockmarket crash is about to happen, I check with disappointment as my portfolio is stable and I have dividends paid to me. My stocks didn't drop in price except for Nancy...Covid scam...40% big whoop. Not enough forewarning to have cash on hand for mass buying...

Meanwhile, the Bitcoin to gold ratio is at major support at 16. If it breaks, there is nothing stopping a bitcoin collapse in gold terms at least all the way down to 5. That could either mean either a tripling of gold and stable bitcoin, or bitcoin collapsing 66% and gold staying stable. Or some combination of the two.

The Fed has decided after throwing Trillions upon Trillions to save banks around the world it is time to fight inflation by getting company’s to destroy millions of jobs.

That is their big plan. They have deemed your job must be sacrificed on the alter of the federal reserve note to help create the chaos for ushering in the Great Reset.

This has already started but since the media won’t cover it, most people will learn by hearing about their brother or sister or neighbor losing their job.

Could be a nasty recession, or,

The collapse will put the banking system at risk and we will wake up to an ‘emergency’ that will require a brandy new digital currency to ‘fix’ the ‘problem’ they created.
