I'm starting to think Biden is deeply disengaged now. Based on his body language in his last briefing, it seems he doesn't even know his own legacy, much less care about it. He's literally going through motions set out by his handlers.

He has nothing invested personally in any of this, because there's nobody really there.
Yeah, from all appearances, he is REALLY losing touch with reality. And there is NO way he's actually making any decisions at this point, except possibly what flavor of ice cream he wants.

It is time to obliterate that whole damn country. I wouldn't mind even destroying a few around it as well.

There is only one way to destroy these evil forces from the world...pure annihilation. Send every damn air and sea asset we have and just completely eliminate any sign of life. Yes, some civilian lives will be lost, but they don't stand a chance anyway. At least they won't suffer.
Are you referencing DC, Camp David, et al?

A US military leader just talked about reaching out to the Taliban, and he did so with a straight face.

We are in heap big doo-doo, as Rush would say...

Update: ISIS has now formally claimed responsibility for the Kabul bombings and has provided a photo of at least one alleged suicide bomber.
The ISIS statement accused the Taliban of being "in a partnership" with the U.S. military to evacuate "spies" and boasted that its bomber "managed to penetrate all the security measures imposed by the American forces and the Taliban militia in the capital Kabul."
Horrifying social media footage allegedly recorded at the scene of the bombing outside of Kabul Airport shows a pile of bodies of murdered Afghan civilians sitting amidst blood-soaked debris. More footage continues to be posted to social media showing what appears to be countless bodies of Afghan civilians floating in a dirty canal outside the gate to the airport. It is too graphic to be shared here, even to expose the ruthless megalomania of ISIS.

It struck me as odd when I read late last night that Putin had ordered all Russians out of Afghanistan and their embassy closed. When the Russians do that they've heard solid fact that things are fixing to go sideways and they have no sway with the instigators so their people are in danger too.

Definite sign the Russians had heard that ISIS was going to strike and TSHTF will be widespread around Kabul as result. Question is, are the Chinese hunkering down in their embassy basement or are they sitting in lounge chairs on the roof watching the show knowing they're off limits as targets.

Afghanistan crisis: What is Isis-K?

image captionIslamic State militants have been blamed for a series of deadly attacks in recent years - like this one on a wedding hall in Kabul in 2019
Isis-K - or to give it its more accurate name, Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) - is the regional affiliate of Isis (or so-called Islamic State) that is active in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
It is the most extreme and violent of all the jihadist militant groups in Afghanistan.
It was set up in January 2015 at the height of IS' power in Iraq and Syria, before its self-declared caliphate was defeated and dismantled by a US-led coalition.
It recruits from both Afghan and Pakistani jihadists, especially defecting members of the Afghan Taliban who don't see their own organisation as extreme enough.
How extreme is extreme?

image captionIsis-K are based in the eastern province of Nangarhar, close to drug- and people-smuggling routes in and out of Pakistan
Isis-K have been blamed for some of the worst atrocities in recent years, targeting girls' schools, hospitals and even a maternity ward where they reportedly shot dead pregnant women and nurses.
Unlike the Taliban, whose interest is confined to Afghanistan, Isis-K are part of the global IS network that seeks to carry out attacks on western, international and humanitarian targets wherever they can reach them.

Where are they located?
Isis-K are based in the eastern province of Nangarhar, close to drug- and people-smuggling routes in and out of Pakistan.
At its height the group numbered about 3,000 fighters - but has suffered significant casualties in clashes with both the US and Afghan security forces, and also with the Taliban.
Are they linked to the Taliban?
Peripherally yes, via a third party, the Haqqani network.
According to researchers, there are strong links between Isis-K and the Haqqani network, which in turn is closely linked to the Taliban.
The man now in charge of security in Kabul is Khalil Haqqani who has had a $5m (£3.6m) bounty on his head.
Dr Sajjan Gohel from the Asia Pacific Foundation has been monitoring the militant networks in Afghanistan for years.

He says "several major attacks between 2019 and 2021 involved collaboration between Isis-K, the Taliban's Haqqani network and other terror groups based in Pakistan".
When the Taliban took over Kabul on 15 August, the group released large numbers of prisoners from Pul-e-Charki jail, reportedly including IS and al-Qaeda militants. These people are now at large.
But ISIS-K have major differences with the Taliban, accusing them of abandoning Jihad and the battlefield in favour of a negotiated peace settlement hammered out in "posh hotels" in Doha, Qatar.
IS militants now represent a major security challenge for the incoming Taliban government, something the Taliban leadership shares in common with western intelligence agencies.

Screw Biden: CIA and US Troops Are Conducting Rescue Operations to Evacuate Stranded Americans
Matt VespaMatt Vespa| @mvespa1|Posted: Aug 25, 2021 7:45 PM

To Americans who might be trapped in Afghanistan after August 31, the Biden administration has two words for you: good luck. Oh, you can send an email or something to let the Biden White House know you want to leave post-deadline, but the overall message is clear. You’re on your own. Biden is going to leave Americans behind. They’ve admitted it. Why? Well, because they don’t want to anger…the Taliban. Oh, and they trust them to behave. That’s the policy. We shouldn’t have expected much because Democrats are terrible, but holy hell, guys.

The Taliban has set up checkpoints around the airport in Kabul. You can’t get to it. It’s not easy. Americans are having their passports seized. They’re being beaten by Taliban forces. It’s not safe. On top of this fiasco, al-Qaeda and ISIS are on the hunt as well. Everything that Biden has said about Afghanistan has been refuted by EVERYONE, including liberal media outlets. It’s a disaster—and Joe seems to be more concerned about build back better. That’s all you need to know about how much Joe cares; he doesn’t.

Shocking: Top US Military Commander just confirmed in Pentagon news briefing that US was sharing intelligence with Taliban in Kabul “to prevent” terror attacks. Sources say apart from classified intelligence, US also shared names and details of US citizens still on Afghan soil.
If the Taliban is still listed as a Terrorist organization, if that designation has not been removed then our Military command is guilty of high treason. But no one will do a thing about it. But families can sue the government in court if a named family member is harmed or killed.
