FOOD Sorry, This Item is No Longer Available

Neither here nor there.
It's hotter than two blazes here and I didn't feel like cooking lunch... so I went over to Wendy's to get one of my favorite sammies... but it's no longer available. In fact four of their regular menu item sammies are no longer available, as opposed to last weekend when it was only two items not available.

When will they be available again? We don't know. All beef products btw. You can still get a Dave's Burger, a Baconator, and a Chicken sammie, but not much else.

Wendy's is the only fast fud burger I will eat, given no better options. The other night (morning) after mom got moved out of the ER and into a room, I asked DW to go by our local outlet since neither of us had dinner.

It seems Eat Great Even Late (or whatever the slogan was) is no longer a thing, either. At least not here.

Our local Wendy's closes at 9pm, always has in the 20 plus years I've lived here. Don't know about other locations.

Most people, including me, either want or need to eat fast food occasionally. I've seen Packy's food posts on FaceSpy and she can (and does) make the most amazing meals.

But no one in our house wanted to cook when the temperatures got in the high 80s in Ireland a few weeks ago, nothing by the standards of many places but when you are in a 200-year-old stone house built to keep the heat in, and it is so humid you walk outside and are covered in sweat and flies, well sometimes "going down to the chipper" on the worst evening makes sense.

Or, right now we are in a Limerick hotel, with not a lot of options for cooking (yeah I know some people do throw the instant pot in the suitcase but that wasn't a viable option on this trip).

I cooked last night and have left overs for tonights dinner, made italian sausages with peppers, onion, and zucchini served with a really nice french boule that's wonderful when toasted. I have cold cuts, was just wanted something hot for lunch that didn't involve me cooking.

So I was surprised to see even more items no longer available on Wendy's menu. Shades of last summer are coming back when a lot of the fast food places had a lot items that were not available.

It's 93F with a dew point of 80 degrees here right now, and we have NO central air or AC, so I went and got myself a sammie and sat in my car with the AC blasting away and enjoyed my lunch. Thank you for your condolences.
packy kathy and i know just how you feel we have no air and a heat index of 95 to 105 again today and live in a house trailer..
we just had a big storm go thru and have lots of people with out power and when the storm is past it will get super muggy here according to the radio ..we have many power lines and trees down all over the county..

A lot of places are shutting down earlier due to staffing issues.

If there are any leftovers, I would be more than willing to come over and take care of them. I'll even wash the dishes afterwards!:)

Packy, I'm sorry your original lunch choice didn't work out, but I'm glad you got a few minutes of badly needed a/c time.
The weather should be less brutal after the Thursday storms go through.

That is concerning about Wendy's low supply. I've added that to my notes. That might be why Arby's has those tiny sandwiches, 2 for $6 right now, although I haven't actually been there -- just saw the ad.

I was out long enough to water the plants along the driveway and refill the birdbath. There was a deer drinking out of it last evening! That's how dry it is. They rarely come this far into town with all the dogs, but they've been coming in to drink from the birdbaths.

It's too brutal out there for me until the sun sets. Blah! Where's our wind ??

We recently got a Culver's, thought it was a sit down restaurant. Nope. Fastfood. So we ordered, and all I can say I will never darken their doors again. Pew. Yuck. Ack.
The ONLY thing good was the onion rings. Everything else sucked, including the price.
I gotta agree. Wife and I stopped at one, and left disappointed.

Hot weather and it's grillin' time. Yep, I'm talking breakfast, too. The gas BBQ is about 10 steps from the kitchen. I cook way more outside on the grill in summer than in the house. The oven rarely goes on June, July and August. Far as veg, do kabobs or grilled, or just cool salads.

Even in dead of winter, at least half of the meat is cooked out on the deck.

I can't even imagine what it would be like in this heat right now with no power, we have fans in every room of the house and a huge window fan upstairs that helps to move the air.

My grill is charcoal, would love to have a gas grill.
