I have both a portable charcoal and a portable propane grill for that reason! Multi-fuel is grand!
I may also dig a fire pit for the dutch oven if the SHTF.

It's hotter than two blazes here and I didn't feel like cooking lunch... so I went over to Wendy's to get one of my favorite sammies... but it's no longer available. In fact four of their regular menu item sammies are no longer available, as opposed to last weekend when it was only two items not available.

When will they be available again? We don't know. All beef products btw. You can still get a Dave's Burger, a Baconator, and a Chicken sammie, but not much else.

Jack in the box same thing for chicken strips, no inventory.

Yes, I know it tastes better, but I'm too impatient to do charcoal, plus, sure I'd never use it compared to using the propane grill nearly every day. Most stuff isn't worth wasting the charcoal...takes 10 minutes to cook almost everything.

I have other options including a wood burning cookstove in the kitchen if propane ever becomes extinct and we are relegated to cooking with sticks for fuel. ;)

Neither here nor there.
The only thing 5 guys Have going for them are their French fries, Culver’s have way better burgers.

I don’t care for either and their both expensive for what you get. There used to be a place here called Odd Fellows, miss them their burgers were so good. They also had excellent onion rings. And 5hat chocolate cherry coke, OMG diabetes in a glass! OC loved them because when you ordered a shake 5hey brought th3 leftovers to th3 table with really long spoons.

We have a Weber Performer Platinum that is a decent compromise between propane and charcoal for two people. The actual purpose of the propane 1lb bottle is to quickly light the charcoal without lighter flood so you eliminate that smell and taste while allowing the charcoal to shine thru. It is called their Touch-and-Go ignition system.

BUT we discovered that we can adequately cook a couple of burgers using just the propane flame and no charcoal at all.

You have to babysit it a little more moving the patties around to get equal time over the propane flame because the heat is not spread over a very large area and it takes a bit longer for them to get done, but in a pinch (no charcoal but craving a burger), it suffices.

Definitely something to look into. I think, and I may be wrong, black stone is the other griddle system?

To be honest a home griddle would probably keep me out of th3 drive up window. Yes I have cast iron skillets... however...
