MARANTHA!! Even so, come LORD JESUS!!!
As some of you may recall, I bought a camper several months ago and was trying to get the Quonset hut ready for it to go inside. However, having had gall bladder 112961913_1947537838714164_2192644675718648684_o.jpg109335148_1947537872047494_3674634655439968579_o.jpg115974623_1947538212047460_293203060895907231_o.jpgsurgery and a bum knee and a bad back has made that very hard.

So, they brought it anyway and it is now in the driveway>>>>In fact, it may be TOO TALL to fit inside the Quonset hut!!!! I have concrete blocks and can construct a side wall dealie thing around it and have a wood furnace that can run heat underneath it without much of a problem. Could also vent heat inside if necessary. I need Dennis to talk to me about some of this. Not a problem for summer, but will have to either get it inside the "hut" for winter or figure something out!!

I am SO EXCITED!!! I haven't had HOT water for 18 months and have been taking showers by heating enough hot water for about 4 gallons and transporting to bathroom via a 5 gallon bucket!!

If you are not familiar with my story, I had a roof supposedly "fixed." Had only one leak and it was small. The roofer did not do a decent job at all and the ENTIRE roof leaks now>>>hot water heater fell through the floor and cannot be emptied because of the calcium and lime>>>and can't even get to the water drain anyway!!

Suing is really not an option>>>>people who do this kind of crap either have no money because they spend it as fast as they get it, or they have it in someone else's name>>>>VERY common around here. THANK GOD I had only paid for the materials and what "work" had supposedly been done! At any rate, the WHOLE roof now leaks like a sieve!! Well, at least 5 BIG leaks now and the roof is only about 1/2 finished. Around here you can't find anyone willing to work>>>>especially not since the advent of FREE GOVERNMENT MONEY, or if they are supposedly willing to work they want all the money "up front">>>>>which I REFUSE to do!!

At any rate>>>>I will be able to take a SHOWER now!!! And it has all the amenities>>>runs on propane or electric and has an on-board generator, so I will make use of both and use my 500 gallon propane tank in the back yard. NOW>>>>I need to get some insurance on the thing as it costs more than I can shell out again>>>only working 2 days a week now and then also have my minuscule amount of Social Security>>>>after working 40 years at a fairly good salary!!

:eleph: :rofl:HOORAY!!

Do not run your propane appliances inside your Quonset hut unless both ends are open, unless CO is your preference for inhalation.

Properly burning propane appliances produce very, very little CO. In a tightly-sealed environment, one would be more likely to suffer hypoxia (lack of O2) instead of CO poisoning.

Having said that, it is wise to run CO detectors in any environment where combustion appliances are operated.

I have a fifth wheel that I’ve only used 1/20th as much as I thought I would when I bought it. It’s covered under a Carolina carport with 3/4 sides and I feel comforted in knowing I have a second residence if needed. Good for you on your recent purchase. You won’t be disappointed.

Having lived in campers in the past, the last time lasted over 3 years, your "camper" looks great. My FEMA camper is small, but I'm blessed to have had it, and still have it, but use it for storage. The very best of luck to you.

God is good all the time.

Just too cool.

Congrats.

How far is it from clearing the door?
The Quonset hut looks to be too short on the edges of the roof>>>>only way to fix is to raise the hut>>>>which would be close to impossible since it is cemented down!! I will have to actually get up there and measure, but things will work out>>>>>>or NOT!! I suppose I could spend the winters in the house>>>>motivate me to get up on the roof and finish myself. But OOOOOH it is HIGH>>>>>it is actually 2 stories high on one end. I would want to be tied to SOME thing if I did it>>>>I have BIG trees on the back side of the house, so I could do it that way. Scary any way you do it. That is actually what made me tell the roofer guy not to ever come back>>>he had no safety harness or anything and tried to say that was my responsibility>>> I don't think so!! I'm just glad he is GONE!! He broke his ankle and I am sorry that happened to him, but I had made them sign a contract at the beginning that they would have their own insurance if anything happened.

That's a pretty trailer! It looks very cosy and comfortable.

A few options, depending on the height differential.

From lowering the tire pressure to removing the wheels and using vehicle skates.
WOW!! That would work!! I never knew there was such a thing!!

It won't be moving once it is in there>>>>who would know about how to do that?? What kind of service company??An RV dealer??

The difference is about 3 inches!

3" to clear the A/C units?

You might get that by lowering the tire pressure to almost flat.

No, to get the edges of the trailer inside. But it would also get the A/C unit in>>>it is low profile and would be in the center of the roof, which is higher because it is a Quonset with a slight PEAK to the roof!!!

Ahh OK

It's open ended, no real "door".

It CAN be>>>>right now it has wooden ends, however they can be taken down and then put back up>>>or I was actually thinking of putting in a concrete block wall on the back end of the trailer, because people like to steal around here so much. If it had to ever be taken out>>>>like when I croak>>>the front end, which would be wooden still, could just be knocked out, the camper removed, since the hitch is on that end, and then the wall put back up once it is removed.

Properly burning may be the keywords. I don't know the details, no one does but good friend was on an elk hunt up in Wyoming a few years ago. Got really cold so he fired up a propane heater and put it in his tent. Died of CO poisoning in his sleep.

For 3" just remove the tires and bolt on some used steel wheels with no tires. Roll it in and put the tires back on if you want, or set it up on blocks so it does not bounce as you move around in it.

This too shall pass.
If you just need to lower the trailer a few inches to get it in the quonset, a combination of letting some air out of the tires, and digging out a shallow trench for each tire track should work. Lowering the trailer will be helpful in getting in and out of it, too.

Congratulations! It looks nice inside and out. And I like the corner kitchens -- the fifth wheel that we lived in for a while had one (although we didn't have any slide-outs -- those are so nice for the extra room!). Will you be able to open the slide-out inside the quonset?
