When I was watching the Portland riot last night down at the Union Hall, some streamer commented that there was a (non-police) person on one of the roof tops across the street.

It appears the opportunity for snipers is there.

On the assumption I will be engaging these fools, in my apartment lobby, and with lethal force, I am keeping a log for my grand jury session. Last night they aimed their assault green lazers at people living in apartments, while threatening to burn them to death. I would say that meets the imminent threat of grievious bodily harm and lethal threat of death.

That demonstrates intent. If they had nothing to start a fire with, they do not have ability. Let them show up with flammables and any way to block exit, any attempt to do so, and it’s on.

Well, I would be dead, in jail, or doing 1200 years in jail, and quite possibly dying from corona chan in a multnomah county jail. Observe and learn.

Portland, Oregon — A riot was again declared by authorities Sunday night in Portland when protesters marched to a police union building, blocked a road and set dumpster fires as officers work to quell nightly unrest in Oregon's largest city. The protest was over almost as soon as it began outside the Portland Police Association building - the same building where protesters were dispersed after a fire was started inside the offices the night before.

Demonstrators Sunday night marched to the building from a park a few blocks away. The road was blocked with fencing, and flames were seen rising from dumpsters in the middle of the street.

The Portland Police Association is a labor union that represents members of the Portland Police Bureau.

Police and state troopers forced a couple of hundred protesters away from the building, reports CBS Portland affiliate KOIN-TV.

While demonstrators were being dispersed, commercial-grade fireworks were thrown at officers, injuring two, police said. The department released photos of the officers' injuries, including a photo of a face covering that "partially melted" from the firework. The officers were treated at the scene.

Groups of people broke off, KOIN said. Some gathered in Kenton Park, which provoked another announcement from police that, "This is still a riot."

Some protesters returned to the union building after officers cleared the area. Police said the road was again blocked with fencing and small fires broke out in the street. Multiple people were arrested, police said, but details weren't immediately available.

KOIN reporters saw police arrest Demetria Hester, the leader of Moms United for Black Lives.

Since George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis, protests have occurred nightly in the city for more than 70 days.

Demonstrations this past week have been violent. Many in the city had hoped for calm after federal agents withdrew more than a week ago.

Three officers were hurt, including two who were taken to a hospital, during the efforts to clear the crowd of several hundred people outside the union building late Saturday. The two hospitalized officers have since been released. Nine people were arrested during the protest, police said in a statement.

Police arrested 24 people during demonstrations overnight Friday after, they said, people defied orders to disperse and threw rocks, frozen or hard-boiled eggs and commercial-grade fireworks at officers.

Some demonstrators filled pool noodles with nails and placed them in the road, causing extensive damage to a patrol vehicle, police said. Oregon State Police worked with Portland officers to clear the protesters.

The gatherings this past week had been noticeably smaller than the crowds of thousands who turned out nightly for about two weeks in July to protest the presence of U.S. agents sent by the Trump administration to protect the federal courthouse downtown.

The Portland Police Association building is located about 5 miles north of the federal courthouse.

Riots continued in Portland on Sunday, where a police facility was attacked, officers were injured, and 16 people were arrested for “interfering with a peace officer”–despite claims by Democrats in Oregon and Congress that the protests are mostly peaceful and turned violent only because of the presence of federal police.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which is tasked with protecting the federal courthouse in Portland and federal buildings across the country, increased the number of federal officers in mid-summer but have returned to being stationed inside the facility while local and state police are responsible for the exterior:

But Portland Police issued a press release that not only described the criminal behavior taking place in the city but said that officers stood down at the height of the riot:

The group continued into Kenton Park and began to reconvene. More warnings were given, and those that did not leave were moved out of the park.

A smaller group made their way back to the PPA [Portland Police Association] offices where they were again warned that it was a riot and they were to disperse. Multiple arrests were made.

In an effort to deescalate, police left the area. Some individuals moved back out onto Lombard Street, blocking traffic with dumpsters, pieces of fencing, and other items. Some small fires were lit in the roadway. Those in the street were warned to move to the sidewalk. After some time, they moved aside and reopened the street.

But according to eyewitness accounts and police, the rioters were extremely violent and police made an effort early in the evening to control them:

“Overnight on 9–10 Aug, antifa rioters in Portland descended on the police union building again after burning it the previous night,” citizen journalist Andy Ngo tweeted on Sunday. “They immediately began blocking the street w/a fire. Antifa threw explosives at responding police. 2 suffered burn injuries.”

“Oregon State Police and @PortlandPolice move antifa rioters back in north Portland tonight,” Ngo tweeted. “Rioters set up street blockades again and throw an explosive right in the middle of cops. #PortlandRiots #antifa”:

As Breitbart News reported, black residents who oppose the riots because of threats to their families and community tried to voice their concerns over the weekend but left-wing Black Lives Matter activists drowned them out.

Portland police released the names of those arrested:

Odds are none of them will actually be prosecute for anything. The arrests takes them off the street for the rest of the night but they'll be back at it again tonight.
