abby normal

Whoever called this the "new normal " was way off. They should call it the "new weird " because every day is like the twilight zone and there's no rhyme or reason to it.
Went to Aldi in central Ohio yesterday. The county I live in, and the county I travel to for groceries, combined- have had 4 deaths from corona. I never liked masks, but at this point I've established that driving to the store is statistically riskier than going maskless. But I digress...
Since visiting this store a month ago there is new and increased signage about masks and social distancing. Despite our state's order exempting kids under 10 from masks, Aldi was requiring any kids over age 2 to wear them. A couple monthsago it was common to see store employees wiping down carts but I haven't seen that in quite a while, though some stores have supplies available should the customer want to do so. But again I digress.
We enter the store sans masks as is our habit. Thankfully it was not crowded, since I do like to give people space out of courtesy. About 25% of the customers were not wearing masks, compared to my last trip to Kroger where everyone but me and DH were masked. The Amish are still not masking.
Everything seemed well stocked for the most part with some thin areas. Limits on meat have returned.
At the checkout my total comes up with. 99 due for the change part, told the cashier she could keep the penny due to coin shortage. She actually gave me change... I know it was only a penny but I was surprised.
