NO Hormel canned hot tamales. I cannot find them anywhere, not even on Amazon.
I won't go into the store to shop. I do curbside pickup or online. Last week I ordered a 4 pack or Kroger green beans for $2.19 and got 4 single cans of Green Giant for the same price.
I don't know everything coming our way but I don't have good feelings about it. I continue to add to my preps every shopping trip. A pack of TP or extra canned goods, an extra shampoo- it all adds up. I have a good stock right now. We would not last for a year but maybe several months, 3-4 months. Do what you can as you can. God bless everyone.

interestingly seasonings and spices continued to be pretty well picked through . . .
It finally occurred to me why there are almost no canning jars to be found. Other than more people are canning, they are a seasonal item.
If you have any farm supply stores in the area, try there. Ours have 4 -6 pallets full of jars near the front, as well as long shelves of lids and other canning equipment. (I'm in Central Iowa)
Theisens, Bomgaars, Orschliens, and Ace Hardware in my area are out of lids...
Fleet Farm, Tractor Supply (Ankeny), and Theisens (Indianola) had both regular and wide-mouth lids on Friday -- I helped a lady rebuild her canning supplies.
I order glass jars from Vitacost and they pad theirs really well. They even wrap the cans. All in all their packaging is better than anyone else.Laughing here. I decided to try out the various shipping options for staples..mostly canned, so ordered butter beans, chickpeas, canned pasta sauce, mixed veg, etc. from Target to be shipped to the door. As a test, I also ordered 4 jars of pickled beets. Figured if they made it here in one piece, the boxes would either have had to be packed well, or handled well.
Haha! Just got email notices that (strangely) the box with the jarred pickled beets and various other cans was returned to the shipper because of damage, (could it be a bleeding red beet mess?) and I have been credited with the return, plus given a discount code for a next order.
So much for THAT little experiment.
I've ordered (several times now) grocery items in glass jars/bottles from Walmart.com and every single one made it in perfect shape. I was shocked by how well they pack their boxes. Very surprised by the apparent care that was taken.Laughing here. This was Tylenol ibuprofen chewable baby aspirin and naproxen type stuffAt my wal mart today we had a severe run on all pain medications. I think people are realizing most store pain meds are made in China. And with the dam about to collapse it seems prudent to stock up.
IF WE(SHE) MAKE BROWN BREAD IT WOULD NOT LAST 10 HOURSBoston Brown Bread was one of the comfort foods of my childhood. To this day, I still make it myself.
Year or so ago I used to buy peaches in glass jar at Walmart. Don't remember the brand, but they were delicious. You may be able to find some there.Anyone going to Costco stores - have you seen any of their Kirkland brand sliced peaches in the glass jars? We're getting low, and before I head to a Costco I'm hoping they are in stock somewhere.....gives me hope that they'll be in our Costco (which is several hours round trip for us).
