Well worn rounded asphalt??
I think it's Andesite Porphyry
Will a magnet stick to it?My wife and I were on the north shore of Superior yesterday, and she found this. About 2" across. The dark grey is very hard, as is the tan specks, which oddly are very rectilinear.
What in the world is this? How did it form?

It's pretty hot here too, and was on the north shore as well. We've had mid to high 90s for about two weeks, and just recently the dew point finally went down. So, you're not alone.

well, yes indeedy, I did.....this came from panning moss and "the TURD". Yes, it's small...but finding your own gold...is way better than finding easter eggs as a kidConewago Creek, York, PA View attachment 208214
