For Christmas things pioneer square can max out at 10,000, so 5,000 is credible.
The koin camera crew is literally one block away from me.
Morrison and broadway is out my door go left and there i am. I have also had riots up and down morrison and two times i have had them right below my 5th floor window.

There are between 7,000 to 10,000 people demonstrating in Portland, Oregon today, according to Portland police spokesperson Michael Roberts.
He said there are two main groups of protesters -- one that started at Pioneer Courthouse Square and one at Revolutionary Hall.
“The group from Revolutionary Hall marched across the Burnside bridge to mid-span where they all laid down for a brief period,” said Roberts. “They are continuing downtown and it had been peaceful thus far. We have not made any arrests related to this demonstration at this time.”

Seattle announces evening curfew through June 6

Seattle Mayor Jenny A. Durkan signed a civil emergency order on Tuesday extending the evening curfew through June 6, according to a copy of the order obtained by CNN.
The curfew extends every night from 9 p.m. local time until 5 a.m. the next morning. In the order, Durkan cited violence and looting as factors prompting the curfew, as well as the dangers of Covid-19 infection that are still present.
The curfew does not apply to law enforcement, emergency personnel, city and government officials, members of the news media authorized in advance, and workers engaged in essential functions like medical care, according to the order.
Those who violate the curfew could face imprisonment and/or a fine of up to $500.

Oh yeah, PPD is going to protect the actual pioneer court house which dates back to 1860 or so. It is also a federal landmark and has a 9th circuit court judge assigned there.

UPDATE: We’ve obtained a photo of accused National Guard impersonator Gregory Wong being arrested by LAPD. Source says National Guard soldiers noticed his rifle isn’t what they are issued & they reported him. Wong allegedly claimed to be joining buddy in a Guard unit.

Sources tell me Wong arrived in an Uber during curfew & tried to get into formation with the National Guard when he was noticed for having a AR-15 instead of M16. I’m told he said he wanted to defend a jewelry store from looters, but he never left the formation.

Final update. Those who know Wong tell me he had good intentions and made a dumb mistake. I’m told he had been posting on FB he’s available to help defend businesses & didn’t get many responses. He is into cosplay and LAPD tells us they don’t believe he intended any harm.

Dougie's not a dewy eyed idealist. He's observed the enemy in it's natural habitat for years now, and I think my $$$ is on his ability to gauge the situation, and now how and when to fade away.
Still Dougie shouldn't be worrying us when he could be sitting in a darkened, open window of his relatively safe apt to gather his intell instead of on the water front or wherever he's skipped off to now.
