I went to Tractor Supply today to pick up some alfalfa pellets and a couple extra gas cans. I heard 2 employees talking about how they were going to survive for 50 days if/when they shut down the store. So just a heads up on people needing anything from tractor supply. Of course like everyone they do have online ordering, but if you are paying shipping on a 40 pound sack of feed, it is pricey.
Just a little dot:
I was on my bike today and passed by the main pharmacy in our little town of Poplarville in southern Mississippi. Thus far, this area has escaped most of the shortages and buying insanity seen in much of the country. I noticed that there were no cars in front of the pharmacy - which is very unusual - and further noticed that there were new signs in the windows. I couldn't read the signs from the road, so pulled into the parking lot.
Soooo, the signs all read "To protect you, we are no longer allowing pickup at our counter. Call 601 *** **** and we will give you your prescriptions at the front door."
The fear is ramping up, folks. Those signs attempted to camouflage the obvious fact that this new procedure was put in place to protect the pharmacy workers more so than their customers. I can't say that I blame them. I have several scripts waiting there and I'll call them in the morning to see how they want people to pay for their meds. Will they want checks, cash with exact change or do they have a portable card machine?
I think it's obvious that pharmacy employees aren't any more likely to catch Corona than employees at any other retail business. Sure, pharmacy employees might be more liable to catch other diseases because they're in the business of constantly dealing with sick people, but in the ten years I've been here I've never seen this pharmacy, or any other local ones, do anything like this. I suspect that the pharmacy folks, being part of the medical community, have a better handle on the dangers than employees at a supermarket. Will other businesses start doing something similar soon, or just close outright?
Also, I stopped very briefly at a gas station and for the first time they had hand sanitizer dispensers at the checkout counter and the staff looked none too happy. Also, the two people working the counter were brand new employees I'd never seen before. This operation doesn't have a high employee turnover and a lot of the staff has been there for years. Were the regular employees sick or did they just decide that the risk of working the counter wasn't worth it?
We are living in perilous times friends - and they are only going to get worse.

I picked up 80 - 6' T=posts and 500' of welded wire fence last night, they said they are slow on the bigger stuff that I was buying but very busy selling smaller stuff like pet food. I also filled my trailer with 4x4 posts at Home Depot, that place was a ghost town... Said they are busy in the morning, but afternoon in to evening is quiet. The Kroger in SE GA has a lot of empty shelves. No bread, canned soups, canned veggies, could cuts, milk, eggs, frozen veggies or bottled water. Meat counter was closed and locked. They had some packaged meat and plenty of frozen seafood and plenty of cooked chicken. They had a fair amount of fresh veggies. The cold and flu section was about half filled.
No bread products in Winn Dixie or Publix today. That was weird. Space coast,Florida.
The majority of the food is being rerouted to the major cities to keep them from rioting... you've been warned.
See if your store has any kind of yeast left. If not, get baking powder. There are so many really super easy bread recipes, even I can make it.

Y’all have been buying bread flour, haven’t you?If folks already have baking ingredients at home, now is a good time to learn how to make your own bread.

Picked up 20 pounds flour early on. Still have maybe a pound of frozen yeast. I let the machine make the bread, including baking. I can handle square slices. My last trip into town, I added another 20 lbs. to my stockpile. Also, 6 containers of yeast. I'm good to go. I don't do so well with bread recipes that have to be kneaded. I like the quick batter, no-knead breads.
Went shopping a few days ago, been a while since I’ve visited these stores. CostLess, have recently got rice and beans there. Parking lot very full, handful of carts in the corral. Checkout line went back to produce. Left.
Smart and Final. Pretty stripped, no water, saw some tripe in the meat close out. Probably still there. Nabbed a dozen cans of tomato sauce.
Target, all paper stuff totally bare. Ladies things kinda skimpy. Medicine skimpy.
Raleys, pasta & sauce aisle stripped. Canned veggies stripped. Soup stripped. Lunch meat stripped. Fresh pasta stripped. Butter pretty picked over. Bread had some hot dog buns. Didn’t bother looking for water or TP.
My SIL does that. If I’m buying it, I’ll get the better stuff. True, not much diff. For most bread recipes, I have found you really don't need bread flour. Regular will do nicely.

That brings back memories.... was working in Mexico and we would often take clients out to lunch or dinner. Dinner was always some seafood place, was actually decent. You made me laugh. Only person I ever saw eat tripe was one of my old teen girlfriends. When we all went out to the bars to hear bands, sometimes they had food too. She'd sneak off and sit at the bar and order tripe. It looked like cut up sponges in sauce. I said to her how can you eat that? She said it was good. I dunno, how good can it be if it was only 25 cents a bowl.
