WHAT IF:

THE HOTTER WEATHER MAKES IT STRONGER AND FASTER?

you forget that right now, here I have a wind chill of about 15 degrees, not many people out and about, and those that are , are bundled up pretty well, when spring and summer get here people will be having more contact,, parties, back yard BBQ,s there will just be more people getting together, with that it will be easier to spread this, and if it can be spread by contact. there will be a lot more skin showing.

My girlfriend (she is Chinese) was telling me the other day she is beginning to think the Chinese govt did this intentionally to crack down on their people. She said that Xi and the current govt are not real popular and that if Hong Kong were to split off they would lose so much face they would lose power.

I asked her if they were really that dead set on maintaining power that they would kill thousands and wreck their own economy in the process. She basically told me they don’t care how drastic the action needed to maintain power.

This was just her personal opinion on the matter so take it with a grain of salt, but until we start to see the pandemic really start to take hold outside of China, it seems to be a likely scenario considering the CCPs actions so far.

No cases in Thailand? I thought there were 15-20. Interesting to watch who says what, well, in the way ya are compelled to watch a train wreck unfold . Still, will take a lot to convince me this is asian only illness. :: Shruggin ::

Interesting too that folks are starting to discuss spring and weather as possible relief...those empty parks in china have some cherry and plum tree blooms! C'mon spring!

I am in total agreement. Joking aside.

Societies collapse for much less. If we are talking about a world wide collapse, the barrier is a bit higher.
Yet even with their numbers, they are showing 1/3 of the people who get this die. 75% required advanced medical care.

Our own society shows us how little it takes to cause a panic, ( black friday as an example, or popeye's chicken being out), and we are immune to being led astray by our government. A thing that will increase the level of panic, (government trust).

So I can agree with the possibility there will be no China as we know it in 60 days. The rest of Asia? The world?

I also think Africa is the next place this will go off the rails if what I am reading is true about 1 million and no medical checking.

That is two of seven areas of our world that may just go dark.... in less than 16 weeks...
What is your best guess as to when we'll need to implement the two weeks+?
IF!!... the numbers continue to track and the 14th there are 150,000 I’ll limit my activity. I plan on 2 runs to fill 3-40 pound and 6-20 pound propane tanks and pick up 6-50 gallon food grade water barrels. By the 3rd of March IF numbers are still tracking showing 9.6 million my family is locked away and we’ll see y’all on the other side, two weeks later it should track to 300 million and a week later, well..... Me and DD could’ve been buds, I know we tend to lean all apocalyptic but history, human nature and Mother Nature are all coming together with this bug.

Actually she is not wrong. Look at recent history. Mao and his great leap forward killed millions upon millions just to hold onto power and make the changes he wanted.

Who is to say this isn't the same thing here.....

Read this stunning comment left by “Wyoming Doc,” a physician in Wyoming whose wife is an immigrant from China:

Has been a while since I last wrote anything. I have had the flu and have been home with my wife for the past several days. It has been fascinating. Our satellite TV provider has a service wherein you can subscribe to the People’s Republic official TV station.

There have now been four occasions where I have witnessed on live Chinese national TV public officials being frog-marched out of press conferences in hand irons. Their crimes? One had his mask on upside down. One did not have a mask on at all. One was stating (translated by my wife) that he had repeatedly been telling Beijing about the problems for weeks – and there was no response. One was answering every question with obvious double-speak (not unlike listening to Nancy Pelosi or Ted Cruz). Shortly into the press conferences, young men from the PLA show up – slapped on the hand irons – and hauled them out and in all 4 cases – it was just stunned silence in the rooms. My wife just casually tells me – “no one will ever see them again.” It is also clear to me as a physician – listening to the Chinese doctors – and viewing footage from the hospitals and clinics – that this is many orders of magnitude worse than what they are saying. Common sense will tell you that as well – are they really going to torpedo their entire industrial heartland for months – just because 300 people have died? — I think not – I think this is way worse than we can possibly imagine.

My mother-in-law lives in a smaller city – far on the western fringe of China – If Wuhan were Atlanta – she would be in a place like Boise. She had a fever about 8 days ago. Please note – official statistics note that there are 9 people in her province confirmed to have the virus. This belies the fact that she (never known to me to be a liar or fabulist ) has been telling my wife for days that there are hundreds upon hundreds of people all over the sidewalks and streets outside the hospital – and that the hospital is completely filled with patients. And apparently the crematorium has been very busy. Of most grave concern to her – is Beijing nationalized all of their small province’s health care workers and sent them to Shanghai or Beijing – leaving their city of a million with only a handful of doctors. When she had her fever – a nurse looked at her for 10 minutes. They found out she had a runny nose – and because of the runny nose told her she did NOT have the virus. NO TEST WAS EVER DONE – WHY? they simply do not have enough kits – and are having to go by their gut instinct. She was sent back to her own home – and placed in quarantine there – never having been tested. She is unable to leave – and this is being violently enforced in her city. They bring her food 3 times a week. All this to say – any and all numbers coming from China are highly suspect – and basically worthless. And thankfully my mother-in-law is getting much better.

Her younger brother and his young family live in Nanjing. I cannot tell you the grief expressed by my wife the other night – when he called her the last time – and said all international calls have been stopped effective at midnight that day. Nanjing is now under martial law – for the first time since the Japanese occupation before World War II. He told her about the tanks going down the streets and all the main streets being guarded by men with sub-machine guns. All exits out of the city are now being blocked with layers of concrete blocks. Each family has to designate one person who can go outside 2 times a week – to the nearest store for food and supplies. Anyone caught on the streets without appropriate permission – or not wearing a mask is immediately arrested – and placed in quarantine camps themselves. Anyone who thinks this is all being done just because of a “flu” or “a little virus” really needs to have their head examined.

Her father is in Beijing – and has not been heard from in two weeks.

I pray for my wife – all the time. This has been incredibly hard on our family. But we will make it. What I can also tell you – based on my wife’s multiple conversations with friends back home – is that this is really beginning to stir the hearts and minds of the Chinese people. Thoughts about Xi Xinping that would have been never thought to say out loud are being said now – and the whole country seems to be galvanizing around the fact that they have been seriously let down by the Communist Party. I am not sure what will come of that – but this could not have happened at a worse time for Xi – the Hong Kong fiasco – the pork virus disaster – and the trade war with the USA – and now this – the country will soon be at the breaking point.

My other question is for us in the USA. Our supply lines – especially in things like medicine are DEPENDENT now on China. I have been saying for years this is a national security issue. And now their industrial heartland is on its knees. I do not know anything about auto parts and widgets – I do know a lot about medicine. There are many many things (saline bags, cardiac IV meds, antibiotics, blood pressure meds, diabetes meds, I can go on and on) that are only made in China. For the first time since this crisis began – late last week saw the very first issues I am having with my patients not being able to get things. We are promised this will just be the beginning. [emphasis mine — rd] There is no way that we can re-engineer factories quickly to start making things here – it will be at least a year. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO? When will the Chinese be able to get back to work – is an open question….. This situation was brought on by globalization and neo-liberal policies. It is truly a national security issue at this point – and I think we are all about to get a big dose of blowback. OUR ELITES ON BOTH SIDES HAVE COMPLETELY FAILED US. THE COUNTRY NEEDS A POLITICAL ENEMA IN THE WORST WAY.

Have you noticed anything yet?

Or... It hasn't been tried on another patient yet

Or... it has been tried and sufficient time hasn't elapsed to be sure of efficacy

Or... the sample size is deemed to small to release the results

Or... ???
Dr. John Campbell said that the one HIV treatment drug that had promise was being tested in a large double-blind test on patients in China now, but the results would not be available until sometime in April.

I made one of my final Walmart runs over the weekend before we hunker in for several weeks. I have to go out one more time on Tuesday to pick up some extra meds from the pharmacy. But when I was there on Friday, I noticed A LOT of empty spots on the shelves. There were several items in the canned/packaged goods aisles that had only one row of stocks. I was surprised to see that. I didn't know whether it was from preppers stocking up, or if these were supply lines already being affected. I'll try to get some photos when I go back on Tuesday. I do not live that far from where this pic was taken, but I don't know why they would be this empty. Seems strange to me.

I have noticed that all the ExPat videos being done in China now have several common themes:
(1) The government response was as rapid as any one would see from any other government in the civilized world.
(2) The government response was likely more responsible than other governments would have been by taking extreme measures of large quarantines
(3) The people of China are heroic in their sacrifice
(4) That "social stability" is of the utmost importance.
(5) That the scientists and the government know what is best for the people, who have great faith in them

I have picked up the theme that China wants the world to see it as a modern, civilized country. but that the "Lost Generation" (uneducated Boomers raised under the Maoist regime) are not always cooperating. The people are beginning to buckle under the stress of quarantine and cracks like the Hong Kong freedom movement and the rallying point of the death of Dr Li pose a threat to the stability of the regime. The US must not be seen as the savior hero riding in to save the day in this crisis.

They have not been allowed into ground zero and I imagine that they haven't been doing all that much in China. Here is a nice article from govco approved news source that shows CDC is being very limited. In short, I believe China is terrified by what may be found and the fallout that would follow when governments started cutting off business from working in a rogue state much like they have done to Iran and N Korea

C.D.C. and W.H.O. Offers to Help China Have Been Ignored for Weeks Privately, Chinese doctors say they need outside expertise. But Beijing, without saying why, has shown no interest so far.

For more than a month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been offering to send a team of experts to China to observe its coronavirus outbreak and help if it can.

Normally, teams from the agency’s Epidemic Intelligence Service can be in the air within 24 hours.

But no invitation has come — and no one can publicly explain why.

The World Health Organization, which made a similar offer about two weeks ago, appears to be facing the same cold shoulder, though a spokeswoman said it is just “sorting out arrangements.”

They rest is at the link.
Our CDC has been helping China and the Chinese CDC for years in terms of viruses and other organisms that cause disease. And the CDC (and sometimes WHO) provides the candidate flu viruses they collect in China to give to private vaccine manufacturers to make our yearly flu vaccines.

The CDC knows a lot more than they are telling us about this coronavirus in China and here. Wouldn't doubt them having samples collected in China. The CDC has feelers out everywhere! Our CDC does surveillance and operational research in China. They have a small staff working there. As I've written before, don't trust the CDC.

China may not be letting them in to Wuhan, but CDC is still 'there'...somehow.

Looks like for all our CDC has helped them with....not much one can do with an engineered coronavirus.
What CDC is Doing In China:
CDC has supported China CDC’s national influenza laboratory for more than 20 years. CDC works in close partnership with the China CDC’s National Influenza Epidemiology, Virology, and Pandemic Preparedness Centers, China’s provincial and local CDCs, hospitals, and academic institutions. CDC supports Chinese partners in monitoring seasonal and novel influenza viruses, as well as enhancing efforts to detect and respond to seasonal, avian, and other novel influenza viruses with pandemic potential. With the establishment of the Chinese National Influenza Surveillance Network, China now has advanced capabilities to monitor and assess the risk of influenza viruses circulating in China, to collect evidence about influenza disease burden and vaccine effectiveness, and to share data with the international community.
CDC’s key supporting activities include:

  • Strengthening influenza surveillance for seasonal and novel influenza viruses
  • Conducting research to estimate disease burden and vaccine effectiveness among populations at greatest risk (including young children, older adults and pregnant women)
  • Promoting influenza vaccination policy development and coverage
  • Supporting novel virus risk assessments
  • Establishing pandemic influenza preparedness in China
  • Maintaining close ties between U.S. and China influenza experts

It sounds in some ways it has some parallels to the Holocaust! I read those books quite a bit because I always thought history could repeat itself! This is going to affect our world immensely! I often thought our trade dependence on other countries would become a major weakness! Even if they contain this virus from not coming here, our life as we know it will never be the same! Many people need to wake up!

Cipro damages our mitochondrial dna and it's permanent. I wouldn't use it unless only as a last resort. - For anyone that asks no I don't have a link as this is from research I did 10 or 12 years ago and had to dig hard to find it. Pharm. companies try to hide it. It's under the same class of drugs of which several had already been pulled for the harmful side effects.
A lot of Gulf War veterans have issues from taking Cipro. I wouldn't take it unless it was a last resort. I don't think antibiotics work on coronavirus or the pneumonia caused from it.

The video:
Washington Doctors Successfully Treat Coronavirus Patient - Results Seen in hours, Patient Sent Home
runtime: 4min 24sec

From BREAKING: Washington Doctors SUCCESSFULLY Treat Coronavirus Patient with Experimental Anti-viral Medication -- "Significantly" Improved in Hours (VIDEO)
EXCERPT

Dr. George Diaz: About a week into his course he got worse developed pneumonia. At that point given the reports we had gotten out of China… At that point we elected to give him… the experimental Remdesivir, antiviral medication. And within 24 hours he improved significantly. This was quite encouraging and he improved and thereafter remained without fever and felt much better. Over the next few days he improved to where we thought he could be discharged at home under the care of the local health district.
Arthel Neville: And you said you used, I believe an experimental anti-viral medication, that you gave this patient. Can you apply this treatment to ALL people infected with the coronavirus or does it depend on the stage of their infection?
Dr. George Diaz: Yes, at this point the CDC has been working with the authorities in China and have recently opened a large clinical trial of Chinese patients looking at those with severe disease as well as those with mild to moderate disease. We are very much looking forward to the trials.
What about the guy in the UK (I believe) who was released from a hospital and two days later they did swabs and found that he had 10 to the 8th coronavirus per ml in his sputum. Quarantine these people or let them out in public??? I don't think anyone knows what to do with people like this.

Did they die in NK or China?
This is how the story goes...

Sources: Five N. Koreans died from coronavirus infections
North Korea has a long history of covering up or under reporting deaths caused by contagious disease outbreaks

infections

Daily NK sources in North Pyongan Province reported today that five people died after suffering from fevers at hospitals in Sinuiju and a nearby area, and have speculated the patients suffered from coronavirus infections.
The Wuhan coronavirus has spread in China over recent weeks and North Korean officials have taken strong measures to prevent the spread of the contagion into the country.
Daily NK sources said that North Korean authorities have ordered public health officials in Sinuiju to quickly dispose of the bodies and keep the deaths secret from the public.
A STRING OF DEATHS
A North Pyongan Province source told Daily NK that one of the patients went to a hospital in Sinuiju late last month with symptoms similar to a cold and was given fever reducers and anti-biotics. The patient’s fever worsened until, finally, they died.
Daily NK sources also reported that two patients at another hospital in Sinuiju two days later were given medicine to treat their high fevers, but ultimately died. Two more patients at a hospital in Wuiju County, near Sinuiju, reportedly died in early February.

Daily NK was unable to ascertain the ages, gender, occupation, or recent travel history of any of the patients.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has yet to officially confirm any cases of Wuhan coronavirus infections in North Korea. The WHO, however, bases its data regarding infection cases on reports provided by the North Korean government, which means there are limits to confirming the veracity of the WHO’s data.
North Korea has hinted at having quarantined suspected cases of Wuhan coronavirus infections. An official with the Ministry of Public Health was recently quoted as saying that suspected cases of infections who suffer from fevers or coughs are being quarantined and treated. The country has not yet confirmed any infection cases.
Daily NK has reported that North Korean authorities have taken stringent steps to close down the border – even suspending trade with China – and has taken the drastic step of shutting down Sinuiju Port, a major hub for trade in the region. These measures may have prevented an outbreak of the coronavirus in the country.
A HISTORY OF SILENCE
The North Korean leadership, however, has a history of failing to report outbreaks of contagious diseases, or has under reported deaths caused by outbreaks. North Korean officials appear to have been concerned that frank reports about outbreaks could lead to internal unrest or pose a danger to the regime.
North Korea’s state-run media reported on worldwide deaths caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in 2003, the Ebola virus in 2014 and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) in 2015, but failed to publish any reports on infection cases in the country.
The recently reported deaths of patients with high fevers in North Pyongan Province has caused concern among some North Koreans that the Wuhan coronavirus has already spread into the country.
“There’s rumors that the [corona]virus is already spreading,” one source in the province told Daily NK.
“If the deaths were caused by the [corona]virus, North Korean authorities need to take measures to deal with the outbreak instead of trying to cover it up,” he added.

EXCERPT AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE: Plague Pushes China To Breaking Point

Yup. The bad things are true, all true.

This is terrifying.

TB Fanatic
OAN said the American that died today in Wuhan was the FIRST non-Chinese citizen to DIE from it. I dont know about the veracity of this info, but that is what the girl that is on from 1400-1500 central time said. No link, saw it on the TV.

ETA: They didn't mention ethnicity, only citizenship.

A few pages up the name of the American in China who succumbed to the coronavirus was posted after the story was released and it was a Chinese name. So he is an American citizen but of Asian race.
