Looks like drill a couple holes and suction is lost.
I've got no doubt it has some kind of screaming device if this is done tho.
Doesn't look cheap either, we need MORE fed funding!
I figure somebody will come up with clear spray or some such that allows you to still see but suction cups won't suck to

Interesting that on this board with a group of "upright people," the first thoughts are of how to defeat this technology.

Better than stumbling along like a sheep with blinders on accepting whatever is thrown at you.

Thought exercises like this might apply to a different scenario at some point.

I always ask, "How does this work and how can I defeat it (or make it better)" as a matter of learning.

There is absolutely zero articles stating the IRS purchased 500,000 of these units.
Maybe, maybe not. I don't recall seeing articles when the IRS purchased ammo. Purchases like this usually show up only as a RFP (Request for Purchase). Perhaps the solicitation was for a lease even though it was through a RFP.

The bureaucracy is full of despicable, stupid, and corrupt tyrannical scum.

When I left CA to move to AZ, CA hounded me for renewal fees on my car, threatening to send me to collections. Their DMV case number was my new AZ plate number... and they still hounded me for fees they knew I didn't owe.....

This technology gives very bad people more leverage over decent folks' lives.....

Sounds like another reason to carry a Leatherman tool. The awl could very quickly make a hole in the plastic.

Start spreading the word that the enclosed electronics contain a lot of real gold that can be easily sold to any scrap dealer.

Defeating the road pirates on your own vehicle still doesn't make the original "offense" go away. Using the term offensive loosely here.

It just may add further fines or charges. Don't forget the schmuck that double-parked or ignored the meter IS an aggravation to everyone else.

The implied use for other offenses probably strikes most of us as overreach.

You’re right of course, but I still like to think about how to defeat these types of things because that’s just fun to think about.

If a schmuk parks stupid or doesn’t follow the parking rules tow the damm car, don’t put a SpongeBob on the window and keep the car there screwing up parking for everyone for who knows how long

Also - there’s going to be a lot of people whose very first thought is wtf get it off! And they’ll smash them up leading to additional fines, charges and plugging up the courts, plugging up the windshield replacement services industry - a vehicle towed keeps all this drama out of the courts so the courts can focus on real issues - should they ever pull their heads out of their liberal asses

Because we all see how easily it can be misused by our out-of-control government. Parking tickets aren’t the problem. Things like your social score being too low, so the gov’t is canceling you IS…

Um. Why can't the police take down your License Plate number, call a tow truck, and send you a violation notice in the mail and tell you where to pick up the car when the bill is paid?

Are "Impound Lots" now economically disadvantageous?

"Hey, you can't park that animal there" comes to mind.

money? whats that?
A paint scraper to break the suction, and it is gone. Explaining to the court how a car with YOUR license number and with one of those things on your windshield managed to drive away without it in place, will be a bit more tricky.

Something I just thought of: a person could buy an old set of license plates and put magnets on the back. Then stick those plates over the real ones when they’ll be away from the car for awhile.
Isn't the VID able to be read through the windshield (in front of the driver?)

Many ways to trace back penalty fees...

I don’t understand what you mean.
Modern cars have a "plate" attached to the top of the dashboard which has printed on it the Vehicle Identification Number. This number CAN be shown on one's registration (depending on the state) and is used to trace stolen cars.

I suppose you could "cover" the number with a map or paper to prevent reading without the car being opened.

Nothing a vintage playboy magazine won’t cover up, I got a boat launch permit obscuring mine

It’s not required to be unobstructed unlike license plates

As for the magnetic license plate I think it would better to have nothing displayed than a fake one
(as for legal issues)

But if I did have a fake one….it would belong to the mayor of said city

Funny thing about IoT devices like these is that the need to have an internet connection that is not tapping off WiFi, so... Six small Torx screws later and...

Then there is bigger fun when the pros get on the case......:

This may not work if the software does a live lookup of the plate to see if it is real/active to that car. :hmm:
