They did the same thing when they called hunger "food insecurity". At my house, it was panic, there's nothing, when will I be able to eat, how long, what will i do, how long can i go hungry and still work?

as an aside.
I got a 'tainted sub' on sunday last
I ate half of it sunday
and on monday morning I was in so much pain
and shytting MANY times within hrs.
I didnt eat anything from monday til thurs,
when I tried a bit of mac and cheese.
altho the marathon squirting is over, its still present.
this is not the first time I have stopped eating.
blood clot in leg, 6 days
blood clot in lung, 7 days
(until I finally went to hosp for the pain, and they kept me)
I managed to eat a few tbsp of mac and cheese at supper, fri.
I have been waiting 4 yrs for a certain trappers reunion event.
which is sat may 4, today
I will be going.
I just gotta locate the toilets first thing
if I feel the pain, I have 5 min to find a launch pad.
I pray for any folks sharing the same washroom as me.
I have used more TP in 5 days,
than I will in the next 4 months.
when these events happen, I load up on milk.
I am always thirsty, just no desire to eat.

Hobo is still my preferred term but what that describes isn't quite appropriate for what we see today, because it's an actual profession with skills and knowledge. Kind of the Woody Guthrie version of America's underbelly.
Bum is still the most universal and useful term. Of course it's too harsh for such delicate mentalities who had to create "homeless" terms to ease the white liberal guilt feelings.

Between rapidly rising inflation, skyrocketing rents, very low social security retirement payments, non-existant pensions, aged people’s chronic health problems in a health system that is crumbling before our eyes, the growing problem of aggressive social security “overpayment” clawbacks (investigate that one - you will be shocked)….
The age group where homelessness is rising most rapidly is the 55+ age group.
Including a shockingly high number of 66 + year old married couples who have worked all their lives…

(The 100% clawback is used to stop the benefit when there is no response from the beneficiary. There are rules for reporting change of address or death, etc.)
In a statement issued Wednesday, Social Security Commissioner Martin O'Malley said the agency will cease "the heavy-handed practice of intercepting 100% of an overpaid beneficiary's monthly Social Security benefit" if they failed to respond to a demand for repayment. Instead, he added, the agency will limit the clawback to 10% of an overpaid beneficiary's monthly benefit.
Additionally, the Social Security Administration will extend repayment plans to 60 months, up from its prior limit of 36 months, giving recipients an additional two years to repay the money.
Social Security clawed back overpayments by docking 100% of benefits. Now it's capping it at 10%.
The Social Security Administration said it's overhauling how it recovers benefits from people after an outcry over its policies.
