I was a little angry with what I thought was an abuse of the 911 system.

But, then I watched the video and it is obvious he is a little mentally disabled. By showing up and doing this, these cops may have prevented a suicide.

Really though, this is what good policing is about. Get that person to feel that they are important and not a forgotten cog in society...

Awwh.

Owner's daughter once sang happy birthday to me.

Owner doesn't know exactly when I was born or even how old I am. But the family has kind of settled on July 4 as a good day.

Well, Owner's daughter.

All horses deserve, at least once in it's life, to be loved by a little girl.

It's easy to forget about this sort of thing, with all the stories about shot dogs and forced cavity searches. Frankly, it's WHY those "good cops" that do this need to be the ones to STOP the ones who do the other stuff.

It looks like they knew him. I bet the cops needed to do this as much as he felt he needed it.
From the comments and video, I don't think so--they had to check his date of birth, and then decided to bring him birthday greetings and the gift of the cupcake & candles. But his smile of joy and reaching out to grab their hands to thank them--!

Cops do this kind of thing all the time. Cops are much more compassionate than they are given credit for. They buy food for the hungry, medicine for those in need, toys for needy children at Christmas, change tires on the side of the road etc etc. Those stories don’t make the news as it doesn’t fit the narrative.
Cops handle millions of calls for service without incident but who‘s remembered, the unusual and abhorrent

I kind of think the 911 operator needs some praise also - the cops obviously knew there was something wrong there and it was more "check on this guy" than a 911 call abuse .....

looks like a better part of Boston - where policing treads more lightly >> when there's a dozen guns pointed your way on a PD call - the cupcakes tend to be far & away

Yeah, it paints the “incorrect” picture. That was cool.

Thanks for posting. It's good to see the good. That young man is living on his own as well, there's a story behind him as well. God and goodness is still the prevalent norm, just not marketed that way.
