Drone operation seems like a chicken$hit way to fight. I fully understand the necessity of technological advances.
Wouldn't expect forces to stand up in rows&columns but there's something vile about this type killin' and maiming.
Just a thought exercise:
If I was commanding a force, I would make every effort to find out from whom and where the drones operate. A drone operator or manufacturer would never be safe. Nor would their family. Ever. Going forward in perpetuity.
Participating in this type operation should still involve "skin in the game". Just sayin'
Eta: I guess the same could be said about soldiers that plant landmines. Maybe the visceral reaction it creates for me is the voyeuristic nature of watching from afar.
It just ain't cool. No part of war is...
Agree 1000%. And they do the same with their human based attack force (Protesters and invasion forces that they direct from afar hiding places).
But here is the issue. The people that are REALLY behind all of this want to reduce the total population by 15/16ths or more. In the end, your drone ops may be AI and not human in the end. So the detail that needs attention is who is pushing it from the top down.
In the meantime, we need to develop three schools of thought:
1. Workable solutions to stop the immediate threat that can be made quickly out of everyday materials that we HAVE on hand NOW. I am thinking as complex as T-Shirt cannons with various "things" in as projectiles (nets, ropes...) to things as simple as a shotgun with larger birdshot loads.
2. We need to understand what the technology is that is being used against us. At a bare minimum, we need a way to detect it from afar. I am working on a few different drone signal detection systems that will be COTS and Open Source. In the meantime others have built simpler ones from Android platforms, such as: https ://apkcombo.com/drone-scanner/cz.dronetag.dronescanner/download/apk#how-to-install (note, it only will detect WiFi based drones). The trick is to be able to detect their presence LONG before the threat is close enough, which can be done by checking the ISM bands in the 900MHz and above ranges (Mainly the 2.4XGHz and 5.XGHz bands). The whole realm of 5th Gen Warfare is going to be high tech as they don't want to lose anyone on their side as fast as they want to remove people from our side. SIGINT, COMINT and the rest will be THE working modus of the day, so get studied up on all of that NOW. So the trick is to make their systems a LOT less efficient till we can traceback the signals and remove the links if we can't remove the source. HERF "devices", ISM directional RF bombardment systems and just the denial of signals and power will probably be the preferred route to take.
At a bare minimum on our end, each group needs to have at LEAST one "18Echo" on board, and that person needs to have at LEAST the basic equipment NOW and start playing with it while they can do that safely. I would suggest at a MINIMUM a scanner, a Shortwave Receiver with SSB capability, and most importantly, a good Spectrum Analyzer that can go up to at LEAST 6-9GHz, such as the TinySA Ultra. Yes, this stuff costs money and needs to be KNOWN how to use, but consider the cost of an undetected drone finding you or someone you care about...
In the end, THEY have to have power, and signals. Deny either and the threat is marginalized, deny both and your life gets much better, if not easier.
And before anyone asks, here is a glimpse of what an 18Echo does for a living: https ://www.goarmy.com/careers-and-jobs/career-match/signal-intelligence/locations-stats-frequencies/18e-special-forces-communications-sergeant.html
3. We need to realize that THEY are not going to stop as easily here in CONUS once they start doing this here, so we need to plan for the long haul. Get your Logistics and Supply Chains setup NOW, as well as make SURE that you have enough to act independently (and securely) for a while if those Supply Chains are broken. THEY know that they are up against dealing with millions of people over a wide area. They are hoping that many will just give up the fight, or turn on their fellow man for a single free meal. They figure that starvation and being cut off from "services and normal supplies" (Power, Food, Fuel, comms, and other things) will drive most into compliance (Head to the nearest 15 Minute City and be debriefed on all you know about your previous countrymen in your old area). Holding up in your farmhouse is probably not going to work for long. Especially if they want to "rewild" all of the areas between the cities. Have other plans to stay in the area and not be in (or need to have) those houses. Also start thinking of either drone deterrents, or anti-drone systems to keep them out of the area for as long as possible. I have played with both quads and fixed wing devices with things like hanging strands of fishing line from the trees or even suspended nets of that line hung up at angles. The drone's cameras don't easily see the fishing line as long as it is not in sunlight, so when it flies into it, it usually gets caught there.
We also need to study up on what warfare tech they are using BESIDES drones in the current fighting areas as that TOO will likely find it's way over here. I have been studying the "Leaflet Munitions" that both our military and a few others (mainly russian and chineese) have used, like:

en.wikipedia.org
en.wikipedia.org
Here are a few notes on them, and ways to counter them...:
Landmines are cheap, deadly, and highly-effective weapons that have played a key role in Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Russian forces have set thousands of land mines and booby traps across Ukraine, causing hundreds of military and civilian casualties.

I have been watching all sorts of Youtube vids on how "the public" is dealing with these threats. One person had "bolted" a 2 or 3 car tires on rims together on a rod with unmounted tires in between them that will "flop" around and absorb the blast if they roll over a mine. They use ropes to pull this contraption over an area a few times to detonate any live mines in that area quickly.
Study up as much as you can, and get others in your group to do this as well. We will have to be our own military and specialists as nobody is coming to our rescue. And keep in mind that while things like drones may be part of the threat, we have a BUNCH of biped threats in CONUS as well to keep an eye on, so plan for that as well. Detection will be the word of the day for years as a threat detected early and communicated to your group is a threat that they don't have to deal with at the last minute after being caught off guard...
