Journey by thatgamecompany. Produced 2012. (don't let that scare you away). I receive no monetary gain from promoting this.
So, I bought this game on Steam. I had no idea what a profoundly emotional game this is. It's easy to play on controller or keyboard (I prefer controller). Because of steam resurrecting this classic, tons of new players are playing and old players have returned to playing to help us.
There are several interpretations of this game via youtube videos. You are alone in a post apocalyptic world that reached new heights in technology and spirituality, became greedy, and destroyed itself. (only you're not alone, other players join in your quest. Some guiding, some seeking guidance). You can't speak, you chirp. Some folks get excited and chirp like crazy, some barely chirp. some circle you for you to follow them. I suggest you follow, if that's the case, as you will find new areas and tools (in the way of a scarf that helps you fly).
There is a mountain representing God whose light shines in the distance, beckoning you onward. You do a gigantic chirp near these ribbon things and set the spirits of, we'll just say birds, nature creatures that are bound to earth, free, guiding them to God. There is so much more, I dare not tell all. The artwork is amazing.
No spoilers, but I did watch a video after my first journey and it helped. The responses from those that play are very emotional. There are 2 Reddit forums and in the discussions forum in the game on steam there is a "shout" out section, where you can thank your companions or express your delight in the game. Right now its 374 pages long.
We're all going to die. To me, going on this journey was uplifting, very spiritual, very soul touching, with real people helping you, it's an awesome experience. I can't say that enough. I was gobsmacked after my first run through, and just sat and contemplated what just happened!!! Never had a game do that to me.
At the END of the credits rolling when you and your friends complete the journey, a screen will come up showing you the names of the companions that were with you on the JOURNEY. I've had up to 5 different companions through one journey.
I earned my white robe last night thanks to some stranger. You start off in a red robe.
