With all due respect to everyone, this is always a problem. Maybe the best idea is to post a new Alert thread, but then reference the big thread and repost it there.

With the UN Security Council vote, that now ties the hands of Israel quite a bit. As a now "recognized sovereign state" by the UN, Israel cannot attack and "Palestinian" territory (Gaza, West Bank) and gives legitimacy to Hamas as a governmental leader.

Seems vaguely evident this iteration of doom is lackluster and just as manipulated as the last.

People are seeing what they choose to see.

I'm no different, I see more theater.

Iran’s S-300 missile system, purchased from Russia years ago, isn’t a factor. From results in Syria, the S-400 isn’t much better. S-500 missiles are still ONLY in Russia. Iran has now seen down the barrel of Israel’s sidearm. It knows what’s at the end of that barrel, and is now rethinking it’s next move…

I'm guessing that the Russians are also looking at this strike and wondering how they'd do on the receiving end of a NATO strike if they push things.

In RUSSIAN tests, the S-500 appeared adequate, hence PR was OK. China has worked on their version, the C-500. Neither nation has either for export- yet. Both are in an ongoing cash crunch, vis-a-vis military R&D, Russia the more so. I would think they would be doubling down on tests and verification now, with WW III on the near horizon…

I'm really starting to hate that new word, "performative".

We have a fake president, fake genders, a fake economy, a fake pandemic with its very own fake cure, fake reality. And now, a fake war.

Not impressed with this theater of the absurd.

digging through various Brit news sites (Sky, BBC, Mail) all seem to describe Israeli attack mostly symbolic, very small scale. Israel can say they hit back, but with minimal damage, while Iran can claim it was no big deal, so no need for them to escalate. Gives them both an off-rant to stand down from the abyss. Could be a needed anti-climax climax.
