Our Sunday school teacher works for Duke energy in North Carolina.

He told us today something that when it happens on a large scale is going to be a catastrophe that we all here see coming.

A lot of areas had power outages last week with the rain and wind storm.

The linemen were just switched over to EV trucks.

Guess what?

Hardly no one could go restore electricity to the thousands of people who needed it, because they couldn’t charge their trucks

therefore, outages were extended for hours! Yeah, so smart. This is gonna be a real humdinger when it’s more than 1000 to 20,000 people waiting for power to come back on!

Chaos and apathy for consequences and the big picture.

So The Duke PTB thought their power came from some other source?

Or do they collectively harvest their own farts & belches to run methane powered generation systems for their EV Fleet?

Pretty sure my electricity utility has been bragging about electric trucks in the not too distant past.

The type of electric utility trucks people in the northeast need during a snow storm are ones that idle on diesel as long as it takes to get the job done.
Memphis announced an all EV Bus fleet w/ new state of the art garages to charge them up.

Of course they failed to address the grotesque inefficiency of the transit system at it's core but that's an entirely different issue right?

They've made huge strides to fight pollution!

Just ask them.

I think little Petey delivered the federal funds last time he was here - probably bags of small bills so sharing it out was easier.

From the Duke Energy website:

Electrifying our Fleet

To support Duke Energy’s initiative to reduce overall greenhouse gases and lower emissions from the transportation sector, we have over 600 electric vehicles in our fleet, including over 220 on-road vehicles. We are committed to increasing that number by purchasing electric vehicles that meet our needs as new vehicle styles and classes are released.

By 2030, we pledge to convert 100% of our nearly 4,000 light-duty vehicles to electric and 50% of our approximately 6,000 combined fleet of medium-duty, heavy-duty and off-road vehicles to EVs, plug-in hybrids or other zero-carbon alternatives as more of these options become available.
