Depending on the phone, it will only respond when you turn it one way, but not the other. And iPhones menu/tile screens don’t rotate at all. Only inside applications will you get that behavior, and then not with all apps.

I am not even sure how this is a legit question. Of course it needs to be the content. If it is about the user we don't need mods and it is going to get ugly for some posters :)

I say content only.

And I had no idea that there was/is "weight" to using those emojis. I didn't know it could count for it against someone. I just use them in relation to what I read and if I feel like it. Not a super fan of stuff like that.

Personally, I would -not- have a Dislike Emoji at all.
I agree. Too many people will take it personally and turn it into a pissing contest.

I only voted for content as the lesser of two evils. I would have voted none if it was available.

If these reactions don't apply to the content - are we going to be like those in congress during the state of the union address who refused to clap or react with any joy to statements that were positive toward what they said they were for?

I don't want any part of that. I can personally dislike some people yet still be impressed with information they have shared.

re Dislike, I say 'content only'/neutral as well.

Are there others? Such as 'Though Provoking', 'Shocking!', 'Questionable', 'Agree', 'Disagree', or the like? I'm inclined to think of agree/disagree as more useful for certain types of content than like/dislike.

I never thought the emogi thingies were for anything else other than reaction to content. Why would you want a reaction score attached to your name? We don't just post stuff we agree with or like all the time. Some stuff we post we are mad about or disagree with and we post it just to confirm our own reactions or get other peoples' input that might be contrary to ours. So, again why would you want a reaction score attached to peoples names when they were just trying to spark a conversation? If that were the case I would never use the angry or dislike emogis.

Exactly the same, with me.

I have been known to post an angry emoji on posts with commie/gun grabber agenda. I have NEVER posted a negative emoji simply because I don't like the poster. I am here for the information; not ruining someone's day with a little cartoon circle.

NoMoreLibs and his graphics don't upset me. I have seen far worse.

The old software had “reputation” capability, which actually affected a “reputation score.” Way back at least 15 years ago, I tried activating it. The reaction was so negative that I turned it off. So when people clamored for “likes”, all I could do was smile recalling the previous attempt.
Likes are different. To me they aren't votes for a person, they just mean "I agree" or "This is a must read" without making a whole post just to say it. It's all for content; "ignore" is for the poster.

Stolen from another source, but it pretty much crystallizes and clarifies the reason not to have this:

In case of a "dislike" button, people would think twice before sharing new content. There would be a recurrent assessment cycle on the part of the user before posting or sharing content. If the user's content is disliked, it is a subtle rejection of his/her idea or thought process. This would therefore discourage that user to post something in the future, and overall it would bring down user activity considerably.

Just like the pause/stop button drained people out of theaters, the "dislike" symbol will drastically reduce content from any site which decides to enable it.

I've used "like" mainly to show appreciation toward the person for posting the content or for making astute personal observations/commentary.

Strikes me as a blend of "liking" the content and the commentary.

It is ambiguous.

For example, with a post about the latest Pelosi comments.... my "like" would not refer strictly to content (I hate Pelosi and what she said) rather, it would point either to the importance of the content, or it could be an affirmation of the poster's observations/comments.

So, "dislike," at least for me, would indicate the content is not-important, or the person's observation/comments are way off.

While I often think these thoughts, I'm not sure I'd use the dislike emoji often. Usually I let that stuff pass right on by except on rare occasions when I feel something must be addressed, and then I'll quote the post and respond.

Hard to eliminate the ambiguity.

I used the dislike thing today for content that I disagreed with. Although there have been times I've disagreed with the
particular poster but not on a personal level. I wouldn't do that, we are each entitled to our opinion.

All the cats I've ever known have all people on "ignore".

Just out of curiosity, how do the different emojis affect "reaction score"?
Is there a 'point breakdown'?
Maybe I missed the memo, but I wasn't even aware of such things.....

I hadn't thought about that, in fact I didn't know that the dynamic existed. I might have to change my vote to "just don't have a dislike emoji".
