"2021 Will Be Catastrophic" - UN Warns Of Humanitarian Crisis As 270 Million People May Starve

Sun, 12/06/2020 - 07:35

While 2020 could be one for the record books, the UN is out with a new warning that a humanitarian catastrophe could be setting up for 2021.

World Food Programme (WFP) chief David Beasley sounded the alarm at a United Nations General Assembly meeting Friday about the reemergence of the virus pandemic and resulting humanitarian crisis, reported RT News.

Beasley said a humanitarian catastrophe is developing with some 270 million people on the pathway towards "starvation."
"2021 is literally going to be catastrophic, based on what we're seeing at this stage in the game ... because we've spent $19 trillion, that money may not, and will not most likely be available for 2021," he said.
He added, "We're now looking literally at 2021 being the worst humanitarian crisis year since the beginning of the United Nations, and we're going to have to step up."

Beasley said the virus pandemic and resulting government lockdowns are disrupting supply chains and the global economy - stating the "cure could be worse than the disease because of the economic ripple effect." He also said "man-made conflicts" were adding to the ongoing humanitarian challenges in the world, specifically mentioning Syria, Yemen, and South Sudan.
"We've got to end some of these wars. We've got to bring these wars to an end, so we can achieve the sustainable development goals that we so desire," he said, dubbing the conflicts, health crisis and looming famine as "icebergs in front of the Titanic."
Beasley was out with a similar warning in August. Back then, he requested billions of dollars in humanitarian aid to avert a "famine of biblical proportions" that would threaten most of the world.
The dramatic rise in the number of people who don't have the means to feed themselves because of depressionary unemployment, supply chain breakdowns, and crop failures have been some of the catalysts this year that could spark a global hunger crisis as early as next year.

Even in the US, a developed world economy, food insecurity is soaring as tens of millions are unemployed, broke, and now lining up at food banks during the holiday season.

In a separate food insecurity report from June, the UN secretary-general, Antonio Guterres, warned the world is on the brink of the worst food crisis ever witnessed in the post-World War II era.

Making matters worse, world food prices are rapidly rising, with the Food and Agriculture Organization index hitting the highest level since early 2015.

FAO said in a release that the "pandemic exacerbating and intensifying already fragile conditions caused by conflicts, pests, and weather shocks, including recent hurricanes in Central America and floods in Africa."

Besides soaring food prices, the global economy is slumping once more.

And if that wasn't enough, a natural weather phenomenon called La Nina, which we described in September, is disrupting the global agriculture industry, causing dry weather in some regions and heavy rainfall in others, lowering crop yields and driving up spot prices of food.

While central banks have printed trillions of dollars in bailing out financial markets - the one thing they cannot do is print food - the world is likely on the verge of a massive humanitarian crisis.

These people have been hungry or starving for forever. Yet nothing has changed for them. Honestly the only difference now is the fact industrialized nations are having food insecurity issues. These nations will take care of their own before taking care of the traditionally hungry nations.
I don't mean to sound callous; but we need to make sure our citizens are fed first before handing out food to nations that are always starving. Where is the food supplies we send them going? We have sent since 1945 billions of tons of food to nations all over the world, yet the same countries keep popping up as having a hunger/humanitarian crisis. Enough!

Send them supplies of Plumpy Nut and ORS, show them how to dig wells and let them to their own devices.

Sam Kennison.

Some would say that he lacked compassion, but his words were true. In his routine, he would say (in substance), If you really want to help these people, rent them a U-Haul and get them out of the desert. Nothing has ever grown there. Nothing ever will grow there. It's the DESERT.

from what ive been watching for a few months about the locust plagues in several places, droughts, floods loss of crops world wide---id say yup--this planet is gonna have food supply problems. look at china they are buying everything they can get their hands on, gobbling everything up. they know. im no fan of the UN but multiple sources have been reporting on food problems for quite a while. toss in a grand solar minimum that historically causes great crop damage, might be smart to get as many of those 20# bags of rice from walmart for $8.49 and stuff to put on it. and maybe a little extra to help someone else out.

I hear they’re looking to import a few tens of millions of turd world denizens to Europe...

Opsec? Nobody knows where I live. Even Dennis and a couple of others only have a PO Box.
Or were you referring to starvation sensitivity?

China Connection may be only too correct....right here in this country, we may very well be facing starvation....haven’t we been warned about food shortages and rationing as the reason for stocking up? We were told about all those meat packing plants being closed, dairy farmers having to pour milk out because they couldn’t get it to market, and ranchers and poultry farmers having to kill their cattle, pigs and birds, also unable to get them to market, plus other farmers having to plow their crops under, again for the same reason!

Then, there were so many unusual weather anomalies causing crop destruction, including hurricanes, that dorecho, and historic flooding that resulted in massive crop failures right in this country.
Aren’t we using up next year’s crop, prematurely?

To add to the catastrophe, shutting down countless jobs (thanks to “The Great Reset”) has put millions of Americans out of work. That unemployment money will soon be history, renters will soon be evicted next month, and how will all those millions of people survive? Can those of us on pensions and SS count on relying on it? We have been warned.

Does all the above spell out the possibility that there will be starvation right in our own country?
And, Biden, if he winds up as President, says he will allow millions more illegals into the country,
as well as raising taxes, enormously.

Maybe we should stop and realize this country, too, is facing starvation before too long.......was this part of “The Plan” ......seems like I read, somewhere, that it was!

If they hadn't killed the white farmers and stole their land they may have a lot more food next year.

Most countries are "under control".

The US is the outlier. They will find a way to get us...and several of the ways are real easy.

Many will be left without crap because they simply do not see it happening here.

Like I have been saying...canned food will be gold.

Millions will starve in the U.S. next year.

Remember if you have no money you starve.

Starvation in the US is a lot different then starvation in Africa. Many will go hungry here but true starvation is highly unlikely without some massive black swan like EMP or a nuke war. People will see a decline in variety and have to eat stuff they are unfamiliar with or don't like but real starvation is not going to happen in the US next year.

Opened the thread, scrolled down and hit the photo, and was like....Oh, who gives a shit. Africans and their begging bowls - and the rest of us are supposed to *fix* it. Actually, other civilizations HAVE made the desert green. Depends on the severity of the climate, and on the population. Helps to have IQ and a work ethic. When the climate got too severe even for irrigation and drought tolerant crops, the Anasazi DID pick up and leave...and did it all by themselves. Imagine that.

The humane thing to do is NOT to help. All they do is breed there, and then come over here. We will have food shortages here, and letting Africa swarm the West isn't going to help us. You can't fix stupid.

The “traditionally hungry nations” are all black. Every. Last. One. That’s because they’re too ignorant to drag their own societies out of the Stone Age. They depend on the white world for their survival. Too bad, so sad. I can’t make myself shed a single tear. Stop making babies. Problem solved.

Seems I've been hearing this for as long as I can remember...

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bCzp5onxfc

I am old enough that I remember the TV ads for CARE - wanting money to send food, seeds & tools overseas to help all the " starving people " As a kid, it was really sad, made you feel guilty because you had food. Later I learned it was all just BS. I still remember the TV ads.

This current BS is just propaganda !!!

No, you’re not callus. I’ve have said many times, these countries need to practice birth control. And stop looking at other countries to take care of them and their needs when they are not doing anything to help themselves.
