Just checking to see if anyone else grows yardlong beans,AKA: asparagus beans?
The first year my wife and i were married she was describing them to me and i finally found some seeds, man they are great. If you havent tried them yet you should. You pick them when they are about 18 in. long can use them like green beans but they taste more like asparagus.

We really enjoy them as well securitysix. We've been growing them for several years. I agree, they are a wonderful bean, great producers, good canner. Only problem I ran into was when they went up the 12 foot trellis DH had made and I couldn't reach them. I don't bother with any other green bean any more.

I've seen them on Asian gardening websites, but have never grown them.

They sound like a fun crop. If they are very prolific, they might be an excellent choice for my small garden.

I'll try them next year. Thanks for posting about them, securitysix.

Love them. They seem to set and make no matter HOW hot it gets. I just get DH to put up a section of cattle panel and grow them on that. If they get too tall they can just go horizontal or go back down. :)

I have grown them for about 5 years and have never had a failure with them here in north central Texas. No matter how hot the weather gets, they are prolific producers. At the end of the season, I even dry them and the dried beans are also great.

Not growing them this year as I did not have a garden because I am moving to another state next month.

Sorry i havent posted this yet.A great place to find asian seeds is www.newdimensionseed.com If anyone wants to check it out.
Ive had nothing but great service from them and love the way they package the seeds. The seeds should lat for a long time.

If I were you I would wait till near the end of the season. Grow out several beans and let them dry. That will give you all the seed you want for next years planting. They should do even better as they are adapted to your garden.
