Wolf Impeachment Talk Begins as Governor Doubles Down on Lockdown Threats
HANNAH BLEAU - 11 May 2020

Calls for the impeachment of Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D) are increasing after the governor doubled down on Monday, accusing Pennsylvanians who are moving to reopen outside of his orders of engaging in a “cowardly act” and issuing threats to businesses that fail to comply with his directives.

Wolf on Monday dismissed Pennsylvanians who remain under lockdown orders, which he recently extended to June 4, drawing further ire from critics.

Republican state House candidate Danny DeVito, who last month asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene and overrule the governor’s stay-at-home order closing nonessential businesses, formally demanded the impeachment of Wolf and Lieutenant Gov. John Fetterman (D).

“The Wolf Administration’s threats against Counties and small businesses today were an unacceptable declaration of war,” he said on Monday.

“I am calling on the General Assembly to impeach Wolf and Fetterman and I am calling on elected officials and candidates to join me in this declaration”:

Posted by Danny DeVito on Monday, May 11, 2020
Similarly, a Change.org petition demanding an impeachment investigation of Wolf took off, garnering over 46,000 signatures as of Monday afternoon. The petition requests an investigation “due to Governor Wolf’s violations of the Pennsylvania Constitution and the US Constitution.”

Per the petition:

Specifically Pennsylvania Constitution Article 1 Section 1 – inherent rights of mankind, Article 1 Section 3- religious freedoms, Article 1 Section 12 -power of suspending laws, Article 1 Section 26 – no discrimination by Commonwealth and its political subdivisions, Article 1 Section 25 – reservation of power in people. United States Constitution Bill of Rights Article 4 section 4, the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution, and the 21st Amendment of the United States Constitution.
Once we have enough signatures on this petition a letter will be drafted to send to the majority leader Speaker of the House Michael Turzai. Requesting a formal committee be convened on the investigation of Governor Thomas Wolf. Due to his unconstitutional acts during corvid 19 outbreak first quarter 2020.
State House Republicans also blasted the governor following his press conference.

“It is never wrong to lift the voices of concerned constituents,” they stated in part. “In fact, it is the duty of every elected official to do so. That is not cowardice; it is patriotism.”

Meanwhile, the state legislature is moving more legislation to charge ahead with reopening, despite the governor’s orders.

“My committee just approved legislation that would reopen manufacturing, real estate, barbershops & hair salons, animal groomers, lawn & garden centers, messenger & agent services and legal services,” State Sen. Tom Killion (R) announced Monday afternoon:

PA Gov. Wolf Only Allows 12 More Counties to Begin Reopening May 22
HANNAH BLEAU - 15 May 2020

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf (D) announced on Friday that 12 more counties will be allowed to begin reopening next week, May 22 — a move that still leaves 18 counties remaining under stringent lockdown orders until June 4.

Twelve counties — Adams, Beaver, Carbon, Columbia, Cumberland, Juniata, Mifflin, Perry, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Wayne, and York — are permitted to move into the next phase of reopening next Friday, Wolf announced on Friday.

“Through our social distancing efforts, we have not only reversed a trajectory of exponential new case growth – we have cut it in half,” the governor said in a statement.

“And some of the counties that will be shifting into the yellow phase next week eliminated concerns that we had just two weeks ago,” he said, urging residents to continue in their efforts so he can “continue to add counties to the list of those in the yellow phase.”

The next batch of counties reopening includes Beaver, the lone western county remaining in red, and Columbia, which sent a letter to the governor this week, informing him of its intention of proceeding with reopening.

Twenty-four counties — Bradford, Cameron, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Forest, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lycoming, McKean, Mercer, Montour, Northumberland, Potter, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga, Union, Venango, and Warren — moved to the yellow phase of reopening on May 8, and 13 others — Allegheny, Armstrong, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Fayette, Fulton, Greene, Indiana, Somerset, Washington and Westmoreland — joined them on Friday.

Noticeably absent from the list of counties permitted to reopen next week is Dauphin County, home of the state’s capital of Harrisburg.

Protesters flocked to the Capitol in protest of Wolf’s “draconian” orders on Friday, with one demonstrator referring to the governor as “Commie Tommy Tom Wolf.”

“I’m here protesting Commie Tommy Tom Wolf,” Catherine Callahan told Breitbart News:

“I mean he’s a communist, and everything he has demonstrated for us today just proves that he is a communist,” she said. “Threatening to take away licenses to open your business, your liquor licenses, etcetera. He is refusing to let people run their lives and feed their families.

“This is America. This is not Stalinist Russia,” she added. “But he is trying to turn Pennsylvania into his own makeshift Stalinist Russia, and we won’t stand for it.”

Pennsylvania State Lawmaker Calls for Impeachment of Gov. Tom Wolf
HANNAH BLEAU 16 May 2020

Pennsylvania State Rep. Daryl Metcalfe (R) of Butler County is slated to propose a resolution calling for the impeachment of Gov. Tom Wolf (D), contending that the governor has “violated a number of our God-given rights affirmed in the United States Constitution.”

Metcalfe sent a memo to colleagues on Friday, asking them to cosponsor his measure to impeach the governor over his administration’s response to the coronavirus in the Keystone State. In the memo, Metcalfe states that Wolf’s order “mandating the closure of physical locations of all businesses that he has deemed ‘non-life sustaining’ has violated our citizens’ rights in many devastating ways.”

“His order constitutes a taking of property from business owners without just compensation. The lack of due process and judicial review permitted under his order also violates the Constitution,” he said, adding that the stay-at-home order has violated Pennsylvanians’ rights to free speech and assembly.

The Butler County Republican also told colleagues that the Wolf administration has lacked transparency “as agencies under his control have stopped responding to requests for records and his office has refused to provide vital information” — a reference to the shadowy business waiver program allowing certain nonessential businesses to apply for exemptions to operate while the stay-at-home order remains in place. The Department of Community and Economic Development only granted waivers to 6,123 businesses, and the administration has yet to provide the criteria used to determine which businesses were granted waivers.

“His delays and obfuscation have been, and continue to be, entirely unacceptable,” Metcalfe said.

He continued:

His failure to adequately administer our unemployment compensation system has made it so that countless Pennsylvanians who have recently become unemployed due to his orders have been unable to collect the benefits they require to meet their basic needs.
His focus on restraining business is particularly disturbing, as the majority of deaths due to the pandemic have been residents of long-term care facilities. The governor should have focused his attention there, but he has entirely failed to implement a comprehensive state plan to protect our most vulnerable citizens who reside in nursing homes, which have had inadequate supplies of Personal Protective Equipment and testing kits throughout the outbreak.
As Gov. Wolf has violated so many of our fundamental rights as citizens of the Commonwealth, I will be introducing a resolution impeaching the governor and exhibiting Articles of Impeachment to the Senate. His actions plainly constitute the misbehavior in office required for his impeachment under the Pennsylvania Constitution.
The governor “must be held accountable for his actions that have harmed so many of our citizens and violated so many of our rights,” the state lawmaker added. “No individual or office is above the law.”

Rumblings of Wolf impeachment talk began bubbling up this week after the governor threatened counties and businesses that signaled they would move forward with reopening in violation of his orders.

Thirty Pennsylvania counties remain under Wolf’s stay-at-home order. On Friday, the governor announced that twelve more could move to the yellow phase next Friday, leaving 18 under the most restrictive red phase, which bars nonessential businesses from operating.

Watch Live: Demonstrators Flock to PA Capitol to Protest Governor’s ‘Draconian’ Lockdown Orders
HANNAH BLEAU 15 May 2020

Demonstrators are gathering in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on Friday to protest what many have described as Gov. Tom Wolf’s (D) “draconian” lockdown orders, preventing several counties from reopening their economies.

Wolf has come under fire this week after threatening counties and businesses that have weighed reopening without his permission. Thirteen counties, in addition to 24 last week, have been permitted to move into the yellow phase of reopening, which loosens restrictions, allowing for some nonessential businesses to operate at a limited capacity and people to meet in groups of up to 25. However, even under the yellow phase, restaurants and bars are limited to take out and delivery, and gyms and salons must remain closed.

(All photos, credit: Matthew Perdie / Breitbart News)

While Wolf is expected to announce the next batch of counties that can move forward from the red phase, several remain in the most restrictive stage, which only permits life-essential businesses to operate. Some counties have considered moving ahead without the governor’s permission — a move Wolf referred to as a “cowardly act.”

“I won’t sit back and watch residents who live in counties under Stay at Home orders get sick because local leaders cannot see the risks of #COVID19 and push to reopen prematurely,” Wolf said on social media this week, issuing a series of threats to counties and businesses that would dare defy his orders.

Counties that move forward without his permission “won’t be eligible for federal stimulus discretionary funds,” he said. Wolf also warned that businesses risk losing their health department certificate, liquor license, and certificate of occupancy if they violate his order.

Many frustrated Keystone State residents say enough is enough.

“There are always risks in life but unfortunately right now, a lot of people are dying,” ReOpen PA’s Matt Bellis stated, according to ABC27 “A lot of people are committing suicide. There’s depression. There’s loneliness.”

“There’s all kind of factors coming out of this lockdown that make it necessary for us to let to the Governor know that he has to work with the General Assembly again,” he continued

Bellis said they are “requesting people take in social distancing as much as possible” but added that it was difficult to do during the last protest due to circumstances beyond their control.

“Unfortunately, the last time we protested, Capitol Police kind of cornered us off into one area which made it impossible to practice that social distancing,” Bellis explained. “So, we’re trying to let everybody know to be as responsible and safe as possible.”

And Governor Prickster just made it a Class A Misdemeanor to speak out against the quarantine and/or operate any nonessential business in the state.

In other words, a year in jail for anyone who dares to stand up for their constitutional rights. He did this last night.

I think much of the protest movement stems from govt. not presenting the science behind the actions they have taken, and from what I can see this is because there isn't any science being used. After a couple months of this the general public has been increasingly coming to the conclusion that so many of the mandates just lack any kind of logic at all.

Rather than approach this from a disease transmission and risk methodology they have focused on products and services. There is no science that says blue jeans and tomato plants pose more risk to the purchasers than booze or Poptarts, yet in many jurisdictions govt mandates allow you to buy one but not the other. Science would instead focus on the manner in which goods and services are sold, not on the product itself. Social distancing, masks, cleaning protocols, HVAC systems etc can have a scientific basis in reducing disease transmission and risk without regard for the product involved, yet govt continues to focus more on the product and service than on the mechanisms of disease transmission and risk.

For example, in my State farmer's markets were just allowed to open yesterday. Most only operate in the summer/fall but our local one operates year round given they have an indoor space for use during the winter. Why therefore was it somehow deemed safe to buy food in a chain grocery store but not safe to buy food at the local farmer's markets? The State never offered an explanation. Bear in mind our terrain is such that our farms are small family operations with farmer's markets being a huge part of what keeps their farms going.

The grand opening of farmer's markets came with all of the new standard restrictions (spacing, masks etc) but also with restrictions that only food could be sold. Some of these farms might also be making wool products from their sheep or making soap using ingredients from their farms, but right now they can't sell those items. So you can buy soap made in China at the big chain grocery store but you can't buy soap made on local farms at the farmer's markets. Where is the science behind this? And they wonder why people are getting upset.

Exclusive–Donald Trump Jr.: Gov. Wolf Is Threatening Pennsylvanians to Cover for His Own Failings
by DONALD TRUMP JR. 14 May 2020

Since the opening phases of the pandemic, the media have tried to make heroes out of the Democratic governors who are presiding over the highest COVID-19 death tolls and coronavirus infection rates in the country. But they’re not heroes; they’re villains.

Undoubtedly, there are factors outside any policymaker’s control. Yet, despite implementing draconian stay-at-home orders intended to slow the spread of the coronavirus, Democrats govern eight of the 10 states with the highest infection and death rates per million residents. Unfortunately, these governors have been so fixated on depriving citizens of their most basic rights that they’ve made deadly mistakes.

The first reason is that the national media — committed to attacking my father even in times of national crisis — has lionized these governors and egged them on to ever more extreme action, casting them as anti-Trump heroes battling the White House to save their citizens’ lives. These governors have been more than happy to go along with that narrative, and have spent months blaming someone else, most often the President, for their own states’ woes.

Now, in addition to blaming Republicans and the White House, these governors have started to attack their own citizens and local officials — ordinary men and women who are desperate to start reopening their towns, their businesses, and their lives so they can avoid destitution for their families and ruin for their communities.

No politician more clearly exhibits this trend than Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf, who is desperately trying to exert authority over local leaders after numerous counties announced plans to proceed with reopening ahead of the governor’s timeline. Wolf, like Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, is trying to drastically restrict the range of allowable activities in his state. Whereas Whitmer sought to dictate the specific items shoppers could purchase at stores that remain open, Wolf banned vital activities that experts widely consider to be safe, including construction projects. Both governors are contending with mounting frustration from residents in rural areas who are only being hurt by strict lockdown measures designed for more densely-populated areas.

In a long, flailing Twitter rant, Wolf threatened to withhold federal aid money from counties that refuse to comply with his orders, issue citations and suspend liquor licenses if restaurants reopen, and revoke liability insurance from small businesses.

Why is Gov. Wolf demanding “consequences” for Pennsylvanians who just want to safely get on with their lives and provide for their families? He’s trying to frame this as a brave stand on behalf of public health, stopping rogue counties from getting ahead of the reopening plan. A far more plausible explanation is that his bluster is a cowardly attempt to distract attention from his own awful decision making that turned his state’s nursing homes into death pits.

A staggering 68 percent of Pennsylvania COVID-19 deaths have occurred in nursing homes. That shocking statistic bears repeating. More than two out of three coronavirus deaths in the Keystone State had absolutely nothing to do with social distancing, business closures, travel restrictions, wearing masks, or any of the other measures “heroic” governors have demanded. Those have a single, common cause: the rapid spread of the virus among the elderly and other vulnerable populations in nursing homes.

Gov. Wolf’s administration failed to implement a plan to protect nursing home residents that his own experts developed, but the ineptitude goes much deeper. Wolf also — in defiance of all sound science and basic common sense — ordered nursing homes to admit patients who had already tested positive for the virus, putting them in close contact with the very people most at risk of experiencing serious complications and death from COVID-19.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, another Democrat who likes to lecture citizens about the importance of following his orders, is embroiled in a similar scandal.

The results have been predictably tragic. More than 2,000 Pennsylvania seniors have died in nursing homes, many of them due to exposure to infected people who would otherwise have interacted with healthy people who had much lower risks of dying.

Now, Wolf is desperate to put the blame on someone else. His administration is refusing to release detailed information on individual nursing homes even as neighboring states do so. Instead of promoting transparency, Wolf is demanding blind obedience to his edicts and smearing anyone who questions his orders as an enemy of science.

Notably, coronavirus deaths in the counties seeking to reopen are even more concentrated in nursing homes thanks to the disaster Wolf created than in more densely-populated counties elsewhere in the state. Beaver County, which was among the first to defy Wolf, only has infection numbers that suggest the need to stay shut down because of a massive nursing home outbreak.

Wolf is struggling to keep Beaver County residents shut in not because there is a general outbreak that such measures could help contain, but because it is politically advantageous for him to pretend that this is the case, rather than acknowledging his own deadly blunder.

If Tom Wolf thinks he makes himself look less incompetent by stomping on the rights of individuals and businesses, he’s got another thing coming. The same goes for any other “hero governor” who inflicts misery on their own citizens in an effort to burnish their reputation.

The Shutdown May Soon Collapse In Pennsylvania Thanks To Local Resistance

Authored by Zachary Yost via The Mises Institute,
As in the rest of the country, life in Pennsylvania has been greatly disturbed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the chaos that has resulted from the state government’s attempts to handle the situation.
On March 16, Governor Wolf ordered that all “nonessential” businesses be closed for at least two weeks. They are still closed today, and as a result, 1.8 million Pennsylvanians have filed for unemployment. At the end of December of last year, the state estimated that there were roughly 6 million employed persons in Pennsylvania. If we set aside all the workers whose incomes have been reduced through pay cuts or reduced hours, or who for various reasons have not filed for unemployment, still nearly a third of people who were working in December are now out of work.

Such an astounding figure is truly hard to comprehend, and its consequences likely haven’t been fully understood. It is therefore very understandable that Pennsylvanians around the commonwealth are eager to return to work and salvage the situation as much as possible before we are all left destitute. However, Governor Wolf, having assumed emergency powers, seems loathe to let that happen on anything other than his administration’s opaque and poorly understood timetable. Under the current plan, all counties are currently categorized as either red, yellow, or green, with red counties having the strictest restrictions and green ones allowing all businesses to reopen. By May 15, thirty-seven of Pennsylvania’s sixty-seven counties will officially become yellow zones. These counties will include nearly all of western and north-central Pennsylvania.
From the beginning, the entire shutdown process has been wracked with confusion over which businesses are essential and which ones need to apply for waivers to keep running. The waiver process has not been very transparent, and it is little wonder that the granting of a waiver to Wolf Home Products, the furniture manufacturer formerly owned by the governor, caused an uproar. As of May 10, the state had only processed 70 percent of the unemployment claims it had received.
There is not only confusion regarding the economic shutdown rules, but also over the public health approach as more and more data becomes available. On May 6, it was revealed to lawmakers during a phone briefing that of the roughly 3,100 virus deaths by that date, 68 percent had occurred in nursing homes and similar care facilities, that the average age of those who had passed was 79 (in a state where the average life expectancy is 78.5 years), and that 84.4 percent of the victims suffered from one to four comorbidities.
These shocking figures are even more tragic in light of the fact that the state’s aggressive plan for protecting nursing homes was never fully implemented. The state government’s incompetence is even more egregious considering the fact that the state health department issued a memo on March 18 stating that "Nursing care facilities must continue to accept new admissions and receive readmissions for current residents who have been discharged from the hospital who are stable….This may include stable patients who have had the COVID-19 virus."
Although the administration apparently lacked the ability to enact their own plan for protecting nursing homes, Wolf did have the time to make sure to include radical progressive demands in his state recovery plan, such as an increase of the minimum wage to $12 which would be set to grow to $15 and an expansion of mandatory paid leave policies.

With such chaos, confusion, and incompetence in the background, it is little wonder that there is a growing sense of rebellion among both the inhabitants and local government officials throughout the state.

All of southwestern Pennsylvania was declared free to move from red- to yellow-level restrictions on May 15 except for Beaver County. This exception, the county government believes, is largely due to the county’s stats being skewed due to a particularly lethal outbreak at a nursing home in the county that killed at least seventy-one residents. As a result, they declared that as far the county government and law enforcement were concerned the county would be moving to yellow-level restrictions along with all of its neighbors on May 15. Local officials also pointed out that many residents who work in the surrounding counties will be free to travel in and out of Beaver to work, defeating the entire purpose of keeping the county locked down. This is not an insignificant number of people given that Beaver is part of the greater Pittsburgh area. What’s more, the district attorney announced that his office would not be prosecuting any violations of the shutdown orders and had advised all local police departments to not get involved in state enforcement orders.

This defiance was echoed by two other counties in the central part of the state, including Dauphin County, where the state capital of Harrisburg is located, whose officials released statements effectively saying that they would no longer participate in the enforcement of the red-level shutdown orders. The county sheriffs of two additional central counties also released statements saying that their offices would not participate in any enforcement activities. A few days later, these counties have been joined by an additional eight counties that are variously demanding that the state let them move on to the yellow phase or simply declaring that they are planning to do so. With nearly a third of the state now out of work, such rebellion is not surprising in the least.

Of course, Governor Wolf did not take such defiance lightly and unleashed a torrent of threats and abuse on the recalcitrant offenders, declaring that they had "decided to surrender to the enemy" and that they were "choosing to desert in the face of the enemy, in the middle of a war." He then threatened to withhold any discretionary federal funds from any counties that rebelled, and then went even further, warning businesses that he would unleash the regulatory goons on them to make them bend the knee. Restaurants' liquor licenses would be suspended, any business that reopened in defiance would no longer have business liability insurance, and they could risk losing certificates of occupancy and health certificates.

However, having already pushed thousands of businesses to the brink of extinction, it seems unlikely that Wolf’s threats have much persuasive power. The state simply doesn’t have the resources to hunt down every rebellious business owner, so at the worst, an owner is taking a gamble between going out of business for sure if the shutdown continues and facing regulatory headaches in the event that the state authorities actually manage to find out about it. Although the state department of health has set up a complaint form for people to inform on businesses, even state lawmakers have likened it to the East German secret police, and the form has reportedly been inundated with online trolls submitting bogus reports.

The situation in Pennsylvania is continuing to evolve, but it seems clear that Governor Wolf’s authority is collapsing by the day. The whole affair serves as an important reminder of the lesson at the heart of Etienne de la Boetie’s short book The Politics of Obedience: The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude: all political authority in rulers is, in the end, derived from the ruled. When such power is withdrawn, political authority is revealed to be impotent.

The governor may issue all the orders he desires, but without the cooperation of the lower levels of government and the people themselves, they are toothless. In the unlikely event that he desired to escalate the situation to enforce his emergency decrees, he would lack the resources to realistically do so, having only forty-seven hundred state police under his control who could not hope to replace the local police across the nearly forty-five thousand square miles that make up the state. Even if he tried, local district attorneys have already indicated that they will not prosecute such cases.

Pennsylvania has no shortage of problems and onerous laws and regulations, but we are very fortunate that our governance structure is decentralized to the extent that it is. With the third-highest number of local governments in the country, Pennsylvania is ideally suited for the kind of recalcitrance that is currently materializing against the centralized emergency decrees from the state government. Hopefully such resistance will lead not to chaos, but to more realistic policymaking that recognizes that disemploying a third of the workforce by decree is not a sustainable solution to the COVID-19 pandemic.

DOJ: Democrats Paid Pennsylvania Election Officials to Stuff Ballot Box
by JOHN BINDER 21 May 2020

A former Judge of Elections in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has been charged and pleaded guilty to illegally adding votes for Democrat candidates in judicial races in 2014, 2015, and 2016.

On Thursday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced charges against former Judge of Elections Domenick DeMuro, 73, for stuffing the ballot box for Democrats in exchange for payment by a paid political consultant.

The charges, and guilty plea, include conspiracy to deprive Philadelphia voters of their civil rights by fraudulently stuffing the ballot boxes for specific Democrat candidates in the 2014, 2015, and 2016 primary elections and a violation of the Travel Act.

“The Trump administration’s prosecution of election fraud stands in stark contrast to the total failure of the Obama Justice Department to enforce these laws,” Public Interest Legal Foundation President Christian Adams said in a statement. “Right now, other federal prosecutors are aware of cases of double voting in federal elections as well as noncitizen voting. Attorney General William Barr should prompt those other offices to do their duty and prosecute known election crimes.”

As Judge of Elections, DeMuro was paid to oversee the election process in the 39th Ward, which encompasses Philadelphia.

DeMuro’s guilty plea states that he was paid by a political consultant to illegally add votes for particular Democrat candidates in primary judicial races. The political consultant who allegedly paid DeMuro had been hired by those Democrat candidates.

According to the indictment, the political consultant allegedly solicited payments from Democrat candidates who hired him, classifying them as “consulting fees.” The payments — which ranged from $300 to $5,000 — were then allegedly used to pay Election Board Officials, such as DeMuro, in exchange for those officials illegally adding votes for the consultants’ Democrat candidates.

DeMuro admitted that he illegally added votes for Democrats on Election Day and then certified later that the votes counted were accurate.

“DeMuro fraudulently stuffed the ballot box by literally standing in a voting booth and voting over and over, as fast as he could, while he thought the coast was clear,” U.S. Attorney William McSwain said in a statement. “This is utterly reprehensible conduct. The charges announced today do not erase what he did, but they do ensure that he is held to account for those actions.”

The criminal complaint has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The case number is 2:20-cr-00112-PD.

Pennsylvania congressional Democrats remain silent on Gov. Tom Wolf’s (D) decision to put coronavirus-infected patients in nursing homes, while Pennsylvania Republicans chastised the governor for endangering the state’s elderly in exclusive statements to Breitbart News.

Wolf, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) have all received intense backlash for forcing nursing homes to accept coronavirus-infected patients.

At least partly due to the order, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania have three of the four highest deaths in long-term care facilities, or nursing homes.

Breitbart News’s Michael Patrick Leahy noted that more than two-thirds of the 4,505 who died of the coronavirus pandemic in the state were residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities.

Pennsylvania Health Secretary Rachel Levine, the nation’s highest-ranking state transgender health official, came under fire for removing his own 95-year-old mother from a nursing home in Pennsylvania while supporting the governor’s decision to require nursing homes to admit those who tested positive for the disease
.
Wolf came under such controversy that he said on Monday that he would be open to a federal investigation into this administration’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak in nursing homes.

Breitbart News wrote about how New York and New Jersey congressional Democrats have remained silent on their governors’ decision to mandate that long-term care facilities host coronavirus patients.

Breitbart News sent comment requests to Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation, House and Senate, and Democrats have ignored the request for comment.

The Pennsylvania Democrats that ignored the comment request include:
  • Bob Casey
  • Brendan Boyle
  • Dwight Evans
  • Madeleine Dean
  • Mary Scanlon
  • Chrissy Houlahan
  • Susan Wild
  • Matt Cartwright
  • Conor Lamb
  • Mike Doyle
Several Pennsylvania Republicans chided Wolf for endangering some of the state’s most vulnerable citizens.

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) told Breitbart News, “It is clear that aggressive measures should have been taken in Pennsylvania to protect nursing home residents and prevent outbreaks in long-term care facilities, particularly in those the PA Department of Health knew were ill-equipped to control the spread of the virus.”

Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) called for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to investigate the governor’s handling of the coronavirus last week.

Perry wrote in an op-ed last week:

When the Congressional Delegation and the leadership of the State Legislature inquired to Gov. Wolf about the inordinate amount of COVID-19 fatalities in elder care, assisted living and nursing facilities, we received a familiar response: silence. Nearly 70% of all COVID-19 deaths in Pennsylvania have occurred in nursing and long-term care facilities. Governor Wolf has failed to protect our most vulnerable populations, and he’s shown little desire to modify his decisions that continue to have devastating effects on our most at-risk population.

The Pennsylvania Republican delegation slammed Wolf for failing to protect the elderly Pennsylvanians and chastised Levine for pulling a family member out of the nursing home while preventing small businesses from operating.

Rep. Fred Keller (R-PA) told Breitbart News, “From failing to protect older Pennsylvanians from the spread of COVID-19 in nursing homes while allowing a top cabinet official to pull a family member out of a similar facility, to refusing to allow small businesses to safely resume work despite the fact that we’ve successfully flattened the curve, Gov. Wolf’s coronavirus response has been nothing short of an unmitigated mess. It is clear that the governor lacks a coherent plan to deal with this pandemic, and the public health and economic impacts have been devastating as a result.”

Rep. John Joyce (R-PA) told Breitbart News, “Since the onset of the coronavirus crisis, I have called on Gov. Wolf to be transparent and forthcoming with the people of Pennsylvania. It is deeply concerning that the Wolf administration continues to move the goal posts as we seek to recover from the health and economic ramifications of this outbreak. We should be focused on protecting the lives and livelihoods of Pennsylvanians – including our seniors and residents of long-term care facilities. As I have said before, the Wolf administration must consider the comprehensive health needs of our communities and take action to serve Pennsylvanians across the Commonwealth.”

Other conservative lawmakers have noted that Wolf’s administration has especially harmed elderly Pennsylvanians, noting that nursing home deaths account for roughly 70 percent of total coronavirus deaths.

“Secretary Levine’s decision to place COVID-19 positive patients back into nursing homes was misguided and dangerous. Elected officials managing this crisis must rely on the data to make informed decisions. Seniors are particularly vulnerable to this disease and should be treated with the utmost caution,” Rep. Dan Meuser (R-PA) said in a statement to Breitbart News. “Secretary Levine’s intent may have been to protect hospital capacity, but placing seniors with COVID-19 back into nursing homes where they could expose other high-risk individuals was short-sighted. As a result, these facilities have accounted for nearly 70 percent of fatalities across the Commonwealth.”

“COVID-19 patients should never have been readmitted to long-term care facilities where the congregate settings and at-risk populations were needlessly endangered,” Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-PA) told Breitbart News. “Congressman Smucker has stated that Gov. Tom Wolf has failed the people of Pennsylvania in his administration’s handling of nursing home issues. The public has since learned that the state Department of Health abandoned early intervention plans for nursing homes while simultaneously requiring them to admit patients who tested positive for COVID-19, allowing it to spread quickly in our most vulnerable communities.”

Smucker said that he is “thankful that President Trump’s administration has been so supportive of the Commonwealth’s nursing home and long-term care facilities, by providing direct personal protective equipment shipments and dispatching teams of experts from the CDC to provide assistance to these hotspots.”
One conservative said that Wolf and Levine have acted as “petty tyrants” while harming Pennsylvania small businesses and the state’s senior citizens.

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) told Breitbart News, “Gov. Wolf, along with unelected bureaucrats in the Pennsylvania Department of Health, acted like petty tyrants by prioritizing shutting down small businesses rather than focusing on protecting our most vulnerable senior citizens. By forcing nursing homes to accept COVID-19 patients, Gov. Wolf put thousands of seniors in harm’s way, with nearly 70 percent of COVID-19 deaths in the state coming from these facilities. Gov. Wolf’s one-size-fits-all approach to fighting this pandemic has upended our economy and rendered one in four workers jobless, all while putting our seniors in care homes at greater risk.”

More counties are going green Friday.

I think Governor Wolf finally got it through his pointy little head he was not going to make Biden's shortlist for VP candidates. Not for a New York second do I believe this has anything to do with the status of CV-19 in PA.

They may be going green but I exchanged info from siblings in NOVA. Their stage 2 is actually more lenient than our green. I am headed north today. They have been Green for awhile and there are restaurants that are still not open.

I’m curious as to why his polling place votes
Can’t be voided out. And have a another vote
All the votes cast in that site should be null and void. And if he did it, how many others did it.
