My work computer use to be able to connect to the internet at home. It now shows the router is connected yet does not allow me to connect to the internet.

Can someone school this old gal how to fix this?

The tech at work had to "fix" the lost ip address for me to connect at work today.

In the past I have gone to the control panel, clicked on the red x where it shows no internet connection, the computer did its thing and behold a connection.

Frustrated beyond belief as I had planned on getting a lot of work done over this weekend and need the net to do so.

Thank you,

Sis

Have you tried rebooting the router? You also might check for a firmware update on it (thru the administration section of the router web page, which would be the same as your gateway address)

Please post this to the main board, or the tech forum. You'll get more replies. Sorry I can't help... I end up having to use trial and error most of the time.

The other day I woke up to no 'net. No matter what I did, it would not connect. Tech support was stumped... we ended up having to reset my password, as it had somehow gotten corrupted. No clue.

Assuming you have a cable or satellite modem? Do this. Power down your modem, the router and the computer. Boot up the modem first and wait until all the lights come on except for the LAN light. Then fire up your router and wait until all the lights come on and then once that happens start your desktop computer up. When you reset your modem you refreshen your external I.P. address. Then when you restart your router it takes that external I.P. address and makes it available on your own internal network once your computer start back up. This 'usually' fixes the problem.
