FARM wildlife encounter today

so I,m sitting at the computer and something crashes into the window in front of my face

i see a mass of feathers and hear a herd of crows making a rukus

i have had partridge hit the window

and I go outside and pick them up and put them some place open but secluded

while they regain their wits about them

I goes outside and a massive hawk of some kind is laying there

I pict him up and he was still alive but VERY dazed

I took him over to my open woodshed to let him come too without the crows

when I pict him up I didnt want him flapping his wings so I placed my hands around his body

BAD thing to do

his massive claws tore up my fingers

they were curved about an inch long

I didnt drop him or let go

I just took him over to the shed and set him down

I went back inside and kept looking out the window at him

eventually I thot I,d give him some meat

when I went out he spied me and took off

looks like he was just dazed

Earlier this Spring some predatory bird must have thought he spied an easy meal in my hen house. At egg collection time I went out to discover that the first sheet of safety glass on the Southern wall to the coup was shattered about seven feet up from the ground. Despite the impact, the inside sheet was undamaged so I suspect his pain wasn't worth the gain.
I built the hen house with a wall composed of three sliding glass doors procured from Craig's list.
All I could think about was that Windex commercial with the black birds...

he wasnt too rowdy

I,m guessing that was cuz he was dazed

I knew enuf to not hold him against my body
