He is silencing the press with intimidation.

Megan Kelly asking why he hates women is "press"? And he did not silence her.

And Jorge Ramos shouting and shouting without being called on or even asking a question is "press"? Trump silenced him and then had him come back in later and gave him a chance to say/ask his question.

You're so stretching the truth that it's like silly putty.

It is pretty widely known that Trump has been a liberal and I would venture to say a progressive for decades. Whether his conservative conversion is legit or not, I can't say. But I suspect he has reinvented himself to appeal to the masses and in that regard he has done a fine job...again just like Obama.

Did you even bother to read what I just posted above? Or he's been lying about immigration for 16 solid years, over and over?

He has even admitted that his donations are to gain favors later. So what does motivate the man?

He said that's the way the system works (and it is), and it's a rotten system, and he doesn't like it. And that is why he refuses to take big donations from people who want something in return.

Trump did his homework and found out what us pee ons wanted to hear and we are flocking to him like lemmings going to the cliff. He is using every single talking point that will suck us in. Getting the presidency is very important to him. And I think he wants the presidency because he sees it as a stepping stone to a more powerful position.

He must have been secretly planning and plotting for a long time, constantly faking it and waiting until he was 69 to spring the trap! Someone posted an interview he did on Oprah in 1988 and he had many "conservative" views then. He became pro-life in 2000. So he's been deceiving people by pretending for years and years! Even decades! What a master trickster he is. He wrote a whole book of tricksterism and lies published in 2011 even!

I think a lot of people just don't like macho warrior type men. I'm married to one so I know their characteristics. ETA: I've seen people take an instant dislike to DH because of his warrior type personality. Funny thing is, he would never hurt even an insect, he carries them outside in a plastic container to "repatriate" them. Often the macho type men have very soft hearts, you just don't see it being worn on their sleeve.

I have no idea where to post this. Decided to post here because it's on the negative side.

Catherine Austin Fitts was on C2C August 5, 2015. At the 20 min mark she talks about Trump. She said if you see his finincial sheets its clear to me that the banks have a tight leash on the Donald. His net worth depends on the graces of the bankers and he has many. He is Mr Global. He's job is to get the people interested again. He is the teaser pony for the 2016 election.

I don't know much on Catherine Austin Fits nor her political persuasion.

I don't understand the meaning there. Are you saying that CAF says Trump is being used by global bankers or something? If that's what she means, nothing could be farther from the truth.

Umm. For the last several years, can't remember exact number, at least 2 election cycles, he has donation $$$ to R candidates and speechified and appear on their behalf at events. Maybe before that as well. Unless, of course, every single thing that comes out of his mouth or typed words is a lie...

To the extent that has actually occurred, he's merely doing what all other similarly situated businessmen do: greasing the palms on both sides of the aisle so that he's assured of having a friend in office when he needs one. He said as much in the first debate. That's not involvement with a political party; it's influence peddling, and it's entirely self-serving, as he has already admitted.

As to any speeches he may have made on behalf of any GOP candidates, the only one I can think of would be Rudy Giuliani, and that gesture would also have been mostly (but maybe not completely) self-serving. I'll conclude that his involvement with the GOP is minimal at best. I'll admit that there may have been other candidates he may have stumped for that I don't know about, but I would be surprised if there were many others, if any at all.

Everything he has said since he ran for election about taxes would please anyone except those who want no taxes at all. The progressive rate for the wealthiest, while I can't remember the %, was less than half of what it is now. He said repeatedly he wants to ultra simplify and bring it down, has also mentioned flat tax, but prefers ultra low taxes for the middle class.

1. Once again, he's a fairly recent convert to this line of thinking, as your phrasing above indicates.
2. To the extent he has offered something you might call a tax reform proposal, it's pretty sketchy...with little in the way of specifics.
3. If he thinks that he can finance the government by taxing only the rich, while levying only "ultra low taxes" on the middle class, then he's not, as he claims, "very, very smart." He is, in fact, due for the rudest of awakenings.

Did a short search, found summaries of his positions on immigration from his 2011 book, and quotes from On the Issues (a non-partisan site covering all candidates on many issues), quotes go back to 1999 and up...

So he may have made some offhand statements about illegal immigration in 1999, when he was 53 years old, after decades of benefiting, either directly or otherwise, from the use of illegal alien labor. No action, of course, just talk. Not very impressive, if you ask me.

I will give The Donald this: He can call a Fox anchorette a "bimbo" via Twitter like nobody else. And I did like the way he called in the goons on Jorge Ramos. That was refreshing. Maybe not presidential, but refreshing.

1. Once again, he's a fairly recent convert to this line of thinking, as your phrasing above indicates.

Just because there aren't more recent quotes than 15 years does not prove your point. You want to prove your point? Come up with more recent commieprog quotes. So far, you've come up with nothing except your own opinion. Oh, my "phrasing" proves Trump's positions in some way? Clutching at straws! I'm embarrassed for you!

You're pretending to say that the bolded part was something I said supporting his involvement with R candidates? Shameful devbating methods! Yes, self serving, as every other big businessman does, as you noted; AND the politicians thrive on it! They all not only take big donations, but beg for them! Oh....except Trump won't even accept big donations....

Why don't you do some research and find other R politicians he's donated to and supported? Too lazy?

2. To the extent he has offered something you might call a tax reform proposal, it's pretty sketchy...with little in the way of specifics.

Unlike the VERY specific Immigration proposal - you want all of his plans in a white paper with footnotes more than a year before the election, eh? .He's talked about tax stuff several times. Several times more than any of the other candidates, that I have heard. I suppose you scorn him for not having his cabinet picked out already too.

3. If he thinks that he can finance the government by taxing only the rich, while levying only "ultra low taxes" on the middle class, then he's not, as he claims, "very, very smart." He is, in fact, due for the rudest of awakenings.

You're twisting what I said. Why don't YOU find out exactly what he said? Reagan lowered taxes and the revenue increased. Ever heard of that? Trump also plans tariffs. That's $$$, in fact one of the ways the founders of the country planned on raising revenue to fund gov. Oh, that reminds me - Trump wants to way reduce gov - he's already mentioned reducing the IRS, EPA, Dept of Education - that's just off the top of my head. So taxes is only part of the equation, spending less is the other part.

So he may have made some offhand statements about illegal immigration in 1999, when he was 53 years old, after decades of benefiting, either directly or otherwise, from the use of illegal alien labor. No action, of course, just talk. Not very impressive, if you ask me.

How was he supposed to "take action" against immigration as a private citizen, pray tell? Those were not "off-hand" statements, they were in speeches and books. Aren't you ashamed of yourself? You said above that he "all of a sudden" started sounding conservative (for instance, about immigration) in June 2015. I proved you wrong. Now, those statements from years ago are just "off hand".

I'd be too ashamed to use such slimey dirty debate tactics. I wouldn't be able to look in the mirror!

Oh heck yeah: Trump says a lot of things that I agree with.

I personally am not voting (in answer to not deciding to vote), as I am thoroughly convinced that the elite have their candidate groomed, and who they want in will be in like Flynn.

I am very distraught at all of the corruption, and firmly believe that O is their guy, just like Bill Clinton was the puppet for a while, and the Bush fam, etc.

I firmly believe that the elections are rigged, and of course, am still wondering if there will even be an election for prez in 2016...time will tell.

They control the media, the global wealth, and morality ideas, big time. They have great knowledge of human nature and use it to their advantage.

OUTLAW TELEPROMPTERS!!! LOLOLOL

Since you refuse to read the site Trump on the Issues, I'll copy what his position on taxes has been over the years. He has changed his position on the one time tax on wealth, important to note.

4 brackets; 1-5-10-15%; kill death tax & corporate tax

My 5-part tax plan involves reforming the income tax. The government confiscates way too much of your paycheck. The tax code is also a very complicated system that forces Americans to waste 6.1 billion hours a year trying to figure it out.

What does that tell you? It tells me that it's time we restore simplicity & sanity to the income tax. Here's my income tax plan:

  • Up to $30,000, you pay 1%
  • From $30,000 to $100,000, you pay 5%
  • From $100,000 to $1 million, you pay 10%
  • On $1 million or above, you pay 15%

It's clear and fair. Best of all, it can be filled out on the back of a postcard and will save Americans big bucks on accountants and massive amounts of time wasted attempting to decipher the tax code.

Our country is hungry for real tax reform. That's why we should implement the 1-5-10-15 income tax plan. And we need to enact [the rest of] my 5-part tax policy: kill the death tax; lower the tax on capital gains & dividends; eliminate corporate taxes; and a 20% import tax.

Cutting tax rates incentivizes a strong national work ethic

No doubt you work hard for your money--I know I do--and you should be permitted to keep more of it. Anything less creates a disincentive for a strong national work ethic. President Ronald Reagan saw it the same way: "The more government takes in taxes, the less incentive people have to work."

As with most things, President Reagan had it right, But Reagan was merely echoing the economic thoughts of President John F. Kennedy, who had already said, in 1962, "The paradoxical truth is that the tax rates are too high today and tax revenues are too low and the soundest way to raise revenues in the long run is to cut rates now."

Reagan and Kennedy's views prove that smart tax policy shouldn't be a partisan issue. It should be common sense. If you tax something you get less of it. It's as simple as that. The more you tax work, the less people are willing to work. The more you tax investments, the fewer investments you'll get. This isn't rocket science.

Previously supported wealth tax; now supports Bush tax cuts

During last year's debate over the tax cuts, Trump was outspoken in his opposition to President Barack Obama's effort to deny an extension to the Bush-era tax cuts for people earning more than $200,000 a year. "He's taking away a lot of incentives from a lot of people that produce a lot of taxes," Trump told Fox News, explaining that Obama's proposal would drive the wealthy out of the country. "It creates the wrong image. You really have to keep the taxes down."

Ten years earlier, when Trump was also floating a run for the White House, he was singing a different tune. The first proposal unveiled by his exploratory presidential campaign in 2000 was to impose a one-time 14.25% tax on the assets of people and trusts worth $10 million or more.

Repeal the inheritance tax to offset one-time wealth tax

I would impose a one-time, 14.25% tax on individuals and trusts with a net worth over $10 million. For individuals, net worth would be calculated minus the value of their principal residence. That would raise $5.7 trillion in new revenue, which we would use to pay off the entire national debt [and shore up the Social Security Trust Fund].

My proposal would also allow us to entirely repeal the 55% federal inheritance tax. The inheritance tax is a particularly lousy tax because it can often be a double tax. If you put the money into trust for your children, you pay the inheritance tax upon your death. When the trust matures and your children go to use it, they’re taxed again. It’s the worst.

Some will say that my plan is unfair to the extremely wealthy. I say it is only reasonable to shift the burden to those most able to pay. The wealthy actually would not suffer severe repercussions. The 14.25% net-worth tax would be offset by repeal of the 55% inheritance-tax liability.

Simplify tax code; end marriage penalty & other hidden taxes

  • Let me sum up what is wrong with the tax code.
  • Its complexity bleeds off billions of productive hours.
  • Tax rates are too high.
  • Hidden taxes take even more.
  • High property taxes punish people for improving their property.
  • Our code discriminates against married people.
  • The complexity of the tax code allows too much government intrusion into our lives.
  • The tax code is liable to change overnight in ways that could jeopardize your plans for a small business or retirement.

Opposes flat tax; benefits wealthy too much

  • I object to the flat tax:
  • It is unfair to the poor; eliminating the Earned Income Tax Credit [hurts] taxpayers at the lowest rungs of the ladder.
  • It is unfair to workers by taxing them for health insurance and other benefits.
  • Only the wealthy would reap a windfall, because a flat tax would allow them to cash in interest payments and capital gains without paying personal income taxes.
  • I don’t believe that a flat tax could raise enough revenue to keep the government operating.

Personally avoids sales tax, but knows many people like it

Asked to discuss the idea of a national sales tax, Trump responded: “How do I feel about sales tax? I try to avoid paying it whenever possible. But the idea is an idea that a lot of people like very much.”

One-time 14.25% tax on wealth, to erase national debt

Trump wants to soak the rich, including himself. He proposed a 14.25% tax yesterday on the net worth of wealthy Americans.

  • He said the one-time tax package would:
  • Raise $5.7 trillion to erase the nation’s debt and save $200 billion in annual interest payments
  • Use the savings to save Social Security and slash taxes for the middle class
  • Increase his personal tax bill by at least $725 million.

Tax assets over $10 million, paid over 10 years

Trump proposed a 14.25% tax on the net worth of wealthy Americans. People and trusts valued at more than $10 million would be subject to the new tax. The original plan called for collection in a single year but, in a last-minute change, Trump said he would allow more time for people having trouble liquefying their assets. “Let’s say 10 years,” he said.
