POL Why Mike Pence’s speech was really important, and what it says about 2024

Former Vice President Mike Pence made headlines during his stop in New Hampshire.

The former vice president well received speech was interrupted by numerous standing ovations by the sold out crowd of conservative activists and leaders. His address included plenty body slams of President Biden’s "failed leadership," and he dove head first into the nation’s culture wars by targeting critical race theory and stressing that "America is not a racist nation," as well as firing away at the congressional Democrats push to "nationalize our elections" while praising GOP controlled states that have passed into law tightened voting access rules.

By headlining a top county fundraising dinner in the state that holds the first primary in the race for the White House, Pence also sparked more speculation about a likely 2024 run for the Republican presidential nomination.

But the most newsworthy moment of his address came as he gave his most extensive comments to date about the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Pence has been in a precarious position among some in the GOP base since the storming of the Capitol by right wing extremists aiming to disrupt congressional certification of Biden’s election victory over then-President Trump.

Pence was at the Capitol at the time it was attacked, overseeing the joint session of Congress. By following his Constitution duties instead of following Trump’s wishes and overturn the results, Pence has endured the wrath of the former president and some of Trump’s most devout loyalists and supporters.

In his Thursday night speech at the Hillsborough County GOP’s Lincoln-Reagan Day dinner, Pence - who along with members of Congress was forced to move to secure rooms while the Capitol was stormed - called the attack a "dark" and "tragic" day in American history. But he emphasized "that same day we reconvened the Congress and did our duty under the Constitution and the laws of the United States."

Pence, Trump’s loyal right hand man the past four years, highlighted that he and Trump have spoken "many times" since the end of their administration in January. But pointing to what many see as his now frayed relationship with the former president, he acknowledged that "I don’t know if we’ll ever see eye to eye about that day."

But he quickly added that "I will always be proud what we accomplished for the American people over the last four years," which brought the sold out audience of more than 360 Granite State conservative leaders and activists to their feet in applause. Throughout his address Pence repeatedly touted the Trump-Pence administration’s successes.

And alluding to the unsuccessful push by congressional Democrats to pass legislation setting up a Jan. 6 commission to investigation the insurrection – which was thwarted by GOP leadership in the U.S. Senate – Pence said "I will not allow the Democrats and their allies in the media to use one tragic day to discredit the aspirations of millions of Americans."

The snake is shedding his skin but he's still a snake. If he had a pair of gonads he could of refused to certify the electoral college results knowing that they were tainted. He made his choice and decided not to back Trump and helped allow the election to be stolen from Trump and himself. He can go and slither back under the rocks he crawled out of AFAIC.

You at least ask the question.

No one (well most) will not self sacrifice, for anyone for any reason, unless they can somehow gain.

Our leaderships and people lack of honor (not all but many). The inability to bear other's sufferings, take pain, finical sacrifice, physical sacrifice or mental sacrifice is in a sad state. Who now days is willing to sacrifice blood family treasure etc. not many and not Pence.

I see our country as post Christian/Christian values. A constant decline in morality and overall good will only continue. Many people I know insert themselves as god and a therefore can justify any type of behavior. Without absolutes and an absolute God you get relativistic hell holes.

Pence at least seems only to self-serve as most government employees or supposed peoples servants.

Pence for prez? Nope, nope and nope. He's shown he's either a traitor to his boss or a RINO, go along to get along stooge. By turning on President Trump and We The People, he's proven to have no moral character. He couldn't even fight for his own job! No "eye of the tiger" in that guy and so....to the reject bin he goes.

I think if Pence ran against Trump in the primary, Pence would win. I used to listen to Pence's radio show out of Indianapolis years ago and he has always been hard core conservative. He did not get angry and rant like Hannity or a lot of conservative talk show hosts but he stuck to his guns and influenced a lot of people by rational discussion and explaining why they were wrong. He also Governed Indiana as a conservative. Sort of like Ron DeSantis does in Fla. I really like him too but I'm sure even he would disappoint me on some issues as President. I loved Trump myself but I failed to understand how his way of speaking angered a lot of people, including some republicans. I knew it was the way a lot of New Yorkers speak and found him to be a typical New Yorker in that regard and I though he was funny. I had several republicans tell me they agreed with him on everything but wished he would tone it down a bit. Liberals actually hated him for his speech more than anything else. Compare that with Biden. A doddering old fool with his mind half gone but not man y people really hate him like they did Trump. They don't like his policies or his VP but Biden himself is more viewed as a sad old man than hated. Sadly, appearances matter. I would vote for Trump again in a heartbeat but I doubt he could beat a lot of other candidates.

What would it of meant if not only Pence, but Trump's cabinet as well as the Republican leadership in both the House and Senate exposed this fraud for what they all know it to be? Might that have given the USSC Justices some cover so they didn't feel like they were going out on a limb with no support? If Pence backed Trump up with every fiber of his being not because of loyalty to Trump but because of the oath that he took and refused to certify a blatantly fraudulent election what might it of meant?

All under the water at this point but most of them knew how crooked this whole affair was especially McConnell and they all took a powder to keep their cushy job, benefits and power and their oath to support, preserve and protect takes a distant second place to the perks of power and of office.

They just did a poll where Trump got 67% and Pence got 0%

I don't think our enemies will allow another election to happen. Covid and the "vaccine" are a two stage binary bio weapon. Once the second phase trigger hits, whatever it is, TSHTF and game over.

Pence certified a stolen election and is a traitor not that it matters now.
New Hampshires audit shows the steal is solid.

I live in Oregon so there is no point in voting. I am following the Greater Idaho leave Oregon movement which might actually work.

I don't really have an opinion on Pence. But I do remember he got a letter at Bush's funeral.....

That may have been true years ago, poppy, but his decision to not reject the electoral college vote has branded him a traitor in many eyes. He knew there were questions but decided to let it all ride. Actions speak of character and Mikey's is all low.

I had a lot of respect for Pence prior to Jan 6, and think he was a good 2nd or gopher to President Trump. I don't think he would be a good president. I wasn't so upset about his certifying the election as he was acting per constitutional requirements. I was however, furious that he stabbed Trump in the back and called a protest that got a little rowdy an insurrection and the darkest day in US history. A lot of good people's lives have been ruined for his lack of backbone on that. For that reason, I wouldn't vote for him for chief poop inspector of the capital grounds.

Pride comes before the fall.....Pride month ended.
Face it, he handed the nation over to the globalists. He single handily pulled The trigger. He didn’t build the gun, or the bullet, but he aimed it and pulled the trigger. He should be hung along with those others who set it up, knowingly. Shame should lead him to a mental breakdown...but that would take a true moral foundation. He lies well.

I would never vote for him but to be honest I don't know that I would waste 15 minutes of my life to bother voting at all at this point.
