I've been thinking about this for a while now, but have been so busy with school and life in general to post about it. I've called TB home for nearly 20 years now, lurking to official member, and that time has flown by. I have seen members come and go, and grieved the loss of great people I knew only from interactions here. I absolutely love this place and cant stand the thought of losing more of our members or God forbid the site to the attrition of time.
With that I believe the hay days of the internet forums, late 90s early 2000s, have come and gone. Most younger people now are not interested in these types of platforms. I think I'm among the younger members here at 48. What does the next 10 years hold for TB?

While the younger folks prefer other "apps" and platforms, TB2K is unique having global members and 24/7 "boots on the ground" observers.

We share news before the major media even considers it. (or doesn't cover it at all)

I have been able to "warn" family members about situations occuring near them that no "alerts" were given- yet.

TB2K is a treasure. I can pose a question and receive a "how to do it" reply within 10 minutes.
 
I owned and managed a few Invision forums, although not as big as this forum. Fakebook and other social media killed them off some years ago.

I still miss them, and to be able to easily see what had been posted in the past on whatever topics. Instagram and Fakebook live in the now, and it's all so fleeting.
 
A large part of our community seems to be mature if not elderly. They tend to discussions involving nostalgia or issues with aging. I don't see either of these being of interest to younger generations - which is necessary for us to continue.

I'm here for community and enjoy interacting with a wide range of generations. The elders have valuable wisdom and the youngin's have insights into new technology. I also like hearing different opinions and perspectives in a civil discussion. Thanks to everyone for that!

As long as we can enjoy a wide range of topics for positive discussion, I think we will continue to grow and have fun.
 
I believe TB2K will continue to grow and prosper, myself. This place is like that superb restaurant nobody knows about until you're tipped off about it by a friend.

People who come here I feel are a different breed of individual. Intelligent, curious, driven and respectful. The average TB2Ker doesn't fit a set demographic or thought process. They are the people that think for themselves. Definitely not the typical FB or Instagram poster; people here want more and give more. TB2K has become a pretty tight knit family; conservative leaning overall but it's not a MAGA echo chamber either. People here have different views and outlooks; learning from them is great! Even the disagreements here are pretty respectful, overall.

There is hope among the Gen Z and millenials; not all of them are lazy living in mommy's basement and mooching off them. Those of these generations will want to know more, learn more. And they will show up here. They will have ideas, and knowledge to share, and a curiosity to learn more.
And they will be welcomed with open arms.

Sure, there's an older demographic here. That's part of the appeal of TB2K. Look at the sheer VOLUMES of knowledge and information and insights on here, for free on a daily basis. The newsgathering here is better quality than you'd get from a DOD early bird report. Analysis is as good as something off a DIA analyst's desk. Knowledge is power, and this place is EXTREMELY powerful.

24 been a member for a year now. I value the knowledge I read from many of the members. I trust there sources and outlooks more than my own at times. I’ve learned a lot and continue to learn that the more you think you know the less you truly do. There are still more like me out there sir. Just maybe waiting there time and just learning.
 
I think there's really no way to plan for it. Ten years from now social media, forums, all this stuff will be unrecognizable to us, if we saw it now. Back in the '90's was there anyone on the planet that could predict the impact that social media via the internet has had? I don't recall anyone calling it accurately. And I read quite a bit of futurist stuff and science fiction.
 
We all have days when we feel like the long black train approaches. That said, that's not how you really need to live your life day-to-day. I've had a few reality checks the last couple of years. It has changed the way I do things and how I prep and what for and for how many. TB2K is part of my choice to survive and to remain as caring about people as I can. If I didn't have TB2K I'd probably be a bit sourer, to my personal detriment as well as the detriment of others that I interact with in real life.

Let's be honest. There are days that TB2K is like a comfy couch. Other days it can be a bed of nails. What it never is, is a place where people go to give up and fail. This forum and the people that participate on it have far outlived most other forums. We exist because we aren't still whining and complaining about stuff that happened 15 to 20 or more years ago. We've grown far beyond it and continue to grow, continue to welcome new members, continue healthy discussions, continue to rise above fearful and concerning things, and don't need to make ourselves look better by cutting down others. Yes, our criticism can be withering but that's not all we are, not all that we are about, not all that we were created from, not all that we exist to be.

TB2K will outlive many of us. Nothing to fear or worry about in that. Each of us have contributed to this living legacy called TB2K. That's a good thing.
 
Since DJT is back in, I really do not care about current events. I know the demoncrats are scrapping their nails.
I look forward to the DS being arrested and tried for their treason.
I continue pray for DJT and his cabinet for protection and for them to rain fire on the traitors.

One thing in life, and death that is as sure as it gets, if you are a believer, he knows it. And you are saved by his Grace, and Love, not necessarily in that order.
 
48. I joined when Weebit was a toddler, so I think in around 2005 because a friend had said something about a terrorist threat rumor for 8-5-05 that spooked me. I found ki4u.com and followed Shane's link here. I've been in and out over that time as internet hasn't always been a guarantee.

This place helps me with my anxiety and keeps me from feeling lonely. I know I'm not alone in my need to prepare. I was made to feel like I was crazy by those around me, including my ex, who now has been purchasing buckets of freeze dried meals himself and asking about gardening. Being here has shown me it was not true, and I was juat being gaslit by those around me. Most of those ppl are now out of my life.

TB2K is one of the most importamt places on the internet. Whatever it takes to keep it going needs to be done. Including inviting young ppl like Weebit. She's 21 now.

I extend a formal invitation to Weebit. Pull up a chair, grab some munchies and beverage of your choice, and let's talk a spell. This place is Home, and a home should have new faces, as well as old ones. :rdog:
 
Well, I think that as many of us are older, grown kids and even grandkids In some instances, we have the time. I’ve been on these type boards for 25+ years now…it was much, much more difficult when raising kids, working two jobs, etc.

I expect once the younger generation ages…especially if/when things unravel, they’ll find their way here as well all did…

I can’t remember the exact quote, but Dennis has said in the past, the information, wisdom, etc is history in the making…it’s our legacy to the younger people…this place is really a gold mine!

That old saying comes to mind: “Every time an old man or old woman dies, a library burns!”

This place may just be the salvation of many people one day…not just spiritually, but physically, perhaps even play a part in a societal restart.

Even if it’s not needed, I’m much richer for having learned from most all of you…even the few clowns are amusing!

Almost 68 (in July).

am grateful my son Timothy is here (though he doesn't post often) and I keep trying to get my younger middle son to join.

I still wonder if it might not be a good drawing card if we had a 'room' for 'second-generation TB2K'ers specifically for them-? Might draw in a new generation of thinking young people?

There is a distinct difference between discussion forum formats and "social media". I'm gonna be hard pressed to define exactly what that is. I don't do social media anymore; haven't since hubby died. 2015. But as a trainer of the use of technology in education, I learned the value of discussion forums in teaching via the socratic method - asking questions, discussing the elements, and making one's own conclusions.

TB2K will endure, methinks. My D - who is tech phobic altho' that's changing - is 47. She would be happy with this place IF she hadn't already swallowed the social media garbage hook line & sinker. She's practical, works her ass off when given the go ahead, and cares about people. I'm letting her find her own way.

Before "current events" I was active on an art forum. Had many a fruitful and enlightening discussion there. They stopped for whatever reason - I lost touch with that whole community. This would've been early 00's and late 90's. It matters not the topic. What matters is that people feel able to think about and share their thoughts on the topic of moment. They have time to think, and compose a coherent logic for their conclusions. Something that's less likely with social media which moves too fast for anything other than emotional reaction. For that reason, I think TB2K will continue.

OH - and I thought Dennis already designated Millright as his "heir". And he accepted. Or did I imagine that?
 
I visit every day. I arrived 1999 for the turnover to 2000. I was pretty sure the end was nigh but here we are, 25 years later! I appreciate the knowledge and wisdom and common sense people here. Interesting that so many of us are INTJs. Perhaps that's why the platform is great ... it is just what INT people need.
