WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) - The Waynesboro Police Department is managing an “emergency” situation Wednesday morning at Westwood Hills Elementary School, the division announced.

The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is reporting the incident at Westwood Elementary School is “contained and secured at this time” as of 10:23 a.m.

“The Children are safe and are being evacuated from the School. Please wait for notification and instruction from Waynesboro Public Schools. Please DO NOT respond to the school we need access for the buses and emergency vehicles,” ACPS said.

WPS is coordinating reunification between students and families at Westminster Presbyterian Church located at 1904 Mount Vernon Street in Waynesboro. Families are staging in the lower fellowship hall, WPS said. WPS instructed families to enter where signs say “entry.”

Meanwhile, schools in Stuarts Draft and the Wilson Complex are under lockdown Wednesday morning, according to school officials from Augusta County Public Schools. ACPS confirmed the Augusta County sheriff ordered the lockdown as a precaution as reports of the emergency in Waynesboro circulated.

Or some "parent" upset that Dontavius got disciplined for causing trouble on his first day in the first grade. "Displinin' a young boy fo' tryin' ta rape some honkey bitch in his class ain't no resun to punish my first grader."

Or little Dontavius might have brought the gun and shown the teacher his displeasure at being "dispected" all by himself.
 
If I had any children in public schools, they wouldn't attend the first full week back from summer break. We'd be on vacation in Amish country, nowhere near their schools, either.

Quite observant of you, as several recent violent events have been perpetrated by yutes who's first names end in "avius". Observing short dreadlocks and a certain tone of skin pigmentation gets one bonus points.

Low population of that type in that town when I did a search.
 
Nothing much in the local paper up there today. It sounds like he lived in the area but nothing else has been released. The only details are that he forced his way into the school and shot a teacher's aide in the library. PD was called for a suspicious person hanging around the school. They arrived in 3 minutes and found the shooter dead in the library of a self inflicted gunshot wound. The aide had a minor gunshot wound and was treated and released. The paper did publish a picture of him.
I'll keep checking this one. It's curious.
