Day late again - yesterday was just one of those mornings... I think while I was on vacation, I figured out that my normal sleep pattern is from about 8:15pm to 3:15am or so. Since half the time I don't get off work until 8pm or later, then have a 45 minute plus drive home - all the while playing dodge Bambi while trying to figure out routes where I might not have to share a one lane country road with a 12 row combine in the dark... well, that lovely schedule has gone out the window. And I ain't adapting well, if you get my drift

Which is why I'm still in pajamas, not even half way through my first cup of coffee or what I'd planned to type this morning, and the neighbor is already texting me that she's leaving her house to pick me up to go to the pool...

Oh well, at least I managed to get the thread started - I'm taking my victories where I find 'em today!

Take care all; have a safe day!

Hubby and I made our bi-monthly run to Sam's Club, yesterday. Stocked up on things that were getting low in the pantry. Hubby, also stocked up on more ammo.

We're beginning to winterize our lawn and gardens. Lots of leaves beginning to fall. We rake them, and add to our compost pile. Picking up pecans from underneath our pecan tree, along with gathering an abundance of muscadines for jelly. Cooler weather, with no rain, and it makes working outdoors much more pleasurable.

Hey you got coffee..all things are possible!
I'm still configuring my little camper. Going to redo the bed again. The futon is not cutting it. But I have a twin size mattress that will fit good and will add some foam on top. Underneath that I have four 5 gallon pails. I am filling these with stable and non perishables. Stuff I wont need constantly, but ongoing.
Got the first aid kit tricked out, and the tool box. Staying minimal. I have several cans of flex seal to redo the roof, when it stops raining. Next on the list is a small battery to run lights, though I've picked up a bunch of solar stuff dirt cheap too. I've got to change the lock on the camper door, I locked myself out last night taking my pup to potty.
Last but not least, saw a Prepper Survival magazine at the store I grabbed. It was actually very good and had some new ideas and refreshed the old ones.
How are you doing now after the pool?

ps: changing BOB to my faithful backpack. Had it packed for years, took it out when Trump got in. LOL ok. wishful thinking.
power pack with solar/flashlight/air compressor/usb and 110 outlets is great. But heavy. Might look for something more lightwgt.

Yeah, we have our own huge pecan tree in the backyard, and it's loaded this year. They are falling from the tree, and we just pick them off the ground. We gather them in baskets to dry, and on cold winter days hubby cracks and shells them for me. I chop them up, and into the freezer they go. We're having to fight the squirrels for them this year, though. Hopefully, they will spare me a few gallons, LOL.

Pecan tree - I'm drooling! Our two pecan trees, which were planted at least 20 years ago by my father, finally gave us one pecan last year - I was pretty excited! We are really too far north for them, but Pop had to try. I did buy a bag (ouch!) of pecans at Aldi yesterday (Boss mentioned that he missed the shortbread cookies I used to make) and now wish he'd planted several more... We do have hickory and black walnut trees galore, at least.

The pool was great, Wanderlore - wore me out to the point I came home and took a nap!! It was even nicer yesterday since they shut down the air conditioning - I'm hoping that they just open the windows instead of turning it back on... Our Indian Summer usually hits around Columbus Day; I thought maybe last week was it, as it had been cold then turned off warm again; but it looks like we have a few warm days in the calendar this week as well - 90 today, 70 tomorrow, then some mid to low 80's for a few days before settling back into the 70's.

As for preps, I used a combo of coupons and sales to pick up 44 assorted cans of soup yesterday - and also some ink for the printer so that I could print some more coupons. I'm watching and hoping for some better soup sales at the larger stores; the recent ones have been at Dollar General or the drug stores, who have limited varieties. The sales are starting to trickle in, but will just use the coupons to stock up if needs be as I don't like shopping for heavy items when surfaces are slick with snow/ice - I breaks when I falls down, these days!

Daughter got the green light to move back into her house yesterday; the ex had moved out over the weekend and just left it sitting unlocked; so lucky it didn't get vandalized! (Handily, the neighbors have a security camera that shows one side of her house - the side where the door was left unlocked.) But at least she was able to get inside, and the locksmith was able to come right by to change the locks (his wife is a client, she may have urged him to do so  ) so she could lock it up again. She went over in between appointments to do some cleaning, then I snagged the boys after school and stayed with them until nearly 8pm so that she could go back and clean some more - it was just plain nasty, and quite a bit of it appeared deliberate - feces/tp left in toilets, etc... - plus there was some unpleasant graffiti written on one wall, so it will need to be painted over before the boys move back in. I'm going over this morning to pick up my purse that I forgot at her house, and will go to Dollar General to pick up things like trash cans, toilet brushes, gallons of bleach  - all the little things. She's going to work in between appointments and evenings on getting repairs and the cleaning done the next couple of days then move the major items in on Friday - fridge, washer/dryer, her shop things... The rest will get done as it gets done; I'll happily pay the rental unit storage fees myself if it will give us an extra month in order to have that month to move stuff slowly!

I will snag the boys Saturday morning in order to keep them from being underfoot while she is moving; then will hitch up the trailer, and head to my work Buddy's house as he is also moving this weekend. His new house has a large back yard with a swing set, so we'll throw the boys out in the yard with a kick ball and some water balloons so that I can stay at the house to accept furniture and appliance deliveries, clean, and put stuff away while the younger people move items - one co-worker's college age daughter has some male friends who just rented an apartment, so Buddy is going to give them his old furniture in trade for doing the heavy lifting; I just love it when things work out that way!

Guess I'd probably better get moving if I'm going to get anything done and still make it to the pool before I have to pick up the boys!

Take care all; stay safe out there!

No, no, I'm sorry. The ammo was bought at a different place. I just restocked my pantry at Sam's. We only go into town bi-monthly. I have a list of all the places I need to go, and DH does the same. We make it an all day trip.

I was hoping. It would save me a trip and I might enjoy the Sams trips a bit more.....lol

We also have a black walnut tree, but we like pecans better. I would love to have some chestnuts! We can't even find them in stores down here. My aunt has an old chestnut tree, but the chestnuts are always filled with worms, yuk.

We planted a couple acres of clover for the bees and another couple acres of wildlife food plot.

I got my lab results back. After treating my thyroid issue naturally, my results came back in the normal range. It has taken almost 4 years to get to this point. And it has not been easy at times. The last 2 years have been spent trying to figure the correct prescription dosage as my thyroid steadily improved. The last year I barely took any prescription for it. Now my labs prove it was the right approach.

I meet with the herb buyer for the first time tomorrow. I have a lot of questions. I hope my product is handled correctly. We shall see.

We met with the herb buyer. He bought all our product. Though we are late to the game this year, hopefully we will have morenext year. He was excited to getour snake root. He mostly haspeople bring ginseng. I wish I had some to sell him. Hopefully we will in a few years. But I had $26 and my son made $70. He had $40 just in blackberry root. We have a big pile where we picked up roots behind the pasture renavator still to process. We will have more snake root in a few weeks to sell. It is not much cash, but it cost us nothing but some time. We collected the blackberry roots where we were plating food plots and clover. The other roots and herbs, I count as my exercise plan. I walk and gather as I go. It is my quite me time. I love my walks in the woods.

I have made several types of jelly to give at Christmas. We harvested enough honey to give a pint along with the jelly. I would like to cut back on gifts for all but the kids. I dont know if that will happen though.
