Good Morning, All! Hoping this finds you all in good spirits today :)

I'm taking advantage of the relative peace and quiet while the grandkids are still asleep to get the thread started for the week, but this will likely be a short post because I'm having to type on the blasted tablet and it's annoying as all get out!

Daughter and son-in-law should be home sometime today; their flight home last night was delayed until this morning. The grandkids and I plan to head down south a bit after we drop off my stuff at home this morning; we'll be going to a small festival where there will be some old time crafters on display. Since this is the area where my Dad's family is from there will also be some stops at cemeteries, where I will show the kids how to take rubbings of the older tombstones.

Tomorrow, I'm hoping for a quiet day at home with Hubby; maybe with a short trip to the range included. Tuesday and Wednesday will be catching up on things at home and doing a bit of organizing; then it's back to work for a couple of days before having a weekend off again - said weekend to be filled with soccer and football games, a birthday party for younger grandson to attend, and myriad other activities - as usual

Take care all; wishing you a blessed day...

Looks like another no preps week here, but that is okay - I will save my money for next week as the small local grocery store is advertising that they are going to have a big meat sale - maybe I can get some more meat canned up if the sale is a good one.

A co-worker informed me that we are getting a $400 bonus at work, to be paid this Friday. Of course, they will take about half for taxes, but half is better than none. I may put it toward the meat purchase, or save it for later deals or the holidays; haven't decided as yet.

While I was staying at daughter's this past week, the beekeeper who has hives on our ground came down and disced down part of two fields and planted them in a special mix for bees; it will be really interesting to see what all comes up. Luckily, we had some good rain after he planted, so the seeds should have no trouble sprouting once the temps moderate some. Hubby spent his time while I was gone mowing down the finished up garden areas; I still need to clean out the raised beds and plant some fall crops - but with temps forecast in the high 80's, I think I'll hold off until next week when they are supposed to be in the mid to high 70's to do any planting.

The farmers are hitting the corn harvest hard in this area; seems a bit early to me but maybe it's just the weather that makes me think so. I'm wondering about an early winter - our hummingbirds are already migrating. Glad we contracted for our usual amount of propane back in July - we usually don't use it all and have enough $$ left on the contract for a summer fill and to apply to the next year's contract, but an early winter could change that.

I had to run into daughter's town this morning to return the pie plate to the foo-foo bakery; somehow a certain short person followed me home :) This afternoon, we have to go to my work town to pick up a prescription and have it filled; then I will take him to his 'Ninja School' at the local tumbling center before taking him home. Tomorrow will be taken up with mowing and garden clean up; might put some mulch down if I have energy enough to load some this afternoon when we go to town.

Well. lunch is over - need to go clean chocolate cupcake off the short person's face, then get him ready to head to town. You folks all take care out there; stay safe!

This week we're working on home repairs and staying home. Dh replaced a facia board this morning and caulked it. Soon as that dries we will start painting the eaves. They are majorly overdue for that. I put a turkey in the oven this morning (bought on sale last year) and we will make a few meals off that and then I will can the rest. Hopefully can be motivated enough to make some broth too. Youngest son has a "ninja" belt test this weekend and then IF the gas situation is gone we will go to a family reunion Sunday.

Bought 6 of the 64 oz bottles of Gatorade at 3/5.00 to replace what I used up when I had a cold. Good price. I also bought 8 cans of golden mushroom soup at 80 cents a can after coupons and sale, or less than half price. I use them to make pot roast. I also found that I could use a rice coupon to get pouches of yellow rice mix for 35 cents, so I got a few of those as well. Always nice to have options. That was about all that was interesting on sale so far this week.

(Moldy dancing around and waving her arms - yes, yes, yes!!!) I harvested my first honey today ever! It's been a steep and expensive learning curve, but the honey is soooo good!! I also roasted some tomatoes, that I am getting ready to turn into sauce and juice.

A quick stop to the Dollar Tree today--some boxed beef broth, some boxed milk, 6 cans of apples, and some misc. medical supplies, along with some snacks.

Good Deal, Moldy!! I miss working with the bees; hope the beekeeper who has hives on us will let me help with the honey harvest next year. I also miss having beeswax on hand for rubbing on drawer glides and waxing thread.

Started feeling sick during the night last night, and threatened DH with mortal injury if he woke me up! I'm feeling a little better now, just sad that my vacation is over, and I didn't get near as much done as I would have liked. I did get my honey jarred up today, but that's been about it.
