Good Afternoon!

Busy morning with the grandkids - and it will get busy again around 2:30, so I've sent the boys upstairs to play quietly (well, sort of) in their rooms and will soon be joining them in hopes of a short nap before chaos kicks in again.

Kids - they are soooo funny! Older grandson (6) is VERY particular! He keeps his room very neat, organizes his toys (he loves those drawer bins!), has already asked me what the weather will be tomorrow, and has his school clothes laid out, ready to put on in the morning. Younger grandson (5) reminds me of Pig Pen on Charlie Brown - face and hands constantly grubby, knees skinned, and leaving a wake of mud and crumbs behind; but is such a happy little boy that it's hard to grumble at the mess. Granddaughter alternates between neat and messy, happy and grumpy - all depending on how much sleep she has had; she does very well at keeping her own schedule and is sooo mature for her age that it's almost frightening! I'm so glad (exhausted, but glad!) that I've been able to spend the past several days with them....

That said - I plan to sleep all day Monday

Plans for Tuesday and Wednesday include walking/going to aqua aerobics with the neighbors, getting an area in the garden cleaned up and a load of mulch put down, and picking a couple of small garden trailer loads of ear corn and getting it put up in my big metal trash cans. I need to start easing my brain back into work mode for Thursday, too (darn it!) Friday, I will spend part of the day at the hospital with my co-worker Buddy who is having outpatient surgery; then will haul him home and keep an eye on him until early evening, when another friend will take over so that I can go to the football game - it's homecoming, so I don't want to miss it!

I've only seen three ads so far today - the CVS ad is annoying in that it says "See shelf for this week's specials!" rather than having a sale price noted. Harbor Freight doesn't have anything interesting; and the only thing I saw at Dollar General was a continued 'Buy 2; Get 1 Free' sale on Campbells Chunky soup - takes the price from $1.95/can to $1.30, so I will likely pick up a case. Of course, I'll be scouting for coupons before I shop :)

I did snag a bargain at Dollar General when we stopped by there Saturday evening for granddaughter to pick up paper plates and plastic silverware to take to the Cheer cookout (if we'd been at my house, we wouldn't have had to stop at the store lol!). I found 8 - 1.5# boxes of Miracle Grow fertilizer clearance priced at $2.25 each, so snagged all of them. Since I had a $5 off $25 register receipt coupon, I added up the items in our cart, then added 2 boxes of canning jar lids to bring the total before tax price to just over $25, so was able to get the $5 off. Always good to add jar lids to the stockpile - and I ended up with another $5 off $25 coupon for next Saturday if I choose to use it :)

Just saw a notification on my phone that the linemen from our local and nearby electric co-ops are back home; they were working repairing storm damage down in Georgia. So glad one of the fellows is back home - but not as glad as his very pregnant wife is; she was afraid their daughter would be born while he was away. I am so grateful for the folks who are willing to put their home lives aside for the moment to help others!

Hmmm.... suspiciously quiet upstairs - either they've fallen asleep, or there's something going on I probably won't like! Reckon I'd best go find out which one it is!

Take care all; have a blessed week!

DH has worked like a dog this last week while he's been off from his regular job. I've just worked and gone to school. Monday and Tuesday, we are visiting herb farms/production facilities for school (no, not pot farms!). Wednesday is regular school, then I have a day off on Thursday - I hope to get a lot done around the house - things are just sliding too much for my liking. Back to work on Friday....

I have 25 cords of wood stacked.

30 pink salmon 10 white king salmon all in the freezer.

2 quarters of young bull moose are in the 2nd freezer.

I am going to try for 30 cords, then call it done.

Then bird hunting, and meat smoking, winterizing the machines.

Then get ready for trapping season.

To get a musk ox tag you have to wait two day in the f and g parking lot, during winter. If you leave you lose your place in line. Musk ox are protected.

He he he. Nothing here as exotic as musk ox or moose. Our family likes canned mandarin orange slices. I don't buy them from China. (Our puppy almost died by the poisoned Chinese dog food a few years back.) We'd been getting them from Trader Joe's. Come to find out Wegman's has them imported from Spain in Pear juice for like half the price.
