We had some extra time before picking up our grandson where the kids work. Hubby dropped me at Ross and he went to get gas and dog food. I bought a couple of Christmas presents and bathroom rugs for our bathroom in the bedroom. The others looked like a muppet exploded in the washing machine last time I washed them. I am trying memory foam this time. Ross did not seem that well stocked. Usually the shelves are overflowing. Today the kitchen stuff was spread out to take up space. Spoon rest lined up on the shelves one by one to take up room.

Today we made a shop at Dollar Tree in a town we don't usually go to. The last trip to DT I bought some Palmolive Essential Clean dish soap to try. It keep suds pretty well as well as cleaning so I bought several more bottles. When the power was out recently I used it when I was boiling water to wash dishes and it got the grease off.

I bought many bags of hard candies that are individually wrapped to vacuum seal, it keeps a long time that way. I bought another 12 packages of Bumble Bee chicken salad in a soft package, I find it tasty and fills up a tortilla nicely. I looked for regular tea bags, but they had none, I found 100 to a package of black tea at walmart, four boxes of that. They are going in vacuum sealed jars also. I also got 12 bottles of B12 energy shot. This DT has the boxed milk. I get 2% in commodities but I prefer whole milk, I got 6 boxes of it. 4 cans of Swanson Chicken a la King, that will be new to my pantry. A couple of small cans of condensed milk, this is something that I very rarely use, but figured it wouldn't hurt to have some on my shelf, along with evaporated milk. Many other things that I can't remember right now, I could not have gotten anything else on my cart and had to get a second cart to get all the stuff out to the truck.

I've been looking at cook books that I have on cooking from the pantry and I think I have just about anything needed.

I also placed an order from Amazon. One thing I've been wanting is a garden bench that also converts lower that you can kneel on and handles on each end to help me get up. I got some quarantine signs that I thought we could put up in a few places that might make people think twice about coming up here. Also a 4" silicone woopie pan to bake cornbread in without it sticking. And a couple of sets of long underwear for me just in case. DH already has some. A bottle of butter extract to use to make butter from powdered milk if I get a wild hair to do that. I've got a few thing in my shopping card at walmart that I will order tomorrow.

It will be interesting to see what we get in commodities next week.

God is good all the time

Judy

Those garden kneelers are the best! And good around the house, also.

Canners going with beef veggie soup in them; chicken still partially frozen so I'll check it in the morning and see what I can do with it then.

The broth I bought at Aldi was really salty; not sure Hubby is gonna like it in his soup - I did thin it down with water, but... They had broth and stock; maybe I'll check the label on the stock to see if there is less salt in it.

shopped at local Safeway....had digital coupons for one free 10 oz bag of coffee and another one for $3 off a sale bag...saw some Bob's Red Mill cornbread mix and some potato flour...bought what they had in markdowns and also 12 small bags of freeze dried skillet meals........more for small lunches....Mtn. House for $3.07 each...never bought it before..........

while shopping I had an impression that prepping will soon be over.........one way or another........felt like that for last few shops...........lots can happen in short time!!

Decided to can some more soup, went down stairs to bring up some jars and got lost for an hour or so while moving things around in the pantry  Managed to make it back upstairs and have two canners going with beef veggie soup in them. I poked the chicken breast that is in the cooler; it feels thawed enough that I can start working it up here pretty soon - I'll start with canning chunks of meat in broth, then go on to soup from there - if I don't run out of veggies. I still have a sirloin roast in the fridge but I haven't decided whether to turn it in to beef veggie soup or supper - supper is starting to look like a better plan since we are under a burn ban and can't have the weenie roast with the grandsons that I was planning....
