I love cooler weather, though it doesn't get too cool in Florida. I'm actually leaving on a cruise to the Caribbean on Monday and will be gone until the 20th. Gets me away from the commercialism of Christmas. All of my shopping is done and we ordered Christmas dinner from Publix.

Amazon has been having some great deals. I have really stocked up on Auguson Farms potatoes and their bread roll mix. Lots of stuff ordered for the food pantry. At the grocery store I am just restocking things we have used like a bottle of veggie oil, some tea bags and stuff like that. We are stacked deep here. Also picked up a big box of baking soda, a few more lighters, some more bucket lids. and more toilet paper.

I wear shoes from Orthofeet because of plantar fascitis. I ordered a pair about six weeks ago when they were on sale and ordered another pair on a Black Friday sale. Should be set for quite a while on shoes. Can't think of anything else we need or want, but I always have my eyes open.

47 and cloudy here right now,

Dh gets a headache when his bp is high.

I always get a headache when mine is high, too. I just checked it again, and it was still high. 147/94. I had to break down and take a couple of extra strength Tylenol. Hope it helps with the headache. I'll take another BP pill, tonight, after I eat supper. I have to take it twice a day. I guess, I should have stayed on them to start with. Doc told me I could go off of them to see how I did, but go back on them if my BP started rising, again. It was doing fine, until 5 days ago. A one or two day jump is ok, but if it stays high, that's when I need the med.

I had a couple of rough days. Kept unintentionally falling asleep. Otherwise just felt like crap. Heart rhythm acting up big time.

Started feeling some better last night.

Went to bathroom this morning. When I attempted to stand up from the toilet, my legs gave. I ended up falling half on and half off the toilet to the side with my head hitting the wall pretty hard. It didn't break the drywall but it left a plainly visible dent in it. I couldn't maneuver without ending up in the floor. I repeatedly called for help, finally awakening my wife and getting her attention. I got her to wake up her son to come pull me up and over back onto the toilet properly. My wife is nowhere strong enough to do that. Thankfully no lasting effects from the fall other than the dent in the wall.

Picking up groceries at Walmart and Price Cutter later. Took advantage of some sales. I was real glad that the beef stew meat my wife wanted was on sale. We have four pounds (two 2 pound packages) of bison stew meat in the freezer that came in the senior commodities, but she refuses to use it. She claims bison has too strong of a taste even though she hasn't tried it. Maybe I can find a good recipe for using it in the crock pot. I love bison.

Gosh! I hate to hear of your ordeal. I'm still praying for you.

I've had bison roast, and it does have too strong of a taste for me, but DS loves it. I think he likes moose burgers, too. At least, I think it's moose.

There’s an herbal product for high BP that I’ve used for years. Mukta Vati. Available on Amazon. I use the cheaper stuff.
I worked on the quilt for our church group today. I am NOT a good machine embroiderist lol! But it will be done before our next meeting on the 15th.

Then I made a run to Dollar tree for gifts for two events at church tomorrow and Monday. Still have a bit of a headache from getting knocked in the head yesterday so not doing a whole lot else but taking it easy. I have a bruise on my forehead and it’s sore as the dickens but I guess God made me hard headed for a reason lol.

I get to meet the girl ds has been dating tonight. She’s coming over later to watch movies. She’s from Brazil he said and is going back on the 11th for Christmas break, then will be going to Sweden for 6 months. She’s an exchange student and double majoring he said.
It’s cold and gray here this afternoon but at least the rain has stopped.

Dh had to work today so not sure what time he’ll be in but supper is going to be easy. Taco salad.

Please consider getting a gait belt. It really helps the person lifting you. I just returned the Posey brand belt we borrowed after my hip replacement from the senior center medical equipment free lending room. I was able to return the bedside commode, Walker, grabber tool and a cane. I also was able to donate two pairs almost brand new sheepskin Ugg boots. Dear husband bought them fir me, but they do not fit me.

I have two gait belts. It would not have been suitable in the situation I was in. Much quicker and easier to just grab my sons hand with my good hand.

Unfortunately that was the second time my leg or legs fail standing up from the toilet. Thank goodness it is one of the taller toilets. The one upstairs is one of the old low ones. I have trouble getting up from it on a good day. I may need to get a set of hand rails for the toilet and my wife will just have to put up with it.

DH is sick with what I think is probably the flu. He said when he was out Tuesday night, he had a new guy in the truck with him (on the job training) and he was hacking and sneezing the whole time. He's doing OK - just feels rough.

I'm glad the week is over. Just saw that the tree trimming guys were here to drop off a load of stuff, so I will let DH know when he is up and moving more. I'm upping my vitamin C and Elderberry till this gets past.

Unfortunately not everyone in the house is agreeable to the taller toilet. Since it is not my house, it's not my decision.
By all means get the handrails. They are easy to install, just take off the toilet seat, put rails in place, put seat back and bolt back together. I think $40 was price 15 years ago when I bought them for dh and believe me when I say they were worth every dollar.

We put in a walk-in shower, grab bars and higher toilet then added the toilet handrails later. I appreciate the higher toilet and absolutely use the grab bars getting into and out of the shower. Therapist also had us add handles between the storm door and inside door for dh to grab to help pull himself up the one step from the garage into the house. I had one handle replaced so my whole hand fits comfortable and lowered it and need to do the second one. I use it often when stepping down, not up so much.

Getting old and decrepit needs all the aids available!!

We are now under a weather advisory for snow from noon until midnight with 3 to 5 inches forecast. I sincerely hope this is not going to turn into a snow every weekend winter.

I felt like something was attacking me a few days ago...in the evening before bed...I felt lousy
I never wait to find outnwhat it might be..I act as quickly as possible
I took 2 droppers full of SBR nutrition..vit d3 + k2 in mct oil under my tongue
About 8 sprays of Source Naturals colloidal silver 30 ppm under my tongue
Chewed 12 mg ivermecton under tongue..
Right before going to bed.
Things are absorbed quickly under the tongue ...and act more quickly in your body
What ever it was ...was totally gone, dead, killed by morning...
My girlfriend and her DH..were sneezed and coughed on all during Thanksgiving...many there were sick during the several days they were there....they did the same ...as I did...neither got sick..it really seems to work ..not something we do often...I just don't have the time or the patience to be sick..

If you think you have a virus...a litte baking soda in water changes the pH of your body ...do it several times per day if you feel exposed..virus are very sensitive to pH

Thanksgiving was great. I was worn out when it was over. But thyroid issues will make you more tired. I told hubby I just needed to rest a day. But life happens. I thought we had a pretty easy week ahead of us. Saturday night our daughter texted me that the other grandparents were going out of town so they would not be able to keep the kids their 3 days. We did Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday our daughter took off. And Thursday we kept them again. Our daughter got off early, but had an appointment for her eye check up.

Wednesday hubby had to be at a hospital an hour away to get his eye lenses worked on. He has had cataract surgery a few years ago, but the new lenses are now cloudy. The dr just zapped it with a laser and it's clear again. They will do the other eye in a couple of weeks. Thursday he was checked by the eye dr in the local office. His vision is much better.

Hubby kept asking what I wanted for Christmas. I couldn't think of anything. But I was looking on Amazon at the cyber Monday deals and there was a stainless steel kitchen aide grain grinder on sale. I ordered it and told him he just did his shopping. I have a hand grinder. It works, but it's not a really good one. It takes a lot of work to make cornmeal and the flour was never very fine. I think this will be really helpful.

My ear is a little better. I have been using usnea tincture since the steroids ran out. It has helped more than the steroids did. My ear is still stopped up, but it's not as bad. My hearing is still not at 50% in that ear yet. I have to start more usnea tincture today.

We got all the downed trees cut into firewood lengths. We will bring our splitter to the pasture to split it. I will be glad to get that job done. I need to do some outside work, but I only have so much energy. My work usually gets put on the back burner. I still have my gardens to clean up. I would like to till and mulch some areas. I have onion sets to plant too. I will put some in my raised beds and some in the ground. In another month, I can start prunings the fruit trees.

We did have our first snow yesterday. Nothing stuck in our area, but it was pretty coming down.

Today I have to do laundry and some house cleaning. I would like to have just a day to do my things. We will see how it goes.

Have a blessed day everyone.
Oh how well I know about my own work being put on back burner! I am with you grabbing a piece of the day here and there to get me caught up! Plan on doing some baking today and finishing up decorations out side.

I used an old belt as a gait belt for Scot. I should have gotten the toilet seat riser.
They have them that can be lifted on and off without permanently fixing them.
I donated all of Scots old medical stuff to senior center too.
Got to do a coal run today. Then take grands to Christmas parade.
It's warming a little bit thank goodness.
Son on a 36.
I have a nice dinner for everyone, some gifts, and they will have to put up with the house. Too cold and dogs cycled in and out when it's too bad.
You do what you can.

A bit warmer, today. Supposed to be 48 degrees, and 36, tonight. It's a cloudy and dreary day, though. Possible rain, tomorrow.

I changed out the bedsheets this morning. I have those washing right now. Today is another bread baking day. Cary loved the bagel seasonings on the bread, so, I'm doing that, again, today. I'll be baking 2 loaves of white bread this time. Very simple. It's a no-knead bread. I want to bake an old fashioned coconut custard pie from my grandmother's recipe, too.

BP was down some this morning, after taking another BP pill last night. 144/85. It will take the pill a couple of days to get it back to normal. At least it's coming down. No headache this morning.

Glad to read that, SB!

Our winter advisory starts at noon, something like that. I arranged things so that I don't have to go anywhere today, plus I did extra steps yesterday. The storm track keeps changing, so we may end up with less than 2" of fluffy snow, which I can shovel myself.

I threw caution to the wind and got 1.2 pounds of beef stew, which is simmering away on the back burner. I will freeze what I'm not going to eat this weekend. I'll also cook several pork chops later and cut up the meat for stir fries. It's going to be really busy next week, so I'm trying to head off the temptation of stopping for the daily special at Hy-Vee on the way home. Their meals have been quite good lately: the chicken and noodles is delish! I usually cut the noodles portion in half, add cooked pork to it and reheat it the next day. Yes, they are cheaper to make at home. On the other hand, that shortcut is more affordable than a restaurant meal (plus tip).

That's about it for the moment. I've got laundry going. I'll get in more steps if I can motivate myself to clean, but I'll probably end up mending clothes and watching a movie.

Glad to read that, SB!

I wish I knew what caused it to go up in the first place. I've been sticking strictly to my eating plan that uses very little salt. Not really stressed out or anything like that, and I've been sleeping well. High BP runs really high in my dad's side of the family, though. Dad, along with all his brothers and his own dad had it.

I wish Cary liked beef stew. He had the flu one time. He ate some beef stew while he was sick, and it made him sick at his stomach. He hasn't cared for it, since. I like it. I would make some homemade, but not if I'm the only one eating it.

Forecast was for 3 to 5 inches of snow but it's coming down heavy and I'm pretty sure we've already reached 4" and it's to continue until midnight.

I woke up feeling crappy, headache, cough, sneezing. I think it's allergy not virus at least I hope so. Grandson has a bad cold and was not feeling best on Thanksgiving so maybe I caught his germs, time will tell. Prayers answered, he now has a full-time job starting the 12th.

Nothing much accomplished today. I do have a load in the washer so guess that counts as something! I forgot to take any meat out of the freezer so supper will be canned salmon or tuna or fish sticks. Not very inspiring either way.

It's snowing fairly hard here, too, but it's really fluffy and would be good for x-country skiing. There's a park not far from me with x-country ski trails, plus they rent the equipment. I generally forget about it because a lot of our snow is wet and heavy with an ice base.

I'm not sure if my pedometer would work skiing, but I could figure out how far I've gone and log it that way, miles or portions of miles.

It is fun when the conditions are good. Unfortunately, we get a lot of freezing/thawing which makes ice. I had boots/poles/skis in college, a used set for something like $25. I gave those away when I moved to Ohio. I think I went skiing about 3 - 4 times in Ohio -- I rented equipment. The conditions were awful.

I haven't been at all since I've been out here, but I'd like to get back into it. Yes, it can be rough on really cold days. Today wouldn't be bad.

Park City, UT is the best area for powder snow! Back before flying got too horrible, I used to go out near Christmas to x-country ski and do research at the big LDS genealogy library in SLC. That was always a good time!

Well, everything got done, today, except the coconut pie. I baked more loaves of bread than I anticipated. 4 loaves, instead of two. All wrapped good and in the freezer. Cary ate the last 2 slices of the honey wheat, tonight. Now, I have 1 1/2 sourdough loaves, and 4 white bread loaves in the freezer. Once I thaw a loaf out, I go ahead and slice it so that I can just pull out enough slices for Cary's meal, then put it back in the freezer. I thaw it just enough to be able to pull the slices apart. He can have a different bread each night doing it that way. The thawing and refreezing doesn't seem to hurt it any.

I'll be able to start the new weekly thread, tomorrow, unless, someone beats me to it. No home fellowship, so I'll have plenty of time tomorrow morning.

Visited mom today. She looks good and is happy but her memory span was down to about a minute. Still knows us and still tells DH to be good all day but gets a kick out of refusing to tell me to be good. The new facility director is a godsend. Place is cleaner, lots more activities and regular worship services. It is very sad to see the decline in those we have come to know in the memory unit.

Was supposed to be in KC already but furnace won't be fixed til Mon am. Will head out as soon as it is fixed. Our weather reports are new and different every day.

Grands custody case went very well. Bio dad made his entire clan of unruly relatives stay home. (Judge always has to threaten his grandmother.) I was working but watching my phone for the outcome. Everyone was civil and outcome was all we hoped for.

DGS was allowed to send a quick text from bootcamp.

Laundry done. Bags pretty much packed. Giving perishables to Grand. Few last minute things to do then good to go.

Had a good day. Manage to run errands for about 3 hours. Son was in heaven because he got to stay with friend for that whole time. He's been wanting that since we had to pitstop there Thanksgiving evening and wait for a tow truck.

Got home. Got everything unloaded. Got lunch made. And then absolutely and fully crashed hard. Guess I over did it. But it was so nice.

Oh, and headlights work again. Started working as I pulled out of friend's driveway.

Started a new supplement. Surprising results. And somewhat mixed. Supplement is working. But in working, I'm also realizing just how deeply I had crashed in energy and how much my body has been masking. It's not going to be easy or quick but I may actually make it out of the hole by spring.

And I, who has always run hot and couldn't wear layers without overheating, now runs cold and must wear layers. It's taking a bit of adjustment.

And I just got ding dong ditched. Made me laugh.
