That time of the week again.
This week I have smoked ham and also on a different day smoked fish.
Canned salsa, sweet and sour sauce as well as just tomatoes.
Put plastic around the bottom part of all the rabbit pens. And put it over the windows on the chicken coop.

I am cleaning up after yesterdays Thanksgiving celebration(we had to do ours early).Almost all the out of town guests left this am. Only our son and DIL remain.Today we cut down a dying tree so it wouldn't fall on the house during a winter storm. It was great to have 2 extra people to help. Didn't take us long to cut it down and cut and split it for the wood pile.

I also forgot we have also been cooking the pumpkins this week. And today we went to town for some other stuff and since we spent $25 we got a turkey for 38 cents a pound. Not the best deal I have ever had but the best this year around here. So got a nice 20 pound bird.

I bought the big packs of Viva paper towels that are on sale at Rite Aid. They are my favorite brand. I can reuse them a couple of times before they wear out or are too dirty. Also bought some lamp oil, and found some cotton rope type stuff in the sewing section of Walmart that can be used for wicks in the Tiki Torches. Tonight I made 10 quarts of grape juice. As soon as it gets cold enough outside, we are going to empty out the freezer and defrost it. I'm trying to use up as many of the grapes and berries as I can so they don't thaw out and get ruined.

DDIL and I managed to get two cartons (four six-packs of Vivas at $5.99 per six pack. That's cheap for up here. They were on sale with coupon. Nothing left on shelf, but DDIL spotted the cartons on top of the shelf. Whee.

Have been using what few coupons we get here (no doubling eitherj) from Fred Meyer and Safeway. Only two grocery stores here. Got butter, bacon, and a few household items which we needed.

BTW, has anyone noticed the cans of cranberry sauce is now 14 ounces instead of 16ounces. I still have a couple of cans left over from the last couple of years, and they have reduced the size of the can. But of course, not the price. Amazing.

patb-can you use internet coupons at the stores up there? If so coupons.com has some good ones.Plus, different zipcodes have different numbers of coupons. Just type in any zip you want.Plus, smartsource and redplum. All 3 sites are free. And no personal info is asked for.(you can join coupons.com but it isn't necessary to print coupons)

Have you read the ingredient label on Gold Medal flour? It contains wheat, and now barley . I was surprised . When did they start doing that?

Ordered some more silver.
Purchased door seals at Wal Mart. Set of 2 for $15. The ones they advertise on the tv that slips under the door to block air from entering or exiting.
More flour, sugar, coffee, canned goods.
Cut up and froze green peppers from the garden.
Got most of the Christmas shopping done.

We got a turkey last week for .39 a lb with a 10.00 purchase. They also had Blue Bell icecream for 3/12.00. It's normaly about 6.00 a half gallon. So far it's still a full 1/2 gallon.

I ran some errands today and one thing on the list was to get more pint canning jars. I found a case at the local hardware store. I mentioned to the cashier that I was going to can some leftover turkey today. The cashier said that she'd been canning meats because you need to be ready for whatever is coming that doesn't look good. So it's apparently not just us here who are uncomfortable about the future.

Canning is in process.
