Good Morning, All!

Remembering our Veterans who gave their lives in service to our country this Monday...

It has been a busy work weekend, the unit has been full, and the beds barely have time to cool after a discharge by the time another admission is crawling in to them. Keeps us hopping for sure!

Hubby has had an unsupervised two days off, with today being a third one - he managed to do more planting in the gardens, cut up and marinated beef and chicken and grilled it shish-kebab style, cut up melons and put them to chill in the fridge, and did some outside work as well - I'm beginning to think that I need to leave him unsupervised more often  With rain threatening each day of the weekend, we've only had a couple of brief showers; I'm not holding out much hope for the same on my three days off which start tomorrow though. So much I want to do - so little time! Not that I don't have plenty of inside work to do - it's just not as much fun!

Darn - my 'warning bell' - the last alarm I set for work lol! - is blaring; guess that means I'd better get up and get moving. Take care all; have a safe and blessed weekend!

Last time DH was left unsupervised, he cleaned the house! I am so thankful!

Got the last of the vining crops planted today with the help of a friend. We have most of the water lines run, but when I ran to town for more stakes - the hardware store was closed.

Started a new diet yesterday - an anti-inflammation one. It lasts 21 days, so get ready for the complaints! As part of my herbalism, I may suggest to clients to try it and I guess I think if I advocate for someone to do something, I should do it myself. So far, so good.... but we'll see.

I picked up some Imodium. There was a thread on the board about idiots using it to get high and overdosing on it. I don't know if it will become a controlled substance but figured better safe than sorry. It is a drug I'd rather have and not need than need and not have. Cheap insurance. I didn't buy a case of it, just one box.

We spent almost three days without electricity and phone service. IF tshtf I'm not sure how I will cope, and we have a generator and could go 30 miles to get a hot meal and walmart. All back to normal and I'm calming down, I'm very blessed.

Found out I'm probably having to deal with adrenal issues......STRESSED TO MAX NOW........what would it be like in real tshtf situation?? I believe we'll see Jesus' prediction of people fainting/dying from fear (stressed to death). Will try to deal with this and leave DR's out for now......more to juggle with our health issues...........SIGH NOW

Stocked up on coffee recently but now trying to cut down, so I guess stock will stretch just a bit further......

We have had wonderful weather this week, and I have been able to get a lot of work done outside - though, given that I just took a photo of a large doe meandering through my orchard, I'm not sure the garden work will pay benefits... Reckon I can always eat from the garden second hand by eating her  A cousin is supposed to be down this evening to work up and plant the wildlife plots, so maybe they will take a little pressure off the gardens once they are up. In the meantime, I'm going to send the grandsons out to pee around the gardens every time they are here - they will hate that... NOT!! They are such ornery boys  I'm also looking forward to some help getting the garden weeding and lawn mowing done as granddaughter got on the cheerleading squad again - and just got the list of what it will cost for uniforms, camp, etc... so now she and the other girls are all looking for work :)

It's been a slow day off - and I am grateful as work has been a bear lately! So I am taking a break today - went in to town to the bank this morning and since it was town-wide rummage sale weekend, I hit a few of them - I found two with lemonade and homemade cookie stands :) Oh, and I found some clothes for the grandsons, too! I will have plenty of time to work around the yard/gardens tomorrow as Hubby will be off to an IDPA shoot and the kids and grandkids are headed to Indy to the zoo (I was holding out for Holiday World, darn it - coulda gotten out of work two days in a row!) (Although considering that I would have been in charge of the little grandson since he is too short for the big rides, maybe not!)

A bit later today I'm going to younger grandson's T-ball game; I will stop by the Legion Hall on the way as they are having a benefit dinner for a lady in town who has cancer. They are serving burgers and bratwurst, plus desserts - I ran into a neighbor lady in the store buying strawberries for a strawberry pie to donate so I plan to get there early!

Off to nap on the glider on the porch - sunshine, fresh air, hummingbirds buzzing around the feeders...Life is GOOD!

We've had rain consistently for a week. I used this time to can 12 pints of butter, make various cookie, cake, brownie, frappe' mixes and today I hope to get the cheddar cheese canned. It finally quit raining a while and I spent some time outside in my first garden bed getting it cleared and cleaned and ready for planting. I know it's terribly late here in the south but life simply got in the way. I also picked up a case of yeast today with an expiration in late 2019 in addition to more borax, and washing soda for the house as well as Gypsum, Epsom Salt and Fertilizer for the garden.

ejagno... FWIW, I've stored the 1# "bricks" of yeast from Sam's Club in our freezer for years. One got lost... I used it this winter. It was SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD!!! And it worked fine! (yep, Y2k yeast!)

Obviously, once the power goes off, it will be a different story. But I'll cross that bridge when (if) I come to it.
