It's been on my list for quite a while to go thru and organize all the legal/insurance paperwork filed in the safe. Since DH died, lots of it is no longer valid/necessary.

Today I did that!

Next week I have an appointment with a local lawyer to get a new POA. In mid June my step-daughter, SIL and 3 granddaughters are coming for a week's visit and it'll be peace of mind to be able to give step-daughter copies of what she'll need one of these days and to show her where/how all the legal stuff is filed and organized in the safe.

I'm looking to buy a few more cans of Del Monte zucchini. The are 1.36 at walmart for one can and 26.47 for 6 cans on amazon. We are going to be royally screwed it our only option is amazon.

Black beans, I want more canned black beans. Dollar General has their brand of Clover Valley with smooth tops for approximately 1.00, Walmart has Bush's black beans with a smooth top for 1.00. Walmart has other brands cheaper but cans all have to pop tops. However, amazon has the Bush's black beans 12 for 9.77 with free shipping. Amazon has other brands for more money.

I haven't inventoried my chick peas yet, but I may get more of them. I like chick peas, but DH does not. My second husband who is from Boston turned me onto them, I'd never heard of them before. I doubt they are a staple in southern pantries. Hot dogs are only going up in price, but walmart still has the BarS brand for .98. I'm not picky about the brand of hot dogs, I think they are all garbage nutritionally. We don't eat them, but I like to keep several packages in the freezer.

We are having hot dogs, baked beans and corn bread for supper. I like to doctor my canned baked beans up with molasses, I may toss in some onions or not. Seems like I've been baking corn bread about once a week lately, its something that Dh likes since I've perfected it to the way DH likes it. I use a 4" woopie pan and it gets nice and brown on each side. I like it too, but I limit the amount I eat.

I had some aging grape tomatoes in the fridge so I sauteed them in butter and scrambled 4 eggs in them. I like tomatoes in eggs. That's another thing the DH would starve before he ate them.

God is good all the time.

We don't eat black beans, but love Bush's baked beans. You can get both by the case at Sam's. Bush's baked beans were on sale, yesterday. Regular price for a case is $8.97. On sale, they were $7.97. 8 cans per case. I like buying by the case, because they are so easy to stack on the shelves or floor. If I hadn't been in the store, yesterday, I would have ordered them. We have free shipping. No pop top lids, either. Me, personally, I would pay a bit more at Sam's than I would buying anything from Amazon even if Amazon were cheaper.

You might check Target too. Sometimes I find stuff on their online site when I can't on Amazon or Walmart.

Thanks Judy. I have some grape tomatoes that I need to use so think I will try tomatoes in eggs.
I also like spinach in scrambled eggs. Good thing we have a lot of eggs.

Sheree: I get the Hanover brand of baked beans, its a large can for 1.00 from Dollar Tree. I let my sam's card expire the year before the pandemic. The only thing I get at Sams is Perrier mineral water in the glass bottles, and my friend gets them there for me. That;s the only thing I buy that Nestle owns and I just have not been able to give it up. Although
Topo Chico in the glass bottles is very good and I can get that at walmart. I've been boycotting Nestle for a good while because they have been trying to buy up the worlds water sources.

Good morning, Everyone!

At 7:54 am, it's already a balmy 69 degrees with the humidity at 82%. High for today will be 87 with sunny skies.

Big outdoors day planned for today. Cary is about to leave to go to DS's house. Cary is going to be (watching more than anything) DS cut up more firewood. Cary can handle to smaller stuff, but his weight limit will hinder him doing much else.

I've got more laundry to do,but most of my chores will be indoors, until this afternoon. Mopping floors and dusting. I also want to make a cake for our home fellowship/Bible study, tomorrow. Chocolate cake with butter cream frosting.

Got the grill out and cleaned, so we'll be grilling for our supper tonight. Pulled a bag of boneless chicken breasts from the freezer. Will have them marinating all day in Zesty Italian dressing from the pantry. I'm going to have, heated on the grill, Bush's baked beans (pantry), potato salad (using mayo, mustard, and bacon bits from the pantry). Potatoes, onions, and eggs are fresh, and toasted garlic bread (toasted on the grill). Bread is store bought.

During the summer months, I do most of my cooking on the grill or in my crockpot. We also eat a lot of sandwiches and salads. Saves on our electric bill, and keeps from heating up the house causing us to have to turn on the a/c.

Pantry List

Italian dressing
chicken breasts
mayo
mustard
bacon bits
baked beans

I. Am. Whupped.

I was puttering around the house this morning with no real plans plans besides doing some weeding the flower beds and getting some laundry done since the garden is still sink-in-up-to-your-ankles wet... And then I got a video from daughter of the boys yelling at each other, followed by a text that said - "Just one; please take just one of them..." When I got there to rescue her, I tried to convince her that the grand-dog should count as the 'one' but ended up with the youngest boy instead. We hit the Evil Empire for some fruit and a couple of things for daughter; when we got back to her house, she was working with the older one on putting together the push mower she bought; he's darn near as big as me, so I guess he's big enough to mow the lawn.

Of course, laundry and weeding flower beds got pushed to the back burner once we got home because first we had to set up the water balloon launcher and play with it (I will be taking Ibuprofen before bed - but I guess it will get me ready for putting in the bean posts lol!) Then he wanted to wash my van to earn some money; and then he had to drive the buggy around the farm because I'd pointed out some blooming honey locust trees from the road as we were coming home, so he wanted to see the thorns close up. We did that; then I pointed out regular locust trees, showed him sassafras leaves again; and he told me which way to turn to get to the persimmon trees - we didn't see any baby persimmons, but we only slowed down instead of stopping. I did manage to get a couple of loads of laundry washed and one hung out to dry, one small section of flower bed weeded and mulched, plus some weeding done in my raised strawberry bed - I guess that is enough work for one day.

Well, I have to go put my tools away; then I'm going to grab a shower and get ready to take the short dude into Dollar General - his car washing money is burning a hole in his pocket, but I did make him put 20% in his pig bank - after making sure I paid him with the correct change so he could do so (sneaky Granny  )

Take care all; have a great evening!

Worked out in the garden a bit at a time. My shortness of breath is not improving - every time I get ready to stop the prednisone, it starts up again. This time I WILL power thru - can't stay on steroids forever. DH and I did get water to the back garden, I replanted melons and squash as we had a sprinkler malfunction. I am also going to plant a couple more rows of broccoli since it's looking puny.

Had a client stop by for a formula - her DH may want to take it as well!

My neck of the woods is HOT today! This is the time of year that is hard for me. Still adding to the garden but produce needs to be picked and processed! And that usually falls on me! Hubby is a good picker and sous chef but it is up to me to put it into the schedule and to get all the tools needed together! Strawberries are coming out of our ears which is a good thing. Just finished the last jar of 2020's strawberry jelly so the timing is perfect. Blackberries are just beginning to turn black so they will be next on the list to process. Raspberries are ripening but we don't have enough of those yet to do anything with them except eat them! Shelled a dishpan of garden peas which is always fun as I LOVE to shell! Have a great Sunday!
