Good Morning, All! Thanks for all the ideas that were posted for using cookie tins last week; I appreciate the input! I really appreciate all of you folks that post to the thread :spns:

It's another work weekend, so I have to hit the road in a few - just wanted to point out a post on Main that is interesting; it's called "Time to get your mind right". I just had time to make a quick scan of it, but it may be useful for some.

Take care, all; stay safe out there!

Always a good idea to keep prepping, and listen to the advice of others. I was part of the snowpocolyse this last week. Folks, if you are on oxygen - HAVE A BACKUP SOURCE OF ENERGY. One of the fatalities of the storm was a woman who ran out. she was on such a high flow that even storing canisters would not have helped. If you don't have a backup, go to the ER before it gets so bad you cannot get out. Please. Just do it. If you're told to stay off the roads, do. If you are traveling out of state, be aware of where you are going, how to get there, and listen to the weather for that area. End of rant.

Working on my last big project for school. I graduate in May, so if any of y'all need a certified clinical herbalist - look me up. I was putting together taxes last week, and discovered between September and December, I drove 3800+ miles just for school. I will be so glad when I'm done, I may not leave the house for a month!!

Stay safe, stay involved. What the democrats have done to Colorado, they are planning on doing to your state. We haven't decided if we will stand and fight or look at moving. I'll admit I"m a tad jealous of my friend that is on her way to Wyoming... In the meantime, I'm doing what little I can to help with the situation. Prep on, good friends, prep on.

Always a good idea to keep prepping.

My wife uses a lot of Chicken Broth in her cooking we found a place that has freeze-dried Chicken Broth Concentrate so we placed a order today to give it a try.

We ordered from Packit Gourmet (https://www.packitgourmet.com/Savory-Choice-Chicken-Broth-Concentrate.html)

All our freeze dried long time storage food comes from Honeyville Inc (https://honeyville.com/) we believe them to be the best out there.

Agree. I was born into a prepping family, so it comes natural for me. But, as DH and I have got older, we can't seem to be able to garden as much as we once did to meet our needs. We are turning more and more to store bought items and long term Mountain House food storage items. Health issues are keeping us from even considering gardening this Spring. Maybe a few tomato plants, but that's it.

We don't have a very good farmer's type of market here in our area. We would have to travel a good ways to find a decent one, but I would love to be able to buy veggies by the bushel and can them. In our gardening days, we always had bushels to can from our own gardens. Just can't do that anymore.

Yes, we have several #10 cans of Honeyville products. I love their potato flakes and diced potatoes. Makes great hash browns and mashed potatoes! We have their dehydrated whole eggs, but have never used any of them, along with dried fruits. Love the banana chips!

what I always encourage to the young gardeners - trying to start and have a garden - and they have no or limited gardening property >>>> see if they can spot an established garden that's not being used anymore or under used - check out the situation and see if a tenant gardening arrangement can be worked out - someone like yourself would have gardening wisdom to share and maybe some tools/equipment ...

Thanks for the tip on Honeyville, Old Reliable - I will check them out. Most of my long term stuff has come from Augason Farms; I find it to be satisfactory.

Our two local farmer's markets are more for 'Foodies' than for bargain shoppers - though I can't complain about getting local grown rather than shipped in. Having a rotating shift schedule often makes it difficult to go. I can still wrangle the old Troy-Bilt Horse around the garden, but I tire easier than I used to. I may flip one of my gardens over to perennial food crops and go with heavy mulch...

Moldy, the Dims have already done for my state. If the family hadn't been here since the 1840's, we would probably be looking elsewhere. Cousins in KY and MO like their states; and daughter would probably pack up and head for MT/WY border area in a heartbeat if she wouldn't lose her built in baby-sitter

Oh, we tried that approach last year. We are very rural, and we are the only ones to have any type of garden in our AO. People in our area just don't have gardens anymore. While our gardens were in full operation, people wanted what we produced. Now, when asked if they would like to use our gardens for themselves, they don't want to. It was fine with them to take our produce as long as they didn't have to do any of the work.

We love Honeyville Ova Easy Egg Crystals (https://shop.honeyville.com/ova-easy-whole-egg-crystals.html).

These eggs are great

Thanks for the info! We have a case of the powdered whole eggs from Honeyville. We haven't tried them yet. I wonder what, if any, difference would be in these and the ones you have? A close friend of ours, who doesn't live very far from us, brings us fresh eggs on a weekly basis. We have the long term storage eggs for if or when we can't get those from him. He loves his chickens, LOL!

The kitten ate my last pair of heavy winter gloves and I finally found a new pair at the auto parts store, of all places. Everyone had lightweight gloves but no thick warm ones. I guess I will see in tomorrow mornings 20 degree weather just how warm they are. My car keeps breaking, it was in the shop for a week this time. I dread the bill. Did my regular grocery run and Walmart was wiped out. Managed to get everything on my list except cat food and vinegar.

we bought Ova Egg Crystals from Honeyville several years ago...…..at that time two large cans were about $65.....they are considerably more expensive today...we would buy more but storage is a problem and our health has deteriorated...so priorities shift

there's tons of those people around - real gardening isn't for everyone - you just might not have the correct mix in your area for having someone come in - and you need the right person toooo boot ....
