Same here with my hair. I even wake myself up at night with my hair wrapped around my neck. I've got to get something done to it soon. Before long, I'm going to be sitting on it.
I've been letting mine get longer, I wear it in a pony tail and just leave the hair tie in it at night which keeps it from crawling around my neck. The hair cutter cut more off than I wanted and cut my bangs too short when I asked her not too and tried combing them down when I wanted them back. I raked them back with my fingers, they looked awful, kinda like a big turd sitting on my forehead.

I don't wear bangs anymore. Too much to fuss with. It's parted on the side, swept behind my ears, and hangs to my waist straight as a board.

I had let my bangs grow out but my hair line is getting thinner, so I thought bangs might help with that but she cut them too short. I like my hair parted off center, with a bang on each side and she kept combing them all to one side and I finally stopped her and parted them the way I will wear them and she didn't even get my hair completely dry. My hair is curly.

If I could look that good, I do it in a hot New York minute! But, alas...

Yes, my hair wraps around my neck too and gets in my face when I turn over in bed. My hair is thick, poker straight about a third way down my back. I usually keep it cut all one length to my shoulders and clip the top and sides back because I can’t stand it to touch my face.

Tis two days after Saint Patty's Day and time for prepping. Stopped at the store to see if the fresh vacuum sealed corn beef was on sale. It wasn't but I got a package to tuck in the freezer.

Notice the price of Sure Jell has doubled since about this time last year. Hyperinflation? You betcha!

I got 9 inches of hair cut off yesterday. I'm so happy!
We are getting our list of materials done for my greenhouse, that's what my stimulus is going for. The rest will saved.
Started the next Walmart list.
Started some seeds, replanted some pepper seedlings, they are in the bay window. Planted 3 varieties of greens outside. Potatoes and onions will go in tomorrow.

I was just thinking that it's time to cut my hair again, and daughter's hair, too. I do cut my own -- bangs are easy as long as I have a mirror, and since I wear my hair up in a bun most of the time it doesn't matter if the back hair is a little bit hacked because normally the ends don't show. I also hate to have hair touching my face -- when I'm watching videos (farm/gardening videos mostly) it distracts me when the lady in front of the camera has long hair getting in her face, because I'm sitting here thinking, "How can she stand to have her hair in her face like that!" LOL! Also, one lady (Pioneer Nurse?) is constantly flipping her hair, and I just want to smack her hands, LOL! I don't watch her videos because of that.

I can’t stand to see it either! My 2 yr old granddaughters hair stays down over her eyes and it drives me crazy, I’m constantly swiping my hand over my own forehead like it’s going to help LOL! My daughter refuses to trim her hair and uses bows and tiny hair bands but they don’t stay in all that well because her hair is so fine.

It's hard to keep a toddler's fine short hair under control, but I'm like you -- I would want it trimmed! Poor baby!

One of my great grandmothers on Mom's side of the family refused to cut her hair. She lived over in the Delta part of MS next to the MS River. She would come to visit my grandparents for weeks at a time. Every morning, she would take her hair down out of the bun she wore it in, and brush it out. As a child, I was always fascinated by how long her hair was. Even more amazed as I watched her twist and wound it back into her bun. I'd never seen a woman whose hair was as long as hers. It came down to her knees.

Haircuts - Aaaargh!! My hair has become 'layered' thanks to the thin elastic bands on the masks that are provided at work; they cut right through hair. I don't like getting haircuts as it then takes at least a week or two before I figure out how to manage my hair again - if I have patience enough to even try. I think back to my teen years when 'styling my hair' meant brushing my hair across the ironing board and ironing it straight with an actual iron, while trying not to singe the tips of my ears... things were easier back then

OGM, thanks for the reminder to check for on sale corned beef briskets - it cans up well and is great to have on hand for hash.

I cut some of that Creeping Charlie earlier in the week and let it dry; tried making a cup of tea out of it this morning since Hiwall and others convinced me that it was a good thing rather than the demon spawn that was trying to take over the world that I was convinced it was... Let's just say that it will likely be an acquired taste. And I'm gonna take my time acquiring it  And since it doesn't have any caffiene, I think I'm gonna stick with coffee this morning...

And speaking of coffee, I'm lollygagging over my mine while writing out a to-do list. I know - I'm getting late start on it. I took a nap after I got home from work/pool/lunch with pals yesterday, so I was up way later than I should have been, and barely woke up when Hubby came in to tell me he was leaving.

Hubby is off to his first shooting match since November, and I haven't heard from daughter - it's still too early to call her since I think the boys went to sleepovers last night. I'm not sure if the grandsons will be out today or even this weekend as yet - it does look like it would be a great weekend for riding dirt bikes; and there are even still a few muddy spots the little one can ride through, since he seems to enjoy that. Hubby swapped out the manual shift on older grandson's bike for an auto one a few weeks ago and grandson hasn't tried it out yet. I need to familiarize myself with the change, just in case it ends up being my bug-out bike. The older one has had another growth spurt and lacks just a an inch or so to match my height; Papaw might need to start looking for a deal on a larger bike for him soon...

Menards has plastic shelving units on a sale/rebate deal - I'm not much of a fan of Menards, but I'm wanting to get my pantry more organized - right now it has a mish-mash of assorted shelves. I was thinking about having the carpenter come out and build me some shelves, but I may have to turn that room back in to a bedroom some day so don't really want built-ins. I want shelves of a height that I can get things off the top shelf without a step-stool as using step stools or ladders is up near the top of the list of things that cause falls for old folks, and I have a nasty tendency to break when I fall. I may go to Rural King to look at shelves instead, and if their prices are close I will get the shelves there instead since it is Church Week March 14-27 - they will donate 10% of of the actual cost of items (sans tax) to a registered Christian organization of your choice. I like the plastic shelves as they are light enough for me to put together (love my rubber mallet!) and move on my own - and since I'm so darn short, I figure I get a bargain when I buy 4 - 5 shelf/72" tall units - I turn them in to 5 - 4 shelf units that are 60" tall instead lol!

Dollar General has a few sales I'm going to take advantage of today - I've got the usual $5 off $25 Saturday coupon, plus there are several laundry detergent coupons that I plan to take advantage of for daughter. I'll also pick up some Easter basket goodies since Easter Sunday is just a couple of weekends away.

Well, I just heard the washer kick off so it's time to take the towels out and put my work clothes in - sun is shining and there is a nice breeze so things should dry quickly on the line. I need to do some housework but it looks like the boys and dog will be here sometime this weekend, so no sense sweeping or mopping - that can wait until Monday.

You folks all take care out there - stay safe, and have a great weekend!

Finally felt sort of used to DST. I managed to get two loads of laundry done and put away. I've got blankets in now. Those will be hung outside for the rest of the day to dry. I started a meatloaf for dinner: it'll be ready soon. I'll grab a slice for lunch and tuck it into a sandwich. Once the blankets are hung up, I'm going to hit the trails for a long walk and picnic lunch and then visit the library: my books are in!

It's a good day. I've been dragging around all week with the dang time change, but I finally have a little energy today.

Does anyone here buy or store canned Tamales? I'm looking for other canned meat options, and since I've never eaten any tamales out of a can, I was wondering about them. What brand is best? I don't think I'd like to just eat them straight out of the can, and was looking for recipes you might use them for?

Yes, and they taste okay, plus I've also added other Chef Boyardee options, spaghetti and meat balls, mac n cheese (one can is plenty for two people), beefaroni, etc. I had the lasayna the other day, there was a lot of gravy but not much noodles, would definitely need more noodles, but tasty enough.

so I went to make corn bread last night from a jiffy mix, the whole 6 pack was infested, went to the chickens. The next 6 pack seems okay, going into pint jars.

I think it's Barry that loves tamales. I think he buys the Hormel brand. I inhaled the things when I was a kid, but now I can't stand them. Maybe you could try a couple cans of different brands and and see which one you like.

I think I'll pick up a couple of cans when I go shopping just to try. I remember my sister using them to make a Mexican dish using them with cans of chili, and cheddar cheese, don't know what else she added. I never tasted the dish for myself, though, and can't ask her about it now. Her and her DH loved it.

I want to continue to diversify my meat options for storage. Cary doesn't like the sauce in all the Chef Boyardee products so, I can't use those. He doesn't like beef stew from a can, either. I know there's other options out there if Cary would just eat them. He loves Mexican food, and that's why I thought about trying the tamales.

Your sister's mexican dish sounds interesting. I'm not that crazing about the sauce in some of the chef boyardee products and have wondered how it could be doctored up.

Dh used to like the canned beef stew, but now not so much. Its looks disgusting to me, and i have a year's worth. Another thing I'd like to figure out how to make better.

Dh sometimes takes a can of the Aldi beef stew, and adds more potatoes (neither of us like carrots) and a pack of stew beef. and lets it cook in the slow cooker. We eat it over mashed potatoes and it's not bad. I don't really like the canned beef stew either, I buy it mostly to give the chickens something warm to eat when it's so cold outside.

Cary used to love Dinty Moore's Beef Stew, until he got sick off of it, once, when he had the Flu. Now, he won't go near it! To me, it smells like cat food. Not something I would want to eat, either. He's not a fish eater, except for tuna. So, sardines and salmon are out. Oh well, maybe I can come up with something.

Suggestions are always welcome!

Amongst all the other chores and errands lol, took boys to library. Donated extra movie to library. It's titled Something in the woods.
It's pretty good.
Now today, took those 3 boys back out to the woods. Warm dry and no snow. They had a blast. Then went and got a bite to eat.
Neighbor's boy has a birthday so got him big bag of hike gear. He was over the moon lol.
Tomorrow we are going back to the woods with our hike group. Hopefully they have learned a few things from lessons and show up somewhat prepared. It's not a hard hike. Just enough to get them introduced to it.
Coffee break right now. Finishing up the last 5 loads of laundry

I have about 52 cans of beef stew, I know if we get desperate for dog food she will eat it. Fortunately DH still likes the canned chili I have on hand, he had it last night with corn bread. DH might eat the beef stew if I had corn bread with it.

DH likes salmon croquettes and he also likes sardines in mustard sauce. I use to like sardines but have developed a distaste for them.

I don't know what other canned protein to suggest. I've gotten cans of ground beef in commodities and used a can recently and DH would not eat more than one bit, the dog loved it, she's getting fat. However, the keystone ground beef tastes just like regular fresh cooked ground beef. Its gotten really pricey.

I used to love Dinty Moore's Beef Stew to, until I stored cans in an unheated garage over winter. I got so sick from eating it I never wanted to get near another can. The can looked fine, not bulging or rusted.

SB have you tried pressure canning beef, turkey or chicken? If I can do it, it can't be that hard. Frozen turkeys can usually be found cheap, really cheap if the best by date is getting close.

I've got a lot of canned meats already. I'm always looking to add to the variety I have. Beside trying the tamales, I'm at a loss as to what else to try. I've got tuna, chili, chicken noodle soup, keystone ground beef, chicken, Spam, smoked ham, DAK hams, bbq pulled pork, and roast beef. The corn beef hash I'm saving for dog food. That stuff tastes nasty. Dog loves it, though.

No, I've never tried to pressure can anything on my own. I'm scared to death of a pressure canner. It's PTSD from having pressure canners blow up, twice while canning deer stew with my mom. That little "jiggler" thing on top of the canner just gives me the willies every time I hear one. I've tried watching learning videos, but I just can't do it.

I had my pressure canner for years before I worked up the courage to bring it up to pressure. My canner is of newer design and has a safety plug that blows out if the pressure inside becomes too high. I'd not want to be standing directly over it if it blows.

I also keep an oven mitt and thin wire or piece of broom straw handy if the hole under the "jiggler" should clog up. Hopefully the wire would clear the clog. The oven mitt is there to protect my hand from the steam if I have to do it.

We like the hormel tamales with crushed crackers or fritos and some salsa. I have added beans to Hormel chili plus cumin, dried onions and some ketchup to doctor it up. It was passable and it filled the holler. Served with fritos and some cheddar.

I eat Dinty Moore's Beef Stew because it is apparently Gluten-free as causes me no problems. I eat a can every week or two.
Shopped in our local town today but did not buy much of anything other than normal-use items.

It’s been many years since I’ve had a canned tamale but I don’t think they had much meat in them.

If you don’t like corned beef hash, try roast beef hash, I like them both. I get it started warming in a skillet then once it starts giving up some of the grease, I put a paper towel over it to soak up some it, then turn a few times and let it crisp up to suit your preference. A lot of folks like it with eggs but I just have it as is.

I use to eat corned beef hash straight out of the can, lost my taste for it at all. I've seen where people slice it and fry, that might be good.

The corned beef hash I have is in a round can. It's a Save-A -Lot brand. When you open it, it looks like dog food. It's not in a form that I can slice and fry. No matter how long I cook it in a skillet, it doesn't get brown. Just turns into a greasy mush. I've never tried the brand that you can slice and fry like Spam. Also, I don't think I've ever seen roast beef hash.

Now they do have plain corned beef in a can similar to Spam that you can slice and fry. The hash has the meat and tiny dices of potatoes and does look similar to dog food LOL. I’m sure you could cut both ends of the can open and push the hash out in “rounds” to slice off and fry, I’ve never tried that. The only way I’ve been able to crisp it up is like I said above to soak off some of the grease with a paper towel.
