It didn't get so hot today, which was nice. Last couple of days I've been cleaning in the kitchen, my bad, but I'd also let the dishes pile up. Nothing dirty left, stove is gleaming and the cabinets that don't have anything on them are gleaming also. Nice feeling.

Dh wants chinese for his fathers day dinner, I think we will go Saturday afternoon, it shouldn't be too crowded.

I've also been working on the laundry too. Every time I have several loads I swear that I won't let it get that way again but I always do. I think its a mental block because for many years off and on I had to go the a laundry mat and I was never going to spend my money like that on small loads. Part of the reason I have so much trouble getting everything folded and put away. I may be too old to change. I just pray that when the power goes out I won't have a bunch of dirty clothes.

Still no vertigo, and still having a couple of tablespoons of our honey every morning. I just generally feel better.

God is good all the time

DH's helper finished the flooring on the front deck. It doesn't look like it would if DH had done it, but what the heck she's so proud of herself. And does it really matter if it looks perfect. Almost no one comes around here anyway.

This girl has had a horrible life, Her adoptive mother's FIL started molesting her and her twin sister when they were 7. That old POS should be shot and worse. The adoptive mother knew he was doing it and she did nothing about it. This woman is an evil evil person. So if we can do something to make this girl feel good about herself, I call that a good thing. DH is putting one of the motors he got for bicycles on her bike, she's so excited.

I'm kind of in a fog this morning, I'm not dizzy, just kind of foggy and feel like a headache coming on. I've had my delish honey already. I probably need more coffee and more water.

Its a little less hot out there this morning. I've been watching the time the sunsets, right now its 8:21, I'm expecting the day its officially summer, that it will start inching up to setting earlier and earlier.

God is good all the time

Nothing going on here, today. So, Mom wants us to come over so we can go together to the cemetery to put flowers on Dad's gravesite for Father's Day. I bought the flowers. We were also going to take care of some banking business for her, but since the banks are closed for the stupid holiday, we won't be able to do that. We were hoping to make only one trip into town. Now, we'll have to make another trip, Monday or Tuesday.

Sunny and 90 for our high, today. Humidity is increasing a bit. 92 for high heat index. The TS has slightly changed direction, so it's doesn't look as if we're going to be getting as much rain as first thought. If we get any.

Doing outside work today as we are supposed to get about 7 inches of rain Sat and Sunday. Taking a break inside right now after weeding zipper peas, watermelon and cantelope. Ate our first corn this week and our first tomato! Eating out of garden every day which is a good thing for us! During rainy time this weekend I will process stuff picked today! Reviewing all of our systems...water, septic etc...to make sure our backups work and that we have backups to our backups! All of that means using those systems at the same time just to get a feel for them. I guess you would call that a dry run. DOW has me concerned along with Arizona recount along with a few dozen other things!

Struggling with some leg pain today. The last 2 days, I have spent morning and evening weeding the garden. I guess my sore knee just couldn't take it anymore and decided to get the ankle to join it in swelling and being painful. Taking today off from the garden.

Have a doctor's appointment and will go grocery shopping today. Other than that, I plan to get the seeds out of the last squash we have from last year.

I managed to get everything done I set out to do, today. Took Mom to the cemetery with us to put flowers on Dad's gravesite. Mom placed a solar cross on my sister's gravesite. The bank was open, so we took care of business there.

We had a great visit with Mom discussing our DS's arrival on Sunday from Texas. He will be living with her for awhile. I also got a hair cut while I was there. Mom trimmed about 4 inches off for me. Now, it only hangs almost to my waist. She also has a beautiful yard full of flower gardens. We walked through them. She loves showing off all her flowers. I enjoy it, too. Got too hot after a while, and we had to go back inside, before we got sun burned.

It turned out to be a great day!

Have you tried one of the kneeler benches? https://www.amazon.com/Folding-Sturdy-Garden-Outdoor-Protects/dp/B08CGRBVC8

The prices have gone WAY up... I paid ten bucks each for 2 of them about 10 years ago! But because of the MRSA infection in my foot 30 years ago, my left ankle is very stiff. I'm fortunate... I don't limp (except when it's screaming at me, which seems to be much of the time lately!) And I can do everything I ever could... but kneeling with that foot stretched flat on the ground is *not* comfortable. Less so after I get up than while I'm doing it! I assume there's infection caused arthritis in the joint, but it could be just scar tissue in the tendons.

Anyway... those kneelers are lifesavers, especially with low raised beds. You can sit on it like a bench, or kneel on the pad. We use them for picking peas and beans, too, using the bench option...

The local supermarket had a 3 day special on whole export rump @ $10/kg, good for curries and beef goulash. I bought a few and will leave them in the chrio vac bags for a week or two to soften up in the spare fridge then cut them up and freeze them. Meat down here has gone through the roof, BBQ lamb chops are $18/kg (2.2 lb) Food is one of the things this planet is running out of unfortunately, and here the drought and China's appetite for meat aren't helping matters. Can't remember the last time I had scotch fillet...

We had the other great niece one day this week while her car was being worked on. Then overnight and most of the next day while more work was being done on it. We enjoyed having her so much. She helped me look in the bees and wanted to know all about them. Our son and grandson were here too. We had a full house. Life is good.

We stopped at Kroger after dropping niece off at the car shop. Produce was very low. We did find hubby's blueberry English muffins finally. I bought 3 packages. There were 4 on the shelf, but the 4th one did not have a tie on the bag. I felt kind of bad taking all 3 good ones, but we have been looking for 3 months for them. Hubby had just ate his last one that morning. I froze 2 of the bags we bought.

My dear mother in law has decided to stop cancer treatments. She will be 88 or 89 in a couple of weeks. The most time she could have is 6 months, but probably less according to the dr. Her 4 kids are having a meeting with her and the nurse on Monday to talk about everything. Hubby's dad has dementia and really doesn't know how sick she is. He has an aide that comes in daily. The kids are looking at a nursing home for him. He has trouble getting around at all and will not do his therapy except when the therapist is there. Hubby hurt his back worse a month ago bringing his dad home from the hospital. His dad could not get out of the wheelchair to get into the car or out of the car at the house. We always thought we would bring them here to live, but that is not possible the way things have turned out. I never thought my father in law would out live my mother in law. He has been sick and disabled for over 30 years. But she has been extremely healthy until the cancer. The only medication she took was a blood pressure pill. The next few months will be difficult to say the least.

My potatoes are so stressed with the heat that I don't want to dig up any right now. I watered them deeply the other day and added a bit more mulch. My tomatoes are all in flower but not setting fruit. Fortunately, next week will be cooler.

We're looking forward to some rain tomorrow in Central Iowa. I've set out several containers to catch the rain, and I'll use that on the garden.

Well this has been a rainy day for us which means a sort of enforced holiday! Today I squirreled away more food via canning and dehydrating. I stopped at 2p or so and have sat on the covered deck and watched hummers which apparently don't mind the rain. Our broody hen hatched out 3 eggs today! It is always fun to watch her. We knew when we walked to the brooding pen that the eggs had hatched as we could hear her clucking to them. She is a great mom! always amazed at nature!

Today we picked 2 gallons of blueberries! I will make some blueberry pepper jelly and some jam and then freeze some for pancakes and pies. Yes I said freeze even though I vowed to freeze very little this year! Our bushes are 3 years old and we have 18 bushes so they are doing their job!
