I finished up last week's prep buys on my way home from and back in to work yesterday, hitting the Dollar General in my home town and work town twice each - it was tp time
I had 4 - $5 off $25 purchase Dollar General register coupons. They had Northern tp 8 mega roll packs for $8 each, but they rang up $7.95. Each stop, I picked up 3 packs (total: $23.85) plus something to add to the stockpile to put it over the $25 purchase amount required - I used an assortment of 2 bottles of peroxide, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, a bottle of mouthwash etc... all in the $1.30-$1.65 range, so each total after coupon and tax was in the $22 dollar range. Then I hit the grocery store to take advantage of an in-store coupon deal - Cottonelle tp 6 mega roll packs for $4.99. I bought the limit of 3 and used 3 manufacturer's coupons for 50 cents each along with the store coupon, so got out of the store for $15 for that. I'm calling it a two-fer deal 'cause it will make some nice insulation for that north wall in the pantry
I also picked up 3 bricks of .22's that the deal finder for our MAG came up with; not sure how long they will last the boys though
So far, the only things I've noted in the drug-store ads are Boost, Ensure & Pure Protien in the food column, and laundry detergent for the household stuff. There are some good coupons and deals on the Boost and Ensure this week, so I will probably take advantage of them. Daughter's partner is not doing well (end stage cancer) and has mostly stopped eating actual food. I'm a little concerned about the high protein drinks that he prefers as his other fluid intake is low as well, but his kidneys appear to be working okay for now, so I will probably purchase several cartons of each.
I will be pulling some chicken and corned beef briskets from the freezer and getting it thawed and canned sometime this week and next; just not sure where I'm going to fit it in. I'm wanting to shut down one of the freezers so I can clean it up and move it; then will transfer the lot to that freezer and clean up the other one. Canned corned beef is fabulous for making corned beef hash; I can make a large skillet full using a pint of corned beef, a box of Hungry Jack dehydrated hash browns, dried onions, and some shredded carrots. Heat that up to sizzling using the fat from the top of the jar of corned beef to brown it up a bit, make a few openings in the hash to drop in some eggs then cover the pan til they are set - YUM!
Dang, now I'm hungry
Reckon I'd better have a bowl of the bread pudding (that I made from some stale cinnamon rolls daughter was getting ready to throw away), then get ready to head in to work.
You folks all take care out there; stay safe!
