I think our time to prepare for this virus is about up.
I made my list for my usual Sam's club and Aldi trip this morning and set out for North Mississippi around 10:30. Wanted to arrive in time to have lunch with family members who live there, before shopping. This is a trip I make at least twice a month. This time it was a bit different. First thing I noticed was that the parking lot at Cracker Barrel was only about half full. I had zero problems finding a spot near the door and there was not wait to be seated. This place is usually packed. I have never been there and been seated immediately.
After lunch, I stopped at the Home Depot for a couple of things. I decided to check the supply of N-95 masks while I was there. I turned down the aisle where they are located and stopped short. There was a man and woman standing in front of the mask area. They were Asian and they had with them their luggage. Not a small bag, but the full size luggage with wheels and a backpack. Mind you , my Asian doctor had told me earlier in the week to avoid Asians wearing masks. This couple were not wearing masks, but seeing them standing there with their luggage, gave me pause. I went on to grab the items I needed and returned a few minutes later and they were gone. The only N-95 masks they had were in 2- packs. No boxes at all. Fortunately, we have a good supply.
There was nothing unusual at Aldi, but I went ahead and got extra, just in case. The next stop was Sam's. I pulled out my list and quickly got what I needed. I noticed that the rice, beans and flour sections were very low. There were other areas like that as well, but I don't remember what they were. I looked up and saw people wearing masks and decided that it was time to go. Standing in line to checkout, I noticed that just about every cart had a package of nitrile gloves. I've never seen that before.
This is just my experience today, I have no idea if other areas are stocking up. For me this was a big dot.
I have to go back next week for a doctor visit. I plan to check my storage and fill in any holes then, if I can.
