I had a pleasant drive to Amish to get coal yesterday. God has a sense of humor.
I asked him please make sure someone is there to help. And gosh wouldn't it be ideal if the semi was there making delivery of coal and it was easy to get..
That's exactly what happened! Thank you Lord.
I got 15 bags. Plus I had 8 bags still. Down to one bag a day of usage.
Going to try to finish up a couple small projects. Son works tonight. Daughter and grandsons are coming up today or tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a good day!

Today is Saturday, right? I could be a day behind, LOL.

Speaking about Meloxicam. Yes, it has a warning about heart attacks and strokes. It also says to take with a meal on a full stomach. I don't plan to take it more often than needed, but I have to take it long enough to heal up the inflammation. It's like any other drug. You have to weigh the benefits against the risks. I have to take high risk drugs from time to time, anyway. Methotrexate can cause cancer, but I have to take it when I have a bad Lupus flare up. Prednisone causes osteoporosis, but I have to take that, too. Biologics when necessary. Taking some of these medications "can be" life threatening, but so can Lupus. I had to stop taking Plaquenil, because I developed Macular Degeneration.

Rain and storms today, overnight, and tomorrow. Some could be severe. High of 68.

Home fellowship, tomorrow, so I've got some tidying/cleaning up on the house to do, today. Not much.

Holding down my chair. Currently debating whether to ask Grand to come cook a meal or just put the brace on and do it myself. I know tomorrow will probably be worst day for pain. It is raining so we aren't missing a good day to work. We did get 15 tubs moved after I braced up and went back over Thursday. DH did the carrying. I just slid them into place. We were pleasantly surprised to find the tubs fit well on the already existing shelves.

Arnica gel is working very well on the bruises. I will have to replace my stash. I have a pair of ugly slip on tennis shoes that give enough that I can get my swollen foot into them if necessary. That's what I wore to xray. I am wearing a pair of DHs hunting socks today. Trying to put socks on with a straight leg is quite the challenge if I do it by myself.

I am praying there are no breaks in the leg and that it is just stressed.

I hope to get a lot of canning done this summer. We have really gone through canned potatoes, broth and canned chicken and rabbit. Down to 6 jars of tomatoes.

Aside from Arnica gel, our med preps are solid. I had to give up a day of work Friday but can easily make that up next week. We are seriously going to celebrate when done with all this clearing out.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

I hope that everyone is having a productive and fun day!

I finished errands, got in my steps, and started a hard copy travel binder. I've been printing out info about places I want to visit and putting it in the notebook. That will help with planning because I can spread everything out on the desk. I'm sure there's software for that, but this is much cheaper, and I can haul it out on the deck if I want to work outside.

And outside is wonderful! It's 56 degrees and partly cloudy. I'm going to fire up the grill later and cook some hamburgers and pork chops.

@patriotgal - PLEASE stay off your feet until you are absolutely certain there is nothing broken in your other leg!

And make sure you stay off the broken foot as long as necessary (minimum 4 weeks...at our age, possibly longer) for the bones to fully heal.

This really is a "pay me now, or pay me later" situation! Rest and let it heal for a few weeks, or potentially have to deal with chronic pain and disability over months to years.

Prayers for pain relief and rapid healing. Also for patience, and being at peace while asking for as much help as you need to heal.

It's 64 and threatening rain right now. Nothing to do outside, until it gets warmer.

I finished the bit of housework I wanted to get done today. Like I said, it wasn't much. Sweeping and dusting, mostly. I've been reading most of the morning. DS came over this morning, and took Cary down to our club land to look at a couple of trees to cut for firewood. I took advantage of the "silence" to read. DS is still quite able to cut his own firewood, so these trees are there for the taking. Cary will probably help him with it when it's time to cut. Our guy is supposed to bring us our first load one day next week. He called Cary this morning and ask him to what length he needs the firewood to be. Cut to the right length and split is going to make it so easy for Cary to deal with. All he has to do is stack it.

A chicken and French onion soup casserole with lima beans and cornbread for supper, tonight.

I've also been looking online this morning for some freeze dried fruits to order. I'm thinking of ordering from Augason Farms. I have several of their products, and love every one of them, so far. These would be for long term storage. Blueberries, sliced strawberries, and banana chips. I can get apple slices from Patriot Supply. Augason Farms doesn't have those.

Happy Valentine's Day to all

A happy and sad note today

Today is our 50th Anniversary...we made it lol..we are both amazed and glowing...that we made it...and reminiscing about all the crazy things that happened along the way..and there we plenty..

The sad note is ...as you age you lose so many friends
When we thought about having a party a couple of months ayo..we realized ..the few left are so scattered that it would be impossible..DH said we wouldn't even need more than a six pack

so we will have a nice dinner and a bottle of bubbly at home...then next week go out to dinner ..when the commotion is over...but then... it is really only about the 2 of us...

We will be celebrating our 50th in October. Congrats! I told DS that we didn't want a party. We are planning a trip to celebrate ours this Fall. Just the two of us.

@patriotgal - yeah, what summerthyme said!

@hd5574 - congrats! I don't think DH and i will make it to 50 years - we'd be in our late 90s by then, but who knows. I know I love that man more every day. He is my very best gift from God.

@SouthernBreeze = I think getting ahead on fruit is a really good idea. This strange weather may play havoc with fruit production this year.

I am working on taxes and slowly doing a few things around the house. Still needing pain meds, and I don't like that.

Have you looked at the LDS website for your strawberries and apple slices? It's real hard to beat their prices and low shipping cost.

Had a friend pick up a half flat of strawberries for me on Friday. They were huge and so sweet (we live in Florida and these came from Plant City). I made strawberry jam today. We don't use a lot of jam, but have 8 jars to use. Gave 2 away to friends. Still have a few pints of fresh left. Will have for dessert the next few days.

I think more fruit is a great idea...in the grocery store..it seems like the canned fruit section is shrinking each year...
I do plan to get more mandarin oranges...was reading the cold weather was really hard on the florida crops..
I have a lot of cans of freeze dried long term foods but might add more fruit..

We eat a lot of mandarin oranges, but I buy them fresh. I don't have any canned fruit in storage, because I've heard that it won't last. I worry about fruit crops this year, too. As long as I can still buy fresh, no big deal, but I want to have fruit available if there isn't any for a while. I think in terms of "short term" and "long term" prepping. Freeze dried would work for both. We have our own fig and mulberry trees, plus muscadines, but those depend on the weather and squirrels.

I have a huge stash of canned mandarin from when they were still cheap, cans are holding up. I use to eat them every day until I started carnivore, which I'm not doing right now,

I'm so sorry about starting the thread too soon! Omgosh I didnt even realize!!

Happy Anniversary to you sweet lady!

Dear Lady, forgive me for being anal, I still have chemo brain, which unfortunately may never go away. Now if I could just get part chemo toenails. Lost a big toe nail 6 months ago and its showing no signs of growing back, its ugly to0, always had nice feet.

Rain and the power just went off

We got a lot of rain, overnight, but no storms. It's 58 degrees right now, and that is our high for, today. Still waiting for those 70+ degree temps for Wednesday and Thursday! It's supposed to be 79, Thursday.

Home fellowship this morning. Everything is ready. Nothing else planned for, today. Left overs for supper.

I'm trying a new recipe for burger buns. Going to make hamburgers today, couple pork steaks for everyone.

Sounds good! We only ate half of the chicken and rice casserole I made last night, so we're having the rest of it, tonight. I'll have to come up with something to go with it, though.

I don't think I'm ready to tackle making hamburger buns, yet. I'm still tweaking my regular bread recipes.

DH is taking care of things. Times like this are when I really appreciate home canned food. Last night he opened a jar of chicken and a jar of green beans. Today it will be navy beans and a batch of cornbread.

Nurse called last night to say knee not broken then she saw the note about other xrays. She is hunting them down today. The tech took what felt like a gazillion xrays of my upper and lower leg.

Grand coming by shortly. She's a bit freaked out.

Weather is wet and gloomy. I am just going to spend the day in recliner.

Omgosh this is very easy and fast!

2 TBS yeast
1 tbls sugar
1 cup warm water
( Proof your yeast)
1 egg
1/4 cup oil
3 cups all purpose flour

Mix it up. Roll balls out for buns, I used a touch of oil so it didn't stick. Put on parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Let it rest while oven heats to 400.
Brush with egg and sprinkle whatever you want. I used everything bagel, bake 15 mins

They turned out great, I was shocked. No long time rise needed. Let cool all the way and slice in half like a bun.

Recliner sounds good patriotgal!!!

No rise time? Do you just pick up a glob of dough, and roll the balls out in your hands? That does sound easy!
