Here we go with a new week.

Had a rough evening with upset stomach so skipped supper. Took some Ondansetron and it helped.

My wife fixed a large stock pot of vegetable soup Friday night. I set aside a quart of it to have before everyone else finishes it off. A little over four pounds of beef stew meat in it cost $30 on sale.

Wishing all a safe and prosperous week.

Hey morning. Been up since 1:30 am.
Sciatica. It's starting to calm down.
It was a day yesterday. Got outside chores done. Warmer, was 31 I think. Laundry, trash. Etc.
Then drive to Amish to get coal. Noone was home. Went to little village to run errands. Came back by. Still no one home and barn locked.
Had to head home. Still cold and still a lot of snow.
Called TSC and they hunted down 7 bags of coal for me. 4+ $$ more a bag. But had to get it. That puts me up to 14 bags. Will have to go next week get more, one day next week weather will be better.
Took grands to Little village parade. Then home.
I'm exhausted. Son will be home this morning.
Snow supposed to hit at dawn. Anywhere from a dusting to 3 inches.
So glad I got my ice cleats when Summertyme mentioned them. Had them for years now.
Still have a little shopping to do. Then try to get the house cleaned. Very hard with the dogs in and out.
Christmas cards out. Still a lot to do.
After the party on the 14th, son and I plan to hunker down.
Just got to get through the winter. We'll have something set up next year down south for winter.

Good morning everyone. I hope you guys are feeling better.

I kind of overdid it yesterday. So I crashed hard for the evening and bounced back some later. Now I am having a very lazy morning wakeup because there are no time limited demands on me today.

Ice cleats are the only winter gear I am missing. Will have to remedy that in case they are needed during KC visits. Don't have to get out at home and we don't get a lot of ice.

Resting today. Going to put some pork stakes in instapot. Will put potatoes in steamer over them and have a one pot meal. I don’t buy pork steaks normally but these were part of the $5 for $25 and the choices were slim this time. Might make some oatmeal cookies.

Tuesday is 48th anniversary. Will probably go to Texas Roadhouse to celebrate. Can do it between dropping kids at school and picking them up. Have gift card which makes it even better. DGS always asks what anniversary it is so he can tease his mom about her age, lol. I treasure every day we get. Many of my friends are already widowed.

I got my shower and decided to go ahead and sweep the house and get out all the ingredients to make supper, tonight. Now, I can sit down and concentrate. Drinking more coffee, too. Not much else to do, today. I'll more than likely just read, watch cooking videos, and watch soccer games with Cary this afternoon. I might set out a few Christmas decorations, too. I don't have room for much. Just a few things here and there.

We're warmer, today. 51 and 40 for our high and low. Rain coming in around 7pm if the system develops. We may be up to around 60 degrees a couple of days this week.

Finally, we're getting a whole week off without having to be anywhere.

BP is back to more normal this morning at 137/84.

Praying that everyone has a safe and blessed week.

Yes, ice cleats are important. Summer also wrote that wool socks big enough to go over shoes can work in a pinch, too. I've never tried it. I keep one pair of cleats in the car and another on a hook in the garage. They've kept me safe many times over the years.

It's 15 degrees here and sunny. I think we got about 2.5 inches of snow. I'm guessing, based on what I can see out the window. I will go out later and clear off the porch. It looks like the snow angels have gotten the city sidewalks already. That's my main worry: the city has gotten a lot more aggressive about issuing tickets this year for uncleared walks.

I made beef stew and cooked pork chops the other day, plus did laundry and some cleaning, so I'm in good shape for the week. I'm proud of myself! In the past, my house has become rather messy by this point in the season. This fall, I've kept up better with putting stuff away and the weekly chores. There's still room for improvement, but I could have guests in right now and not feel totally embarrassed.

Wishing everyone a good day!

@Meemur isn't that the nicest feeling? @patriotgal - congrats on your anniversary (in case I forget later this week). Still battling the gunk. I think that my case isn't as bad as DH's, but I am debating about cancelling class tomorrow and working from home. We'll see how I feel later. This morning was a little rough. Trying to slowly putter around and get a few things done. I really don't want to put off much in case I feel worse tomorrow.

Lots o snow and wind through the night. At 4am i shovelled the small deck outside the door. The dog, Sparky, wanted to go out but the steps were full up with snow. He took a flying leap to get to the ground and completely disappeared! The snow started churning, two ear tips and a nose appeared, and he began swimming through the snow to the steps. He finally found the steps and made it to the door, a white snowdog instead of a black yorkie-pin.
Not getting to church this morning as the snow plow bermed us in. Even if we got out, i doubt there would be parking on the other end yet, so better to keep digging out (plenty of that!) And not add to to any trouble out on the road system. It is just getting light here after 9am...

So did some digging into headlight problem. Next step is to replace the headlight switch in the dash. Everything points to that per tech. Except it is no longer made. Going to order one and see if my old mechanic can handle it. He still does occasional work from home.

Body just feels weird today. Everything works. It's just that I can feel it all. And my toes are finally warm without outside assistance.

I am just moving slow and steady. I don't know how much I'll get done but I'll get something done. I've already gotten a few things done. I just keep moving gently.

Edema is reducing. But it's body wide reduction, not just legs. Most visible sign is that I have to keep tightening the knee brace.

Lunch was shrimp and corn chowder. I seem to be craving soups or stews. I think tonight's dinner is going to be chili.

It's so odd. I feel better, surprisingly better, but I feel absolutely crappy at the same time. I know it's healing phase. And I'm so grateful that I'm finally starting to heal.

My body finally stopped feeling quite so sore, and gave me some energy, about 2 hours ago. I got laundry going. I tickled son. I did a batch of dishes. And I am starting a batch of from scratch chili.

I did get lots of trash out into the garbage, from deliveries. And got some groceries put away. I'm still working on that.

My day went well. I've read a few articles, copied another internet recipe to make soon, watched 2 soccer games with Cary, and cooked supper and cleaned up the dishes.

I have no idea what tomorrow will bring. I haven't decided, yet. I already know that I have 3lbs. of bacon to cook for the freezer and maybe, some peanut butter cookies.

The store here that had the 5 for $25 changed to 5 for $30 about four months ago. Every time I go in the store that area seems to be more picked through and have less of what I want, especially since we don't eat pork. I used to get the 20 pack hash brown patties in that section, but the only 20 packs they have had in three months are now $8.50 each in a different section. They are quite good though. Look and taste just like the ones from McDonalds. So did the ones they used to have in the 5 for $25. I like them much better than the OreIda ones.

Good morning. I'm sitting here drinking my coffee for a few minutes, before I get started for the day. I've got a load of laundry to do, bacon to cook out, and possibly some peanut butter cookies to bake, later. I also have a bit of dusting to do. With this wood heater going all the time, fine ash particles keep the furniture dusty.

We got the rain last night. It still looks rainy outside right now. 44 for our high and 33 for our low, tonight. Tomorrow in the 50's, and Wednesday it's supposed to be 60 degrees with another cold front coming in. 60 degrees this time of year with a cold front can make for dangerous weather. I don't think we are expecting any with this front, though.

I pray everyone has a great day!

Good morning,
We are having sunny warmer days this week. I am doing housework this week. I'm tidy by nature, but still need to clean. Also trying to get last of Christmas ordered for kids and grandkids.
Cooking ham today and roast at some point this week.
I still have slight feeling that something is 'off'.
Seems everyone is busy and I pray you all have a great week.

Son did the chores this morning. Went ahead and made that chocolate depression cake everyone loves. Will frost day before party.
Oldest son coming out today to visit. It is 10 degrees right now. Tomorrow and Wednesday supposed to be in 30s. Yuck

My paternal grandmother made a depression chocolate cake, too. It was very simple, but everyone, to this day, loves it. It's more like a pudding poke cake. She just made her own white cake, let cool, poke holes all over it with a wooden spoon. She made a thick chocolate pudding like frosting and poured it all over the cake. It is delicious. Very moist and chocolaty. You almost have to get it out of the pan with a spoon. 9 x 13 cake pan. It didn't look too pretty with holes all in the cake. It was more like a thick chocolate glaze/syrup rather than pudding, but didn't cover the holes. It was ooey-gooey chocolaty goodness.

So far, today, I've got all the bacon cooked and in the freezer. I had 4 cookie sheet pans to do, but it's done. Laundry all washed, dried, folded, and put away. Furniture all dusted, and I set out a few Christmas decorations. At least, my coffee table is decorated. Cary wanted to do more, but we just don't have room for it. He misses our nutcracker soldier. I may, yet, find a place for him, but that's it.

No peanut butter cookies, today. I want to watch a soccer game with him in about an hour, and then, it will be time to start supper. Maybe, tomorrow.

Oldest son is here helping. Him and youngest son went to town to grab some things. He helped me wrap gifts and tried to find some of the lights that worked. Otherwise and ends. If I could just get the dogs out of here a couple days before the party I can get it all done. It's just so dang cold.
This is a little more complicated but it makes an absolutely the best chocolate cake. My grandson did this for his four eight and he won first place

Trying to do all of this with the dogs in the house and sciatica it's just overwhelming. I may end up just vacuuming the carpet and throwing some blankets over the couch
And thats more than anyone should expect! Seriously, give yourself a break... anyone coming to your get together is coming to visit you, not your house! Anyone who doesn't understand isn't someone whose opinion matters, anyway!

I was just going to say let's go out to eat, but son wanted to have the holidays here after Scott passed. Just this year because next year he and I will be going down south for the winter. We'll have a get together somewhere else before we go next year.
Everybodys had such a good time here over the holidays through the years. But things change and no matter what you do it doesn't make it the same.

Furnace still isn't working. Left keys with repair tech who is also trusted friend. Nice uneventful drive up to KC.

Grands got permission to skip school today. They haven't missed any days this year. They attend a homeschool coop school. They are given assignments each week and expected to do them. If they do the work at school there is no homework. If they spend the school day sledding, playing in the creek in warm weather, or playing in the lab, they are responsible for bringing finished work the next day. The responsibility is on them.

All of them test out at least 2 grades higher. Every Friday is a field trip. Museum, library, event, etcetera. They got to see Charlie Kirk before he was killed and were quite upset by the news. They will get the option to attend public high school for senior year. All have friends in public school and the oldest has attended events at a nearby catholic school where some of her friends go.

They will be joining us for anniversary lunch today so celebration will be a family affair, lol. Their dad just outfitted his bronco like something out of an explorer magazine. Heated tent on top, pull out full kitchen, high speed internet, the works. So their parents will be camping in the cold all week. Better them than me, lol.

Setup a corner in the basement to work. I am required to do 19 hours minimum. Picking those up in late afternoon and evening. Kids only come out of their rooms for food, lol.

Stay warm everyone.

Horses got out last night. Thank God son was here or I'd never had known till this morning.
He got all the gates closed and we got them back in this morning.
So much snow! And more coming. We are all discussing once again to do the China buffet instead. The high here this weekend is 16. Plus more snow.
New dog chewed up a little deco from the piano that was for Christmas. Ripped new curtain off window and shredded it. While son and I were outside. Other than that he's a good boy.

Sunny skies for us, today, with our high to be 50 and low of 37 degrees. I'm glad we don't have to worry about shoveling snow, but when it rains every other day, that's bad, too. The cold dampness is troublesome.

I made up a family pack of pork chops to marinate in the fridge for supper, tonight. Oven fried pork chops with a bread crumb, bourbon and brown sugar seasoning. Baked in butter. They are always so juicy and tender with a slightly crisp crust. I'm taking a coffee break right now, before heading back into the kitchen to bake cookies. 4 dozen peanut butter cookies. I double to recipe. I use extra crunchy Jiff peanut butter, because we like the nuts in the cookies.

LOL. Cary wouldn't leave it alone, so I moved things around, yesterday, to make room for the nutcracker soldier. I'm finished with Christmas decorating, now. I lit all the Christmas candles last night, once it got dark. I have candy cane pillar candles that I put in all my candle stands at Christmas. I like the soft glow of candles. I love candles, period.

Coffee break is over. Back to work.....

It's going up to 40 degrees today, so I'll go clean up some of the mounds of ice here and there: snow is in the forecast again for the weekend.

I sat through several AI update seminars. Might be my doomer mentality, but I keep getting the feeling that a lot of the high tech is going to end up crashing, although I have no clear feeling as to why.

I just finished up with the cookies. They passed Cary's taste test, LOL. They are cooling now, before putting them in the cookie jar. I still have the dishes and the kitchen to clean up, but that will wait, until his nap is over. I'll do that while he brings in more firewood to fill up the wood rack inside. It takes several arm loads, and he has been complaining about a sore shoulder.

It's been a rough couple days. Dh is still recovering, although he's feeling better after taking IVM. I've had a couple days of multiple meetings at work with one presentation. Thank goodness I have tomorrow off!

It's been quite windy here, and I told DH we were going to get a storm. 'There's not one predicted. The weather says warm and clear thru the weekend.' Well, my jaw and ears are telling me different. (I know - some of ya'll use your knees, but for me it's my face!). Sure enough, I looked at the radar and we have a storm front slamming down from the northwest. I'll be quite happy if we get some moisture though. I dont' care what form it is in - it's just so dry here.

Making cookies and catching up on home stuff tomorrow (after I sleep in a bit!).
