Good Morning, All!

Wow! It is sooo nice to have a Sunday off work; I enjoyed having yesterday off as well - well, off work, anyway! I picked up the grandsons early for 'Breakfast with the Bunny', followed by an Easter Egg Hunt at the park, followed by lunch with my work Buddy; then they retired to his house to watch movies while I did a bit of stock up shopping; after which we came home to hard boil 4 dozen eggs for coloring today. Daughter and SIL went with granddaughter to a band contest; then granddaughter went on to a birthday party, while daughter and SIL enjoyed a quiet afternoon and evening on their own.

Today, it appears that we are going appliance shopping - grandsons in tow (help!) Hubby is still set on getting a new washer/dryer and I've got too much other stuff to do to get ready for Easter Dinner with the family to argue any longer! I also need to get in touch with my handyman, and with a carpenter who has done some work for us in the past to arrange some work to be done.

Once home from the shopping, we will load some cabinets we aren't using in the back of the truck to take to SIL to use in his lair, then I will color eggs with younger grandson while Hubby takes older one down to our little range to work with his rifle. Then we will switch kids and the little one will help Hubby build the support posts for granddaughter's volleyball set up. On our way home from taking the kids home, we will stop at the neighbor's house to borrow their lawn roller - with no dog, the darned moles are taking over!

Tomorrow while I am at work, Hubby will be rolling the yard, then oversowing it with Dutch white clover seed - and that's the only thing on his list - errr, my list for him :) - so far!

I'm looking forward to doing spring cleaning on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (why yes, I am insane!); then, if no one has taken my bribe, it will be back to work on Saturday, followed by the whole clan descending on us Sunday. I can't wait!

Food inflation is not leaving much wiggle room for prepping. Hopefully the garden coming in will make up the difference. What I have been concentrating on is flavor; spices, condiments and food additives that we cannot produce or cannot be produced locally. Coco powder, chocolate, cinnamon, ginger, tea, coffee, Tabasco sauce, spicy mustard, Baby Rays barbecue sauce have found a place on the shopping list. Also on the list are things needed to preserve food; sugar (brown and white), lime juice concentrate (great in salsa), lemon juice concentrate, vinegar, pickling spices, meat cure, food grade pickling lime (the mineral not the fruit), salt.

Have to laugh, OGM - I hit the spices and lemon juice during my Saturday trip to Aldi; have added a total of 12- 4# bags of sugar the last week as well. There must be something in the air... (oh yeah - missiles!)

Have been working a lot - on day 3 of a 4 day stretch. I did get more seeds ordered as well as a few things from Honeyville and some of my books for school. I found a great resource on the world health organization website for herbs that cites scientific studies done. I'm hoping as I learn more, I can convince the hospital I work for that herbal medicine has a place in treatment of patients (along with nutrition, aromatherapy, and acupuncture, that they already suppport).

I need to add more coffee, I try to keep six month worth around at all times and I just opened at can. I mix a large bag of Community New Orleans Blend with a large can of something else, what ever is cheaper. DH drinks a couple of cup, but I drink it all day long, I'm on my second pot right now.

We have tomato plants in the ground, DH is digging through the seeds to see what else to plant.

Absolutely beautiful day today. Got some spraying done, a few more preps taken care of, and DD made some banana bread.

I'll have to try mixing coffee brands sometime - I have a bunch of that God awful coffee from the hotel rooms - maybe 80-20 or 70-30 mix ....

Been a busy couple days: Got both the home place and the retirement place sprayed for thistle (grumble, grumble), and fences kinda checked. Got the dog taken to the vet for shots and neutering. Made 2 loaves of zucchini bread using a recipe for a quick bread mix - they turned out pretty good. Found some carpet squares for a project at the retirement house - it will save us from having to buy any more carpet at this point! Very exciting!

I'm trying to go thru things and shh... get rid of some things I don't need, and organize what I do. I found some little totes that will fit into tiny spots at the retirement house, so I've 'packed away' some things I don't use really often - like soap making supplies and my cookie press.
